Tbf Vlad has always discussed open cases. Hell, he even brings lawyers on to discuss them in more detail, Tory Lanez etc. but what he doesn’t do is interview the person with the open case
It's an open case but these developments are public information. I think Vlad just wants Jake to explain the circumstances so the audience understands the details of the new charges since Jake obviously follows the trial. As long as Vlad doesn't say some goofy shit that could potentially bias a juror, I think it's fine to discuss an open case if you're just sticking to the published facts and looking to elaborate what it means or how it came about.

And don’t think gang members and criminals don’t know the law. They try denying and deceiving the laws for their crimes.
