This an awesome vid! Another vid of 2 legendary snowboarder sharing their thoughts, tricks and techniques in snowboarding! Not just purely snowboarding but they also give most important safety not only for yourself as rider but also for others who shares the hill with you. Hands up to you TJ and RYAN 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻🏂🤘🏻👌🏻
Ryan is the man. That being said i rented a snowboard in 1986 in breckenridge. It was a burton. Nobody was snowboarding at the resort that day and i killed myself wrecking. That being said i went back to 2 planks. Never knew it would take off like it did.
Great video! It's nice to see a mention for Jones - they are great boards albeit a little more situational than some, but I am a big fan of the company and Jeremy's outlook on conservation and minimising footprint while manufacturing them! Also, TJ - where can we get some of those sweet BA stickers???? we need to represent in the Alps!!
A couple years ago, I researched boards for a month, before I bought mine. I was not only looking at waist width, but also nose, tail, and radius, and then calculating what the width at the bindings would be... Got the widest board that I could find, but still can't quite lay it all the way over, without dragging toe. 😒 I remember watching one of Ryan's videos about him getting custom made boards, but I couldn't afford that.. 😭😭 Size 13 feet! Damn yoouuu!
@@daveg5857 When leaning over hard, and the board nears 90 degrees/perpendicular with the snow - which is where my issue arises - risers are going to have no affect.
How about binding degree? I'm a hard charger and love carving and I don't play in the park... at all! What board offers that 31+ width? What board was he riding?
They forget to mention: the board has to be strong against twisting. A 200 pound border got easily 600pound pressure on the edges. A salami board will not stand the pressure, it will twist and you are down. Strongest boards in that way are swoard (Switzerland).
The cut off for 11 / 11.5 is a 25.8 waist width.. you can get away with no toe or heel drag...id say 12 or higher benefits from wides. However, i notice my union force bindings are super tiny whereas my Ultras take up more space...so the size of your boots aswell as your bindings matter when minimizing toe/heel overhang
@@Matthew-re9pb Unlike the vast majority of boarders I simply do more than skid my turns. Anything more than 3/4 of an inch of overhang will cause serious toe and heal drag.
you definitely can, but a stiffer boot is better for carving because they are more responsive and can handle the forces better. Ryan wears a very stiff boot, mine is more mid flex
hello there! great video as always... (Y) listen i need some help in choosing my next board. I am tall 6 feet and i weight 165 lbs. I'm currently riding a Salomon Sanchez 151, but i find it a little fluffy when i try to follow my skiier friends. would you recommend the 154 warpig or the 157 super 8? or you do have other suggestions?
Hey, really appreciate the video. I wear a size 14 and I am having tons of problems with heel and toe overhang. I’m riding a Capita wide @ 26cm but I’m having a hard time finding much else wider. Do you have any recommendations?
Hi guys, I'm finding it nearly impossible to find a really wide board for my size 14 US feet. I boot out badly on my 27 waist Palmer timeless, at only 60 degrees board angle. Big guys want to carve too!! Any recommendations please? Looking for a31 or 32 by my calculations. Thanks!
carving with the2019 lib tech Trice pro 157W waist width 26.3 and with 11 size boots max stance width and -15,15 degrees and can hang these carves. trying to imagine what a 32 would be like... must be insane
I moved to a cheapy wide-ish board and it was no hassle to get used to. And as you say, they float better in powder. I honestly can't see a downside to a wide board for most riders. 👍 Hard boot narrow board types, they have their own peculiar needs, but most of us aren't them. 😁
Hey Ryan, Love your stuff! I'm in the midst of buying a new board, i'm 150 lbs with 11 - 11.5 size boots, been looking at a 157w board with 268mm waist width, the most i've ridden is 263 mm.. will it be that much of a difference? will it be noticably harder to turn or switch from edge to edge? or will it be just perfect after getting used to it even at slower speeds? hope my question/s are clear :D, would really appreciate your insight and help, Thanks so much! much love!
on that snow you can carve also with a door.....LOL.... Carvers do not ride Softboots and Softboards! at hard snow conditions you can slide with that equipement only ;-)
yesterday i was snowboarding but i was thinking it would be easy to learn carving but i litterly spended 6 hours there and still cant carve. I needed to stop like every 10 meters and brake
Worked great on about 6"-8" of average snow starts to struggle a bit past 8". ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN Very light weight and the chute spin control works well. For the low price you get a ton of value. My only complaint is managing the cord as it does take a fair bit of effort to watch and pull the cord out of the way. I found myself having to whip the cord out of the way a lot when I needed to make one way passes to mange the blow direction. It's less of an issue when you can work both directions. A battery powered version would be a lot easier to handle but that is also double the price and requires battery care. I chose the corded version so I didn't have to worry about batteries but I do now see how much work the cord is. I let my neighbor borrow it and it outperformed his smaller gas blower, he was totally sold. Very pleased with the power and operations. My only suggestion is to spend a bit more on a cordless version if you have budget for it. The cord is a bit more of a headache than I thought it would be. Very pleased with the Snow Joe brand and quality.

Full speed shredding. Ryan must have had some brutal slams jibbing at that speed
I can carve like that at high speeds but I cant do those jumps at the same time, that looks amazing
I tried some shit he does and broke a part of my helmet
My Jones Hovercraft is great for carving. Ryan has style like the Japanese snow surfers, so smooth.

It's a shame a lot of good boards don't offer a wide version.
That's one of the reasons why I've still got my 2010 Atomic Hatchet Wide.
