My sweet cat, Syd just crossed the rainbow bridge. The last night he was here I cared for him and made sure he was comfortable. He chose to sleep on the ground rather than on my bed, so I stayed with him. I put this on to lull me to sleep and to comfort me. When I woke up he was right over on top of my phone, sleeping and listening to the calming hum of the engine. I used to always watch Trek with him and it is so sweet that he found comfort in this video. Saying goodbye at the vet was really hard today. Thank you for the comfort your channel brings ❤️
Some people are relaxed by the sound of falling rain. Some by the sounds of crashing waves. But me... Give me a warp reactor any day, and I'll sleep like a baby.
Its all the same soundtype. Humans evolved with the sound of rain, cracking fire, rushing or crashing water and the ambiance inside of caves. This is an instinctual safe place.
@@Paultimate7...what are you even on about? Humans evolved because we didn't have a stable environment and had to adapt. What you're saying sounds nice but isn't remotely true.
One thing I always appreciated about this design was the hand railing. Really sells their emphasis on safety and promoting a positive work atmosphere. Like the skylight dome over the Enterprise bridge to let in all the natural light. Little perks like that let you know that the brass really do care about your overall well being and peace of mind. The Warp Core engine ambient energy sound. You can hear it all the way in Ten Forward. It's like the exact opposite of therapeutic Theta Waves or ASMR. "Shai Hulud powers civilization." ... so does this. Does that make you feel better ... or worse? *Sweet dreams.*
Engineering has this strange Liminal space feeling. It's not really a place to be, yet it is. Its very weird. But it is part of what made me an Engineer, quite literally, this show pushed me into it and this sound and this space played a huge role. Now I'm an Engineer with over 10 years experience. After college I started in Electronics Manufacturing. I moved my way into Test Engineering. Then became a Firmware Engineer for a company that now is part of Google. Then I left and went into Robotics. Now I'm in Medical tech working on Defibulators and advanced covid testers. My inspiration was Geordi and Data, their relationship and their place in Engineering. And I learned to respect my leader's decisions and how to respectfully voice my professional opinion to them. All this from a stupid TV show, but it gave me hope for the future of humanity
@Rob Wilson I got a good dose of TOS in the films, not so much the shows. I wish I could like the shows but it's too cheap-scifi vibe for me. The movies with TOS crew I loved and yes, Scotty was my favorite. My favorite scene with him was him on that Apple II coding up clear aluminum 😆
Scotty was my role model and, like you, is why I also entered Engineering. I was an Aerodynamicist at Sikorsky Aircraft for 45 years. For about 20 of those years I did wind tunnel research with powered scale helicopter models. I have to admit that I started many of our test runs with the command of, “Engage!”
I’ve been watching lower decks. They talk a LOT about the warp core. Did it ever get you thinking about how the enterprise is powered? It seems to run on a lot of energy.
@socraticproblem86 absolutely I thought about it lol. I used to build models, had one of the Enterprise A, B and D. I also had a larger scale model of the warp core. I would dream about that power but it is realistically hugely unrealistic. Antimatter explosions.... there's just no way. What was more feasible to me were the impulse engines. This got me to learn about real world Ion Engines. I paid a lot of detail to these aspects as a child.
I just wanna thank you so much for this video because I’ve been using it to sleep in my noisy apartment that I just moved in. My ear canals were nearly destroyed by the earplugs I wear so I can’t thank you enough for saving my ears. This puts me out faster than the air vent at my old house! Now I just need sleep phones to be a bit more comfortable.
try over the head earplugs , believe me i feel your pain, it took a while but now i can easily sleep on my back so i can wear the over head headphones and sleep without crushing my ears.
Love it, love it, love it! To those who can't hear the "warp" without headphones, get a Tivoli brand radio and hook it up with an auxiliary cord to your device. Then you can hear it for bedtime. Works like a charm.
I got a new job doing overnight food prep. The first thing I did to prepare was watch Star Trek. I binge watched Star Trek: Lower Decks for a month. Having Star Trek to watch kept my attention so I wouldn’t fall asleep. Eventually I gradually increased my bed time from 4a to 11a. It was gruesome. There were times when I was stressed in the kitchen. To paint a picture I’m the only one in the kitchen. It’s like a warehouse with this random kitchen in the back room. A nice perk is that I can turn this sound on. It will ease my anxiety for which I have a diagnosed mood disorder. I feel deep levels of concentration. My feet feel tingly. My stress melts away. I’m not thinking about how many things I need to prep. I’m not thinking about how the managers will wag their fingers. I am in the present.
''Commander La Forge! I've completed a level 1 diagnostic on the antimatter containment pods. I just want to say that it's been an honor to be assigned to the Enterprise-D."
Thanks for posting this, if you make another one please make the warp core louder. I can hear it in headphones but not when I leave it on my phone when trying to sleep. You have some great vids that help me sleep superbly!
inmymemory507 Thanks so much for your interest in these. I'm definitely considering doing a new version of this sometime. I get comments every week about how people wish the warp core was louder or easier to hear without a big sub.

where's jordie when you need him. no warp core breach here captain. very interesting to sleep to . Star trek dreams. Good night captain.
So the triforce has been stamped on the main engine this whole time??
For a bit of the show, yes. It really blew my mind when I noticed this. IIRC it is only the first few seasons of TNG.
crysknife007 Actually, check out Spock's death scene in the Wrath of Khan- you can see the triforce logo on the glass panel. This movie predate The Legend of Zelda by a few years, so it must have some kind of meaning outside of the game. Also, I think an upside down version was used on the Blacktron Lego sets.
KOBUN40
Yes there are LEGO sets with the tri-force in them that predate the games
The triforce has been around for hundreds of years.
Off the top of my head, I can place it as the crest of the Hojo clan of Japan. Back in .. the 1200s or so. And it's outright the triforce, or the "three scales." So I think the triforce was inspired by that crest specifically.

any chance you can do this with the sound of hte enterprise from the motion picuture? the engine room sound, the pulsating
any chance of getting that engine room sound from the motion picture?

I wanna know what the triforce is doing there.
haha, I've seen the Triforce in many non related places, of which i cannot recall, but i do remember it being some kind of warning symbol.
Thats the warning symbol for Antimatter. Just like how radiation and chemicals have their own warning symbols.
Wisdom to traverse the stars. Courage to explore it. And power to tell physics to suck it.:P
fun fact its a warning for radiation and extreme chemical imbalances that warp cores from Starfleet utilize, as for the origin for the symbol it was the flag of colonel green which he proudly used for his empire on earth during ww3, and his nuclear missles had that symbol which is why the first warp earth ship the phoenix had it, and Starfleet has adapted that symbol throught its history in the star trek universe
