The best business idea in thailand if you are a foreigner is to never tell anyone how much money you have. Keep all of your money in your bank account in the country from where you come from and never ever take financial advice from anyone on youtube or tiktok
Thumbs up 👍 Richie & Maybelle……Me personally if I intended to open a business in Phuket, it would have to be with a Thai citizen. I’ve got an idea for a restaurant concept that I think could actually work. Picture this: a big outdoor fire pit with real firewood 🪵 where people can BBQ their own beef, chicken or seafood. Add to that a huge all-you-can-eat salad bar with tons of fresh options. Would also include a full bar 😎
As you suggested, think outside the box. Be creative and innovative instead of more food and beverage venues, spas/wellness, theme parks, etc. Yes, people want something to do, something new. Thailand has evolved over the past 30 years. Thai people are more sophisticated. So, create a new experience that will result in millions of IG captures and like responses.
Through the video and your list, I was thinking about a business, and I was hoping you didn't mentioned it, but you did, actually the last one, number 10. I think to invest in a proper location (just an empty space actually) and the equipment, is indeed a lot to invest, but no hard work at all. The people who come to the fitness, they do the hard work, the machines and weights will make the money for you. Combined with some healthy sports drinks you can sell. I'm retired here, living near Rayong. If I had the money I would definitely open one. Good list by the way !
G'day Ritchie, since l went carnivore/animal based it's hard to find a restaurant that caters for us. I probably will never start one in Thailand but l thought of a catchy name. Keto king or carnivore king or ketovore king. This way of eating is becoming very popular
That is my favourite 7/11 in Phuket. In Kata, can drive and park outside. Big inside. But I have noticed that all the 7/11 I went to this year have the off “welcome “ which I missed, but understandable for the staff.
Rich I’d say car body repairs after driving in Phuket ! Good meeting you in early August, thoroughly enjoyed the food and services. The restaurant looks amazing, the baby is beautiful and you must be one hell of a proud dad, husband and businessman. Keep up the good work you have your dreams and forget about the naysayers, they don’t have a hope in life.
There is always room for another elephant park Richie, everyone loves them, it need to be done well and some new concepts, also the costs are high of setting it all up, it can be done but you need deep pockets.
Sometimes the subscribers are not haters just because they have a different opinion to Richie. Some subscribers think about what Richie says then gives their honest opinion. They do not just say yes, yes, yes to make Richie feel good. It sometimes may sound negative what they say ,but by no way are the majority haters. Some of Richies ideas are not viable options as an expat in Thailand and there is nothing wrong with telling him.
@brianbarbarich1401 youre views are partly true. However, this is YT, and some subscribers are definitely haters and trolls with nothing better to do. Richie has had haters, and I've been with this channel since it started when Mabelles Garden was a bare corner block of land. I visited back in 2022 and got to meet Ritchie and Maybelle. One of the bamboo extensions was being built at the time. It is what it is, and Ritchie handles it well considering
@Landofsmiles999 Yes, I understand your point about the haters. If you read one of my comments in this thread, I disagree with one comment from a subscriber on possible job ventures Richie should enter into. I also give my personal reasons why I do not think the 3 job ventures would work. Not being pessimistic just realistic in my thoughts. I also have followed Richies channel for a long time and would not like to see him investing in all sorts of ventures which may ultimately result him to fall into an unrecoverable financial position. I could be wrong in my views that I give in my comments, but there are plenty red flags that pop up. I stand to be corrected but I think as an expat in Thailand you cannot even own a business. If true then this is a major issue because in my opinion investing money into a business that cannot be in my name is not worth it, and it is another red flag.
I have lived hear for 2 years. I have been all over Thailand. What I have learned is to not buy property here for investment. The market is severely saturated. If you try to sell it and break even, you're considered lucky. Chances are, you won't break even. Never ever open a bar or cafe/restaurant because that market is even more saturated than real estate. If you want to sell food that is unique, don't share the recipes with anyone, cook it at home and put it on Grab or start with a very very small takeout only shop that has very low overhead and don't sign a long lease, and that is still very risky. I will repeat this part because it's extremely important. If you decide to open a small food shop, don't share the recipes. You're almost guaranteed that the employees will take your recipes, assuming they are successful, and go an open their own restaurant somewhere. For Fooks sake! Never open an elephant sanctuary unless you have a lot of money that you absolutely never want to see again.
Hi, great insights and ideas..I just heard from some thai guys running a craft beer bar in BKK that import taxes for bear and alcs are insanely high in Thailand...but supporting thai craft beer plus only a few foreign beers could work..
‘Hop in hop off’ bus started in London and is now adopted in so many tourist destinations worldwide, most tourist are first timers with little local knowledge, experience of driving motorbike, they stuck to area near their hotel . It can be a very good business in phuket but some serious backlash from taxi mafias
Hi Richie, nice ideas! I would have indicated for each one how much money it takes, more or less, to start the business. Being local and in business, you know how much money it takes to start a business.
hi, I'm in the cleaning business myself, believe that it could be a good business, ..I would like to make a caretaker for people who travel a lot and look after their house, with house and garden
Hi Ritchie.. Great ideas to put out there.. Just an idea of my own.. you could start up a membership with a low join fee but it would be a controlled membership and share those lovely family videos that we enjoy.. I run my own channel and find that Members are more invested in your success and less likely to be trolls..
I haven't been to your place yet Ritchie, but for mine the coffee at 7/11's ( with the expresso machine) is the best i've had in thailand and at cheap prices. Of course none of the cafe ambience 😅
Hey Richie! Great video my favorite is the car wash. To put a spin on it would be to make it a bikini carwash. Or bikini laundromat. I would be interested. And if the bikini is too much. These two types of business take the least amount of thinking by the owner. Let me know.
I saw a utube blogger counting about 40 weed shops in one road in Pattaya or Phuket (cannot remember which). The blogger did mention a lot of locals not making money because imported weed is flooding the market. So in my opinion not a good business venture. Pharmacy in my opinion also not good business venture. You will have to employ local Pharmacist and staff and overheads will be high. Plenty Pharmacies around so I think profit margin low because of competition. Girly bar is the worst choice. Plenty competition, plenty outlay, bars always up for sale because not making money. Money invested into a girlie bar will erode over time if you a newbe in the industry and money will go down the drain.
I was in Chantaburi city recently, and damn all the small bars were micro breweries outlets... Damn I hated it... give me a Leo anytime and I will be happy. But it seems like young Thais are looking for different flavours
Hi Richie and Maybelle, I am heading your way on December 1st for a month. Could you please help me with accommodation recommendations. Only me coming. Can't wait to eat at Maybelle's Coffee Garden.
Why I will invest in a country which one treat me different of his own people? I believe in free competition and same rights for everyone. Thailand isn't a safe investment environment for foreigners
Ritche, I'm sorry but massage shop is not profitabe. My wife has a shop in Patong and she can not survive on it. It is so over established. I know one business that is lacking and that is renting out bicycles. There is also a huge market for Qi Gong classes.
Awesome ideas Richie, i swear you and I think similarly. I've had more of less the same ideas but this'll be in Cambodia. 😀 I think the car and bike wash idea is something im going to setup one day, already got a name and logo. 😂 Already started my travel company and looking into advertising. The idea is that each business can help support each other.
I thought about a high end trout fishery, but I would need about 1000000000 kg of ice every hour to keep the water at the right temperature.....what do you think?

I'm a photographer/videographer in the Real Estate and Airbnb niche and I wanted to know if you think it would be a business I could start in Thailand.
so many Airbnb places and many smaller hotels have terrible photo`s of their properties. If you were able to convince them quality pictures (and or videos) was an investment not a cost I think it could be viable business for you. Could you show any figures such as percentage increase in bookings following your photo makeovers ?.
sounds more like a job for yourself, so you'd need a work permit, which might be difficult t get, since this is something that Thai people can readily do.

Loads of paperwork, loopholes, and competition for an expat to open a business (w/ a Thai nominee) in Phuket. Hua Hin, Jomtien, and maybe Chiang Mai could do w/ an added bowling alley. I've heard a couple UA-camrs lament the "lack" of microbreweries in Thailand. But one wonders about imports, taxes, local stock regulations, and obtaining liquor licenses. What The Kingdom has more of than anything else, are pool tables and motorbikes. Any enterprise providing accessories, equipment, repair, gear, or fashion associated w/ those two ubiquitous activities, could fare well if planned carefully, and relatively unique.
Also need to remember if your thinking g of working you need a work permit without one you will be deported if caught and you cannot own a business outright and there are many many other things to take into consideration its not simple to just start a business most of these ideas you have to have special qualifications or skills which most of the people don't have best thing is make sure you have enough money to live and enjoy yourself you go there to retire not work
