Do note that if you get this laptop, I highly recommend getting an extra ram stick. The whole computer benefits from dual channel and you will see about a 10-15fps increase in a lot of titles.

100%. Will have to self install, not that hard. The only negative thing i'd say about this laptop is that the battery life is shitty. Have to charge it most of the time while I'm gaming. CPU could have a faster processor speed for more cpu heavy intensive games. This is my first "gaming" computer/laptop and I'm happy for now. Will probably fall off in the next year or so

I ended up buying it shortly after I said this and I am pleasantly surprised how good it is. I really did need a laptop for my daughter's online school but she is getting into World of Warcraft as well and this laptop runs it at high settings with view range set at 7 as recommended and it runs pretty good. I could crank up the settings a bit I guess but she is happy with it so I didn't bother.

I have this with upgraded dual SSD's and 16 gb ram and its an absolute beast. Plays Cyberpunk pretty well.

Acer has been coming out with some really good laptops the last few years. I bought one in 2016, went to the sandbox with it and handled some moderate gaming with ridiculous heat. The screen is one of the most color accurate available and movies and games look great.

I can play Black Ops 1 and Far Cry 3 on it no problem... Hope someone can help me with this because it's frustrating since I'm new to PC gaming.. HOPEFULLY you can help me bro. Awesome review! I got mine the 2020 model has the 10th gen i5 for 700$. Im loving it coming from consoles! In the future I will build my own with desired specs but not being a hardcore gamer this is more than enough for me! Great job sir!

@@biju_kutty581 I haven't tested battery yet. I've been gaming with it plugged in. And then leave it on battery in standby bjt haven't payed attention though.

nice video. Quick question during your gaming benchmark tests, were you using a single 8gb ram stick the entire time? Cause adding another stick 8gb ram will enable Dual Channeling of RAM easily adding 5 to 15fps depending on the game title. Thanks.
I've got mine a few days ago, has an hdmi display port, plays valorant, Z1, and other titles perfectly fine. It has an i5 10th gen with nvidia 1060, great little machine so far. Have yet to upgrade the ram, but installed a new SSD from Kingston. Very great laptop, worth it to me. (Just needs a bit more cpu for my taste. I am a streamer so it won't game and stream too great with the cpu loads.)

@MovedBlued honestly the last time i opened it up was a few months ago and i surprisingly have very little dust, so I haven’t done anything since then. but we did clean them slightly
i've had mine for almost a year and it's working great! the only real issue for me is the color accuracy is kinda weird :O .. red looks like pink, green looks like teal.. but in general it's no huge deal for gaming and programming.. graphic designers and photographers might want to use an external monitor with this laptop or look at something else

Nephew picked an older version Acer Nitro with a 1050ti and 8300H and 8gb single stick for $600 bucks new just a few months back. Threw in a pair of C15 ddr4 2666 8gb sticks for 16gb which was a good upgrade over the c19 2666mhz single stick in many cpu bound games.

I bought this laptop and have no regrets! To avoid overheating, since that is the issue with pretty much any gaming laptop, I undervolted it using Throttlestop, and also upgraded the RAM. Right now I have 24gb

I bought this for 600 bucks for my sister to upgrade from a Microsoft Surface Pro 1 (yes the 2012 model). Needless to say this was a much needed upgrade lol. She doesn’t game she just wanted a good laptop.
i was wondering does it run the same way as its 700£ 17'3 inch counter part? i checked the specs they appeared to be the same but one had 8MB and this one had 8MB "cache" written next to it , now im positive they mean the same thing but im new to pc's and i figured i'd check here before i invest in this specific model
2/22/20 ~ Purchased the Previous model Nitro 5 : i5-8400H Cpu + 16gb 2400 Ram ( upgrade ) + Gtx 1050 ti 4gb Gpu 🎮 also got him a 2tb 2.5” ssd to replace his 1tb hard drive ( No Nvme ) Just need the Cloning software before i can install the O.S. Cool 💻 five hundred Ny bucks for the games he plays ..... i would have paid extra if they had one with a Gtx 1660 ti or better 🇵🇹

I love my nitro. Running 16 gb of ram, 10th gen i5, with a 1650, 256gb ssd with an extra 500gb ssd and still have an empty slot for even more memory. Under 900 bucks.

You can pick this up at best buy for 659, but you can also find the dell g3 with 1660ti for 800 used there sometimes

what should be an idle temperature for this laptop ?mine 2020 version is( 38-45) at idle and( 55-60) while gaming after decreasing max processor state from 100 to 99 .do i need to repaste thermal paste?

Got the same laptop. Try to over clock the refresh rate. Some do and some don't. So hopefully you get one that can.
Well the older ones have an easily swappable display for a much better looking 120hz one for $60.
Doesnt overclocking make the lap toos lifespan less?

@m king it depends entirely on your preferences, imo if your a gamer and like to engage in intensive activites on ur PC such as gaming, editing etc then acer nitro 5 is a good choice aswell as a save in money compared to the asus duo, however if u got some buck and want a more futuristic pc then the asus duo is perfect
The FPS is good and all, but anything over 60fps is irrelevant because the screen is only 60Hz. Getting anything well over 60fps only lets you know that you will never drop below 60fps
You can just add another 8gb ram or had to be same brand to use dual channel?

If someone wondering. Nitro 5 has a another version that come with rtx 2060 same cpu and dual channel 18gb ddr3 2666 ram and 1tb hard drive. Its sold at 1099. Seometimes its on sale with 200$less so 899$ i bought it from microstore.

Just an fyi, the older Intel variants had serious flaws related to the mobo. Some had theirs die within a year from it. You can find replacement mobos online for $250 if this happens.

I just bought this laptop. I'm the ok with the specs, but the screen and audio... it's not good. But it's a $650 gaming laptop so can't be too picky.
I have this laptop and I was able to easily overclock the monitor to display at 90hz. Seems to have a good panel
