I love, love Myrkur album. But, honestly, when you sing, alone.. or with some instrument, in the Nature.. is so perfect and so beautiful that I added to my Myrkur playlist the video that are on youtube.
Okay, so I'm pretty late to the party, but i see a lot of people asking for an English translation. Better late than never I guess! I graven finder døde-mand sit sæde!" English translation - I went wandering a late evening. There, I met a giant so hideous and grim. His speech was so rough and ill-intentioned. I sensed he sought to convince me. "Oh listen well Svend Northman, to what I will tell you, Ten questions you will answer me! And either you will receive death, Or you shall fare well in all your days!" "Tell me, what would be the roundest wheel? Tell me, what would be the roundest wheel, Under which many playing dangers lurk? Wherever leads the wide road, That humans walk with joy?" "The sun must be the roundest wheel! Under which many playing dangers lurk! To hell* leads the wide road, That humans walk with joy!" "But what could be darker than the grey night? What could be darker than the grey night? And what beats harder than lark wings, so small? What cries louder than the crane? And what is whiter than the swan?" "Thoughts are darker than the grey night! The heart beats harder than lark wings, so small! Thunder cries louder than the crane! And the moon shines whiter than the swan!" "But tell me, what could be the broadest bridge? Tell me, what could be the broadest bridge, Under which, the small fish can toss themselves in peace? What covers the ground with is cloak? And where does a dead man find his seat?" "The ice must be the broadest bridge, Under which, small fish can toss themselves in peace! Snow covers the ground with its cloak! In the grave, a dead man finds his seat!" "Listen well Svend Northman, to what I will tell you, Ten question you have now answered me! And you shall not receive death, But you shall fare well in all your days!"
I love how pale this video looks, Like your wool shirt too, you, your voice and the forest seem to be in a sort of harmony, It is beautiful to see and hear.
Myrkur, I am curious. The style in which you sing is similar to Irish singers that I have heard. Did the Irish borrow from the Scandinavian style or did the Vikings take new singing styles back from the British Isles to Scandinavia. Just curious. Do you know anyone who could explain that? Thanks in advance. By the way my last name is Skipper which is considered English, however, it was not present in England apparently until after the Normans conquered England. Also there are Skippers in Denmark even today.
Wish I could drink al my morning coffee's with you.. Ow damn.. I can! You wil be heard in the forest every time I wake up and make coffee from my hammock in the wilderness.. Thanks so much for your beautiful voice! Cheers, Mike and Taiga, Tikaani Outdoor
I've been to the Krakow gig and was taken off guard, enjoyed your music more than Solstafir's ;p reminded me of the witcher and Slavic folk songs :) Both are highly favourable associations :) Pity I didn't get to have a photo in the end ;p Keep up the great work and disregard the haters :)
I pretty much rethink why im living in dirty city with murder and filth when i could be in the woods listening to this. Or even if it is just in my mind.... :(
Hilsen! Vince Guitars (på FB)
Hey Im making a d&d campaign here in Mexico, i was wondering if i could use your music for ambientation, giving you full recognition for all of your wonderfull songs
I hear so much trash talk about the Danish language but it sounds so beautiful like this. Tak
Vinsk _ i dont think danish sounds too bad in songs but not that many words rhyme in danish compared to english
its more banter between norwegians, swedish and danish
Go to Denmark. Attempt to speak Danish for yourself.
Yeah in this song it's beautiful min ven, but sirously try to learn dansk and you'll understand the fucking pain.
@@thejagersmann2933 Just stuff potatoes in your mouth. They'll understand.
you make the song birds jealous!

Reminds me of my Nordic Grandmother. Breathtaking. 💛 Thank you
I could listen to an entire album of Nordic folk songs sung by you. I get the chills each and every time.
Very beautiful! We absolutely need more verses and a nyckelharpa! :D
No need for instruments! :) That would interfere with her voice and it was absolutely perfect the way it was, now more verses would be very nice. :)
Its a danish song, the nyckelharpa never really saw use in Denmark - I think she should try use something that was typical in the danish traditions.
So flutes and strummed string instruments?
Please post more of these kinds of videos, I love them to tears. I would pay so much for you to make more.
Yes! More like this! Your folk songs combined with the nyckelharpa are beautiful! Id buy the album in a heartbeat
I love how pale this video looks, Like your wool shirt too, you, your voice and the forest seem to be in a sort of harmony, It is beautiful to see and hear.

Why do you need instrumentation? This is a folk song, most of which (if not all) were sung unaccompanied.
