    Miranda Rondeau is an internationally recognized devotional singer, musician, and frame drum artist. She has been teaching the craft since 1999, as encouraged by her late teacher Layne Redmond, author of the seminal book, When the Drummers Were Women. Miranda has created and teaches a repertoire of frame drum circle songs as a way of sacred remembrance. She performs in a ceremonial context, playing for rites of passage and communal bonding, as well as hosts “The Frame Drum and Beeloved Portal,” an online collaboration that highlights drumming and bees. She also created and maintains the online presence for “Women Frame Drumming,” dedicated to Layne Redmond.

      Wonderful you've been singing into the drum for many years. ON IG so many videos and photos now of people singing into the drum. I've been doing it since early 90's. A lot of my singing friends started doing it. Curious who taught you? And you accidently found my video?

      @@SoulcentricAstrology Ah, yes I remember when she first was getting started. She learned from Iliana. I got to later meet Karen at the Asheville Percussion Festival as I was teaching there.

      I got my drum from her in 2017 I’m pretty sure maybe the year previous.
      Singing into the drum activated my spirit big time and it’s been a passion of mine and a practice that I hold very dear to my heart.
      I don’t do Instagram or Facebook so I’m out of the loop in that regards.
      I was listening to Marla Leigh’s album, got inspired and thought to myself that I would actually like to incorporate more actual drumming in my practice, I do play around a bit with the sounds and was aware of the elemental connections to certain ways we make sound with the drum, but really not so much, so I thought last night I would like to learn and looked up beginner drumming videos and found you, and also learned about Eliana and that I am a part of an actual lineage of the revival of the frame drum, which feels special to me being mostly lone wolf.
      So grateful for the work you all have been doing since I was just a little girl born in the early 90s !!

      @@SoulcentricAstrology wonderful to hear you want to learn also how to play the drum and followed the thread with Marla, me and Eliana. Yes a modern lineage inspired by the ancients. Layne Redmond my late teacher wrote a book called When the Drummers Were Women writing about the women in the ancient Mediterranean area. She is like the mother of the modern frame drum movement inspiring thousands to drum, especially women.
      Bless your explorations and discoveries.

    Thank you Miranda. I have a shamanic hoop drum which I'm just starting to get aquainted with. I would like to sing into it as a way of practicing sacred intuitive music but I don't know if it's Ok to use a shamanic drum like that and I'm afraid to mess with unseen things I don't quite understand yet. Is there somethig I should know before trying, some safety rules, dos and don'ts and general recomendations specifically for a shamanic drum?

    Thank you for this interesting video. Is the renaissance head better than the fiberskyn for singing into on the Remo drums? I have a 13 inch renaissance drum.

    • @shamasmantra
      @shamasmantra 3 роки тому +2

      I prefer renaissance for singing into the drum as it is more resonant than fiberskyn. The funnest ones to sing into are the larger drums as the reverberation is longer.
