This is so endearing! I just wish I could show this woman a picture of herself five years in the future and make her feel better. Show her how successful she was going to be!

This is so touching, especially after seeing your recent videos. Every parent should see this. Your excitement and apprehension are genuine. So many people have the wrong impression of this issue, but if they would watch this, they'd only see a young person at the beginning of life's journey.

Hi Maya⭐. One of your post-op videos just appeared on my yt feed last week. I was fascinated and honored by your honesty & courage. I'm a cis female and gained a lot of insight about the difficult journey you've been on for 7 years. You taught me so much about dysphoria, trans appropriate terminology, and the trans community finding their way to their truth. I've always felt compassion for people who dare to be authentic in this judgemental world we live in. So happy you have family support and acceptance. AND you have the love relationship you wistfully wished for in this first vlog 7 years ago! ❤️
My first impression was that you're very articulate and wise beyond your age, what's called an "old soul." Having watched your 2020 videos and being drawn in by your storytelling, I'm now going back and binge watching your videos from the very beginning.
I'd like YOUR INPUT on an experience I had last year: I live in southern California which has a large LGBTQ community. I've many friends in the gay community, but none trans so I didn't know how to respond to a question from a trans person. Last year I was eating meals in a cafeteria daily and noticed a new person sitting a few chairs down from me. I'm guessing she was pre-surgery MtF transitioning. Her hair, clothes and makeup were feminine, but her voice was still masculine. We were chatting and she asked me how I knew she was trans - which felt awkward. I didn't know if she would be offended if I said her voice and bone structure. I replied that I knew some trans people and had sensed she was transitioning - kind of a half truth. The awkward moment passed, but didn't know if I did her a disservice by not being more honest. What do think??
Thank you for your videos 😊. Take care.

Oh Maya! My heart is full to overflowing listening to you talk, from the perspective of 6 yrs in the future. If only the anxious, care-ridden person in this video, who is being so sweet and vulnerable about her insecurities, could see the beautiful woman she blossomed into - like a butterfly from a chrysalis! I feel an overwhelming urge to reach into the past and console this gentle and sensitive person and tell her it's going to all right! It's going to turn out so much better than you could ever imagine! I thought I was going to cry when you went through that thoughtful list of 'cons'. Each one was heartbreakingly true and painfully honest!
By the way, I wish you HAD worn that prom dress, and put on make-up, and styled your hair! I'm certain you would have looked so lovely! Thank you for sharing yourself in such an endearing way. I will always cherish this video! In many ways I think it's one of your best, despite it being only your second. You are such a good and sensitive person darling!

I relate to you soo much. I love singing, and look at myself as a freak when i act "girly." I haven't mentioned how i feel to anyone, but I'm only thirteen and i really do feel strong about my feelings. All the research I do keeps saying it's better to start HRT before puberty, so I may visit the school counselor or something to talk about it.

I actually find most people are in flux about who they are until they hit at least 18 normally. That's why I don't agree with starting HRT before then. I'm starting this at 27 and I do wish I had started about 22 or 23 though not before then. There was a lot I needed to figure out in my life that was not tied to my gender and my gender identity in my life. Also if you plan to get bottom surgery it helps to go through puberty so they you can have enough material for the surgery.

    • @odeliamili7129

going into the men's room and tucking in your hair ** and acting extra dudely I meant ** your so beautiful and you have come so so far in your transition, I had to checkout your videos before you transitioned and in this video, right before your transition how feminine and female you already were before even taking hormones and haven gone through full male puberty. now that you her transitioned you would never ever guess you weren't born a female, you have been only transitioning for less then a year and you look like you have 100% already gone through full transition!! I wonder how ridiculously feminine and beautiful and fully complete with the trans ull look in a a couple years. u truly are a beautiful beautiful person and so inspiring and brave, u have a beautiful soul and I'm so happy you were able to become the real true you, and now just start to really.live your life the way you should have been the whole time, and a gorgeous women. much love girly ♡♡♡

Bone structure does definitely change. It is one of the slowest changes. Bones break down and rebuild all the time. My roommate, a transgender woman, has a more feministic face naturally than she did pre transition, which was one year ago. And some people's feet do shrink. A lot of women I have talked to said they shrunk like 2 shoe sizes. And height to. Depends on if you are in shape. If you are in decent shape, you can shrink down a couple of inches. And a cup size smaller than your mother's natural size can be expected after about 4 years.

Stumbled across your channel while researching on gender norms and love it! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us! I actually wasn't aware of the extreme limitations men experience today compared to women before watching this video. I can wear men's cloth whenever I want! It's even considered cool! I've used male washrooms when the female ones were overrun. Nobody said anything ever. (And hell yes they were gross) Maybe men laughed at me, that was it. I am born female and I was able to embrace and experience both genders almost equally. It seems this is still not the case for males, which is a shame!
I have an almost 4 year old son myself now and he got teased at childcare for trying on a princess dress. This made me so angry! When a girl puts on the nights armor she gets cheered for it! We really have to work on this as a society. Those gender norms don't do us any good. Neither girls nor boys.

You are so right about that. I don't understand why a girl doing typically masculine things is okay, but a boy doing something feminine is instantly shamed. I'm a 23 year old guy thinking about transitioning, but I have been ridiculed multiple times already.

wow. This is very real. I have my first appointment next month with gender clinic to start HRT and you bring up a lot of good points. This is very deep for your type of videos. The children; I have one; but I may want more. and the never telling anybody your dating that your trans is not being honest with yourself not accepting and loving yourself and not giving your partner a chance to accept you. it also makes it ten times harder to find somebody. That's very real stuff I never thought of, thank you I think you're very strong.. my question to you is how do you feel today are you happy with what you've done do you ever feel regret?

You mention your voice. There is a new procedure that is far less invasive and is almost devoid of risk. use key words: Transgender voice surgery and you will find examples of patients and their new voices. The procedure is so much better than what the old way did. You won't even need to train your voice at all. You will automatically sound like a young woman and in fact there was one Transgender female who started out with a very deep voice and she ended up with a voice so truly female that she sounded like a genetic female much younger than her.
You mention bone structure. The only thing I would recommend you do is have your chin reshaped. The rest of your face looks like a natural girl's face. Ignoring your chin, you look like a very pretty 15 year old girl. I strongly urge you to not change anything else on your face.
Hair removal, if you don't want to spend money, are patient and don't mind the discomfort, pluck, pluck and pluck. Each time you pluck out a hair the follicle is weakened and repeated plucking will eventually kill the follicle. I used to have a massive unibrow. From age 20-23 I plucked it religiously. Now I have two eye brows and have not needed to pluck in many years.

Transmermaid I'm sure you probably know this but just in case. You need to start working your voice now so that you don't fall into your lower registers. (it just takes practice start today, now.. don;t wait!!!) .Sadly Candifla has disappeared! but her videos are still there , grab them while you can ua-cam.com/video/qbaj4tIX1kw/v-deo.html she is so good! Before you start your Hormone blockers consider www.thespermbankofca.org/content/store-sperm. You might think now. I'm interested in men why would I want to do that? Well new breakthroughs on merging DNA are happening so children can come from three parents! (as well as artificial and transplanting wombs). Just give yourself options to have your own child. Women have big feet lots of stores now stock large sizes (especially online). GRS is not the most important thing in the world. (it depends on your partner). Marci Bowers is always a good start if you need to ask questions. Breasts are an interesting thing . take a look at your mother and sister and subtract two cup sizes! Turn you cons into pros and enjoy your life (And you youth) while you can. to fail to plan is plan to fail....

Some people at various web-sites post that plucking is not good. Both my experience and word from my electrologist differ.
I plucked before and during electrolysis. My electrologist told me that plucking helpt create a higher threshold for pain of electrolysis zaps, meaning that she could hit many more hair follicles at a high setting than if I did no plucking. She told me that she was good with my plucking as long as she had enough hairs to zap.
Eventually during my treatment, I came to a balance where I no longer plucked because she zapt everything on my face. That was the good sign that I was on the downhill ride to end this part of transition.
I had no grand finale, no fanfare after spending a Saturday or two each month doing electrolysis for a few years. I simply had no need to return for treatment. While it was great having finished, there was that quiet let-down of no finale.

Hi Maya. I’m 2/3 of the way through this video when I had to stop because I am crying too much. Your statement of feeling as a freak stabbed me through the heart. I’m 67 now. I’ve been transitioning for five years with very little progress. Mostly due to my age. When I was very young, I would cry a lot because I was being treated differently from my twin sister. She was, and is, very cute, yet I felt horribly ugly. My sisters, three of them, had beautiful long brown hair, yet I had to wear a butch. I despised myself. I knew, forever, I was supposed to be a girl, yet I had been robbed of her. I chose to become an airline pilot because, back then, they were looked up upon. A very male industry. So many times I tried to find a way to kill the real me, without killing myself. I held suicide as my punishment if I would fail at becoming an airline pilot. Make my parents be proud of me. I didn’t know someone could transition successfully at the time. I wanted people to like me. I did make it to a regional airline Captain though at a huge personal price. My health. After losing my airline career due to health reasons. I sought answers. I was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Tourette, then Type 1 Diabetes. All I had left was her or suicide. I try not to be too depressed. This video, and now 9 years later, for you, you’ve done so very well. And you deserve it. I hope your life ahead is great. Peace and love…Aria

I know this video was from a while ago, but I hope you're not still thinking about voice surgery. The effects are minor at best, and terrible at worst. It's rough, but you just have to train your voice. There's any number of girls who have succeeded at completely passing with no surgery, it's completely doable! Most recently agirlforallseasons just posted a great video.

hello Maya there´s a youtuber that offers a tips to feminize your voice with simple excercises, her channel is caroland and it´s pretty amazing she could change her voice, you check it out! .There´s another youtuber that talks about the long-term possibility of having children, so what she did was go to a clinic and have his sperm frozen if required later, so it´s a good option to consider. And in the case of hormones what they have done it is that suspend for a while the hormones (in order to have children) once they have the children, they continue their hormone treatment, there are many channels that talk about these issues, just check in the internet

I can see where you might feel that it is much harder to find a relationship, but I do think that more people are transitioning. I feel like I am a very open minded person in such a way that if I met a guy and loved him and then he said hey by the way I was born female.... it would for sure be shocking and ya know make you say OMG lol but I am the type of person that can look past those things and I am sure that there are lots more people who are also open minded. Good luck and I hope that you find all that you dream of.
I would hope that as far as friendships go that people would support you otherwise those people suck anyways...I only want positive and nice people in my life... Their loss if they can't deal with it...
I also want to say that you are gorgeous already! You look more feminine to me just as you are in this video, i hope that does not come across the wrong way but I think you were meant to be a girl :-) and it makes me so happy for you to be able to do this

About the washroom cleanliness debate: I'm a cis man, so I've only been in women's rooms a few times. However, I've had a couple friends who were janitors, and according to them, women's washrooms get far more gross than men's. According to them, a lot of women refuse to actually sit on the toilet seat, so they "hover," and usually end up peeing all over the seat. When women's toilets clog, it's usually tampon related. Make-up residue left around the sink/mirrors. And of course, nine times out of ten, it's a women who has to change a baby's diaper. And it often ends up on the floor. And rarely does a woman wipe off the changing table.
Again, this is just what I've been told, but it all sounds plausible enough.

waiting lists are upto 12 years, one of my friends was told. Appointments were spread out over two years and repeatedly cancelled by Charing cross in London UK. The NHS sucks and should just call it a day. There are no more NHS dentists because they did not pay up when due. It is political, and the EU is involved big time. Thousands of free loaders move here and get everything for free whilst the quality of services to those who live here go down accordingly. The best place to live so far is six feet underground. The UK sucks big time and I no longer vote for this corrupt government system that produces blah blah all the time. To think that my family's blood was shed to protect this country and Europe from countless tyranny makes me sick. xJes

My Auntie was 104 when she died. I can't imagine living like I was born on the outside another 43 years. I was also born dead. I agree that being born this way sucks especially without any support from family and friends, doctors, professionals, surgeons, anyone accept the mengays. I admit that my feelings are mixed - whether to tell or not to tell. My perspective is that my medical history is not up for debate. If a partner were to demand of one factor, then what of other medical issues? And then I get to pick and choose whether to accept them because of their medical history. When does the nit-picking end? Fact is, legally, medically, biologically I AM female and have no obligation to tell any more than any other. Now if I had an STD or AIDS, that would be different; they are communicable diseases, transsexualism is NOT transmittable.

    • @TakeoFR
      @TakeoFR 8 років тому

SharonAnne N Assuming you are trans woman, you are not biologically female. You are either biologically male, or intersex. Medically... well you are trans, ie your biological sex will give cues to what disease you are more likely to get (you probably have a single X chromosome and are therefore more at risk to develop a X-linked recessive disease), and you are likely not at risk of ovarian cancer, but you still can have prostate cancer.
I agree that for simple sexual intercourse it shouldn't be relevant. But I still think it is better to say it, as it is relevant for some people.

Yes, I am both female inter-sexed and M-F transsexed. As I have tried describing here and elsewhere, I was born female with ambiguous anatomy that my birth room doctors erroneously presumed was male. They assigned me 'male' on my Birth Certificate, my family raised me as 'male'.
Through subsequent medical examinations, I always had female anatomy, not male anatomy; my anatomy was mal-developed to appear as male just as an inter-sexed male will have male anatomy that appears as female.
I had to repeatedly convince my physicians to do something to test me because I had absolutely no male function. I learned of my circumstance through the course of my M-F transition. It was a curious confirmation of my femaleness. That medical determination did not change my resolve to continue transition to female. Instead, I came to describe my transition as female-to-male-to-female.
My doctors offered to test my DNA. Back then (1982), they told me that it would cost $10.000 from my pocket. I said no thanks, not at that price. My DNA karyotype was irrelevant then and remains irrelevant today. A normal female can have XY and a normal male can have XX.
Will I experience DNA-related diseases? Who knows? Do I have other than XX or XY? Who knows?
I had neither testes nor ovo-testes; I had ovaries. That fact is part of my medical record. My surgeons removed my ovaries during a revision procedure. I have a hysterectomy scar that I wear proudly as a badge of my experience. I never had a prostate, therefore can never experience prostate cancer.
Many people will say that my appearance in childhood pictures is male. I then appear as female in photographs of me during my teen years (my first puberty feminised me). I developed a second puberty during my early 20s that began masculinising my appearance - mostly limited to facial hair, my voice remained female. My ERT during transition restored my female development.
I had two boyfriends (1980s) and one Lesbian girlfriend (1990s). None of those relationships went far enough that I considered telling. I do not know if I would have then; nor if I will in any future relationship. I always have been female, I merely lived an intervening number of years as a male. No gynecologist would know without me saying (since it is in my medical record, they otherwise do know). I have other medical conditions that I would not tell; I share those conditions with some people, others will never know.
I shall write that telling is between the partners and their relationship. I suppose as others do, I shall cross that bridge when I get there. To tell or not to tell, that is the question, indeed.
Bottom line, these are not choices we made - anatomy made them for us; we devised ways to cope and correct the errors.
      Thank you for your support.

SharonAnne N Thank you for taking the time to answer so extensively. You have an interesting story.
The 'Intersex Society of North America' states "People who identify as transgender or transsexual are usually people who are born with typical male or female anatomies but feel as though they’ve been born into the “wrong body.”", so I assume that your story is quite unusual for transgender.
The funny part is that I don't have to change anything from my last response: "Assuming you are trans woman, you are not biologically female". I don't think you can be properly called a trans. I wouldn't call an intersex a transsexual: if you identified as a men you would be called "trans-men", as you identify as a women you are called "trans-women"? Sounds as a weird use of the word trans.
But I suppose that as you were assigned male at birth by the doctors (did they throw a coin to choose?) you had to use the laws regarding transsexuals to get it corrected later. So you are legally M-F transsexed and biologically female inter-sexed.

      Yep.
Allow me to try presenting more of the scenario to you for your understanding.
I grew up told I was a boy. I did not know my inadequate male anatomy was inadequate; it was what I had and that was that. I did not know differently because I had what I had and that was what my parents told me was male - yep, perhaps the birth room doctors did flip that coin. The doctors decided as they did; my parents were likely of the mind to not question the doctors.
Exactly as you commented - my childhood female gender identity told me that I had the wrong body. I did not quite know really how wrong it was until many years later. If the doctor in 1982 came to the determination that I was 'male', then my course would have been solely as a M-F transsexual. In this sense, I was first a transsexual long before I was inter-sex. Both courses are true for my life.
I was at Summer camp at age nine when I first came to the awareness of my difference when all the boys stript naked to take a shower at the end of the week. They all stared at me and laughed; need I say that was a devastatingly humiliating experience. Nor was 9th Grade Gym class any better when we were directed to shower at the end of the class each day; I figured a way to always be the last one so that I was not noticed as much.
Yes, my self-identified gender has always been female regardless of my irregular anatomy as a child and teen. I began my course with the knowledge of that time that I was a 'male' at age 18 transitioning to female. My original transition doctors merely accepted my Birth Certificate documentation as 'male', therefore, in that sense, I began as a male-to-female transsexual (M-F) according to the provisions and protocols of that time. That was all that my doctors and I knew as of that time.
It took years trying to convince my physicians to explain why I had irregular anatomy; I began my own research instead. I came to be known among the users at the University of Utah Medical Center library and eventually had an appointment for an exam to answer - or at least review - my questions about my anatomy (1982). They first used a fluoroscope, were not satisfied, and then went for a direct look inside (I have my hysterectomy scar as my badge of honour). I have no internal male anatomy - e.g., no prostate. My external anatomy deemed that I could not have experienced a male function.
My mind-set was not favourable following those results. Yes, I re-evaluated my perspective. I wanted to proceed from that determination and continue my transition more so now that I could say that I am female physically as well as mentally.
You must understand that there was no such thing as Internet 30-some years ago - information was slow via the published book and journal.
There were barely 1000 cases of transsexuals in the USA at the end of the 1970s. I was my physicians' only transsexual patient through all those years (1974 - 1985). My counsellor told me in 1983 that I was the only one in the state of Utah. One counsellor last year told me that he recalled hearing about only one transsexual at Utah during that same time (1983 - 1985) - either that was me or he uncovered a second person unknown to me and my Utah counsellor. If you out there are the 'other' transsexual, then we gotta meet and form our own club.
As far as whether or not my past and path is 'quite unusual' (both transsexual and inter-sex), I do know at least a handfull or other inter-sexed members of the transsexual support groups that I began attending since last year. We may be a minority of a minority's minority, but we are here, though far less visible. I read at one inter-sex association web-site that many choose to not change their sex presentation - that they remain in their assigned sex though it may be their incorrect sex. I guess that I am in that minority, too.
I have considered making enquiries and joining an inter-sex support group where I reside; I have not bothered as yet. I am active enough with the transsexual support groups. Yes, I sense a belonging to both groups - one foot in the inter-sex path and one foot in the transsexual path.
Thank you, TakeoFR and others, for bearing along with this conversation.
