I have had mine for almost 3 years now and I absolutely love this thing. I use it every day since the purchase and I take it everywhere with me. What I did not like at the beginning was the metallic taste my canteen gave off to the water. I got rid of it by first boiling water in the canteen with added 2 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate, let it sit overnight, and then by rinsing and repeating the boiling process with water only, twice or more times. I'm not sure if this is the best method, so you might wanna try the same trick with vinegar first. For the regular cleaning I do the process of boiling water with added 3 tablespoons of 8% vinegar and then just rinse with water. I have heard that you could keep the canteen clean by adding a few drops of lemon juice to the water. Let me know if you have any different experience regards maintenance.
I just got mine. If it was stainless steel, i would tend to leave off the pot every now and then saying nah, i don't need it in this trip... Being often wrong and regretting. Having it in titanium is different. It's so light weight so i take the whole kit every time so it's there when i need it. Also it adds strength to it so no hole will be poked in the bottom of the canteen if i drop it. Weight wise, i could have aluminum i guess, but i'm too old for toys and want new experiences, so i got titanium.
Aluminum is not good for the health as the aluminum particles leak into the water or food when cooking with aluminum cookware. In this regard titanium should be safe.
Do the handles lock together like in the USGI one? Some people don't know that but if you press on the bottom of the handles they lock together so I was wondering whether that will do the same.
If need be for heating the canteen with the cap on... Hold cap one hand firmly and other hand press the meat from other thumb into the gasket area to roll out the gasket. Couple tries and ya got it. ~ Leaving more threaded area so cap can vent and not fall off. No reason to knife out the gasket chancing gasket scaring.

Drill an air escape hole in the cap so the whole unit can be tossed in the fire to disinfect. Lower profile than a Klean Kanteen.

@@SurvivorMetalMan Update. The original US canteen cup is a tight fit and leaves a 10mm gap at the bottom but a Rothco USGI cup fits very well.
