I got me a Remo Fyberskin 22" 8500 Series and bought for $41! A gift to myself plus i didn't want something with real skin since I'm an animal lover! But i will def get a smaller as I'm new and learning! Thank you for this recommendation and tips which helps so many if us new to this new musical equipment! 🙏🏼

This is one of the best videos I've seen for explaining the differences in some of the Remo drumhead styles, and generally I would add that these characteristics are true when these same head styles are used on other kinds of drums as well. Also, great singing voice - I was not familiar with singing into frame drums.

Nice drumming Larisa! We've got some nice drums as well, making them by hand from locally sourced materials in the beautiful European country Croatia!

Hey thank you. A drummer who just bought a frame drum here! Playing this instrument puts me in hypnosis. Very different that playing a drumset, wich feels like being at war! hahahaha
Your playing is very nice, and like said Ron Woodroof; like your style doc.

Yeah-you got me sold on these-my thing is the tambourine-and I’m going to incorporate one or two of these drums to it....this is exactly what I’ve been looking for and have always NEEDED....it took over 50 yrs to realize how musically inclined I actually am-but I’ll create from now until sound vibrations no longer reverberate *
    PRAISE JESUS!!

Thank you for this invitation. This morning I sang a channeled song and then I saw your ad for the 20th time and thought, Oh wait, this is for me. ☺️❤️🙏🏾 I can’t eat to add the dimension to my practices. I love the Buffalo drum. Super love the sons of the 22. But maybe I’ll go for the 16.

I have been using Moongel damping pads to control the ringing overtones on Remo Fiberskin frame drums. Start with half a Moongel, an inch inside the rim, on the back of the head. Add more if needed, up to and including one at the center of the head. It's an inexpensive way to get close to the sound of a leather head, especially when using a mallet.

Thank you Larisa. This is exactly the video that I was hoping for. You compare a variety of frame drums and describe their differences well. Bluetoothing my laptop to large speakers, I can assess timbre, responsiveness and fundamental bass note quality.
I have a variety of drums -- several djembes, an African talking drum, a powow drum, and a doumbek, and I have played other people's Native American frame drums with a mallet. I am interested though in learning an upright style of hand frame drum playing, and buying a frame drum for it. This video was just perfect.

Yes,Larisa it's an honor to hit your like button from 999 to 1K.
Together with a shaman-woman I'm creating my own handmade shaman-drum.
The process has started 2 days ago with our 1st meeting.
The night before I've had a dream about a brown horse that visited me in a dream. In our meeting the next day she gave a horse skin with brown hair in the form of a heart.
One of my totems is the buzzard and definitely horse 🐎.
Are some of your drums originated in Morocco?
I had one but the skin(goat)is damaged and broken.
I'm going to put a new skin on the frame (18#)later on when I finished with the smaller framed(16#)horse skin.
Thank you for this very interesting lesson on wich size of frames to use.
    In high and kind regard,
    T.

Thank you so much for this, it is very informative and inspiring! Unfortunately here in the UK buffalo drums seem to be much more expensive but for now I got a 16inch Remo Fiberskyn Frame Drum and I will practise with that. In future I might get the buffalo drum - I love the fact that you can hold it at the back and stand while playing it.

Very informative video, thank you ! I have a question I could find no answer about, though : what is the impact of the frame width (= depth of drum) ? The frame is what makes a drum heavy, so I'm tempted to purchase a narrow framed tar. But I have no idea if this will impact the sound (I like it deep) or the lap style playability (my favorite). Your experience about this would be very useful ! 🙏

    Hi
I just came across your ad for the second time and just like the first time it was a calling. It resonated with me and bought back my Taino ancestry. Goosebumps took over. I’m interested in purchasing one . I just signed up for workshop. I’m new on this therefore, I’ve no experience on playing it. Love the sound that came from the one you used on the add. Not sure which one it is. Please let me know. I want to be ready for the shop. Much blessings.

Hi Dear :) Thank you so much for this amazing and very helpful video! I'm looking to buy my first drum :) Wuhu! One question -do you know if there's a difference between the white and the black buffalo drum from Remo (not the white fiberskyn)? -Is the black more muted still? - Thank you if you're seeing this.

    • @poppytwist6631
      @poppytwist6631 3 роки тому +1

The black one has a deeper bass sound. I didn't know there was a difference and bought the white one first. I play them both equally but prefer the deeper sound.

The ability to actually tune the drum is not a disadvantage of needing "more maintenance". It means the drum doesn't suck like all the non-tunable ones do.
