  • I am joined by my close friend Deandra Miranda to discuss the documentary "Desperate Souls, Dark City And The Legend of Midnight Cowboy."
The Nancy Buirski directed feature centers on the cinema classic #MidnightCowboy and also places the 1969 film in context with its era.
Desperate Souls, Dark City And The Legend of Midnight Cowboy hit theaters June 23, 2023 in New York (Film Forum) and Los Angeles (Laemmle Royal, Laemmle Town Center 5)

Thanks for this review. This is one of my favourite movies. It doesn't give easy answers, very stream of consciousness. You have to pay attention to the flashbacks as they tell you everything about Joe and why he's like he is. It's also all about misfits and people on the edge of society, the closeted gay men who are full of guilt, the tramps, the drug addicts etc

Yes - couldn't have said it better myself. The stream of consciousness aspect really bolsters the narrative. I have only seen it once, but I am sure repeated viewings - there would be a deeper level of understanding and appreciation on my part.
