Nice work Joey! A few constructive suggestions for the next one: Pre-tin the pads on the board this will help with soldering the pins down. Find a smaller diameter magnet wire, that one looked a bit big, it worked but I think it made your efforts harder than needed.
I can see exactly why that would make life SO much easier. When transferring the solder to the port pads, I was scared of doing too much or too little 😁 As for the wire, it's funny you say that as I have some thinner wire that came the other day. Believe it's 0.01mm instead of this, which I believe is 0.2mm. Thanks pal :)
Great job, my man! Especially for the first time - it looks big on the microscope, but those contacts are tiny. Just one suggestion (and this is just my stupid opinion) - maybe lower the music just a touch - helps when watching at night when the family's asleep lol. Still, great work!
That "Happy Joey" made me think about idea for emote. "geneti4Proud" xD That fixing was damn satisfying Joey! And add KFC while watching this... OOOOOOOH Life's good
Nice fix and video Joey 😉. It looks like your iron was suffering a lot and the solder you use is slightly matt and grainy, are you sure you are using a quality leaded solder? It looks like unleaded which would explain a lot.
Hey Kiki, thanks 😁 So the low melt solder I used was stuff from Wayne/Phil I'm pretty sure, so can't tell you what it was as I just have the wire and no case. I used lead free solder on the first ground leg of the port replacement toward the end of the video and that's where it wasn't setting correctly in my opinion, so then went back to the leaded one I have :) Yesterday some new solder arrived, Weller 60/40 so really looking forward to using that as it has great reviews.
Thanks for taking the time to post the video. I think your theory about the solder mask is reversed . It may actually be the fact you are using too much that it is having trouble curing all the way through and making a weak bond. Try using literally the thinnest layer you can get away with .
Nice fix mate, love the videos. I haven't done a hdmi replacement yet myself but hope I can get a console off eBay to attempt it. I'd love to see you do a retimer replacement, as I failed when I attempted it because I made too many mistakes, hopefully you can find success doing one. Also what microscope do you have? It says you have one of them LCD digital microscopes in your description but I didn't see the stand in the video, only your heat proof blue silicone Matt so assumed you weren't using the one in the description because I couldn't see the stand
Hey mate :) Thanks for watching as always pal. I use two different cameras, one of them is an overhead DSLR camera which you see most of the time, then the microscope I use is the one in the description for the soldering work :) I'll be trying a retimer soon I think! They're very small chips haha.
@@JoeyDoesTech oh right just thought you would of struggled balancing a motherboard on the base of one of those cameras when working on it if you get what I mean, with the motherboard going over the base. And yeah, world of advice for retimer is just be very cautious of the capacitors surrounding the retimer chip, if you knock them off and they go missing it's game over unless u have a donor board
I don't Froz sorry, but I've just bought some Weller low melt solder 60/40 from Amazon. Once I've given that a good test i'll let you know how it does :)
ive got one of these xbox ones and pretty sure ive gotta do this exact fix the hdmi port still works but as if the port isnt connected to the pads and keeps disconnected randomly and the port feels like its just hanging inside the console
Friend of mine gave me this red color flux to do his xbox s series hdmi port, he is saying its the best, but idk,I've never seen red flux before, nervous using it on the hdmi port, but idk it's his xbox so wtv, just asking around to see if anyone is familiar with this red color type flux
My first ever hdmi port repair too and the 15th trace ripped off fully I’m annoyed it wasn’t the 14 and wouldn’t matter. Where did you get the copper wire from?
Sweet fix Joey 🙂, I agree with Danny a little more heat from the iron would have helped overall though it doesn't have to look pretty just needs to work and it does so nice job 😉.
@@JoeyDoesTech Yes mate or a little preheat from hotair before attacking with the iron mate even if the board is only sitting warm it should help by not dragging heat away in that area buddy 🙂
Not a dumb question at all mate. Yep, you can carefully remove one and replace it on another Xbox :) You can also use the other HDMI port (HDMI In) as well.
Thank you lol I'm learning to fix my own Xbox one as we speak, how much does that stuff cost? Cuz I'm this close to fixing it, thought I would today untill I saw your video.. so I should get that ASAP and not mess with the Xbox untill I get that... Thank you sir 😂 u have made my day and earned a new subscriber 😂💯
Please help me my xbox one s say no signal and when i move it sightly many times to get the position it work but it is stack on 640x480 and it have many green dots on screen is it Display ic or hdmi port and the hdmi port is damaged on pint beans
The pace of this video was a little different to the others, but I wanted to try it 😁
Did you enjoy this one? 😊
Yup! It was really easy to watch and straight to the point. Cheers and good job on the fix.
Fantastic! Nice fix!
Perfect as the a man said straight to the point!
Very good joey great job happy for ya!
Where do I get the extra HDMI ports
Damn that console was so dirty it should be 18+ just to watch
😂😂😂
Wow! That was a clean repair. You are looking like a pro lately man.
Haha I wouldnt go that far Jay but thanks for the compliment 😁 Hope you enjoyed 👍
Nice work Joey!

Awesome job Joey!
This felt like a speedrunner edition of My Mate Vince - not even time for a "Good morning, good afternoon, good evening". 😉
Thanks Toxo :)
Awesome video mate. The song at 6:03 sounds so familiar. It's actually bugging me. But great job
All the songs I use are on a website called Epidemic Sound, and I'm pretty sure LOADS of other UA-camrs use the songs from it :)

Thanks KP! Really appreciate the feedback as well. Noted 😊👍
This video was amazing and interesting to watch plus I hope that everyone have a wonderful day
Thanks Isaiah! Appreciate it :)
Excellent work m8, I think the hdmi port actually desoldered itself from all the dirt inside lol.
Haha it wanted to escape. Thanks for watching as always Roy 😁
Curious whether or not you had to use a heat gun at all? I need to change the HDMI port on the xbox my wife and I bought our boys.
Nice one joey 😃 new editing style was very good 👍 thumbs up from me
Thanks Si :)
Another xbox fixed amazing your killing it
Thanks Dak, we've been very lucky should I say :)
07:56 Man, I love it how the solder is not really doing what you want. Had this so many times until today :-).
Well done!) Thank you for your positive!
Thankyou Nick for watching :)
I’m happy to see that you have gotten better at soldering bud! I was the same way when I first started
Thank you! Practice :D
What TS100 tip for soldering HDMI pins?
very nice job joey. when you solder normally it is better not to use low melt solder, it does not solder well from what i saw
Thanks Renata :) Yeah I was using the low melt and agree it didnt flow to well when I was finishing up.
That "Happy Joey" made me think about idea for emote. "geneti4Proud" xD

And add KFC while watching this... OOOOOOOH
Life's good
Hahaha love that Krus! Thanks pal, how was the KFC? :)
It made me bigger than Gragas
And Happier than Ornn when he is alone :D
Did they live in a house made of dust? That can't be good for them to be breathing if the xbox looks like that.
they likely didnt clean it at all since they got it, im pretty sure he said that it was unopened

Excellent fix! Iron seemed too cool..
Thanks OldSkool :) Agreed!
Can i ask what scope are you using?
Hey Niel. It's this one - Andonstar AD407 amzn.to/3mKFUtL

What does the leaded solder do? Why did you need it just to get it to drop off?
Hey I have a question, what is the name of the hdmi replacement you bought? Or a link? I cannot find it
Hey :) It's A809A.
Poor Xbox One S feel neglected 🥺 but overall good fix
Sweet fix Joey 🙂, I agree with Danny a little more heat from the iron would have helped overall though it doesn't have to look pretty just needs to work and it does so nice job 😉.
Yeah I think you're right pal. More heat from the iron, or perhaps a bigger tip for better heat transfer :)

Put a shell to dishwasher its vlean nicely every hole. Best effect is on xbox one s shells

Do I need that sticky shit to fix to replace it forreal? Shit I didn't know bruh
The flux? HIGHLY recommended :)

What do you use to clean excess solder?
Sometimes the solder sucker, but most wick :) I'm out at the moment so cant grab the name but will when I'm back :)
@@JoeyDoesTech I meant to say to clean the soldering iron 😅
Can i take the another hdmi in and replace in hdmi out?
Hey pal, I'm pretty sure you can yes! I've seen some other people do it when they don't have stock of ports.
Could I take the hdmi port out of the Xbox one and put it in the series x
I need a new HDMI port on my Xbox one s and I don't have any repair shops close to my location and I have lots of stuff on this console
Got quoted $150 at a local shop to do this. Got excited one night and yanked out the cord too hard moving it to a friends house. Is that a fair price?
I wouldn't say it is considering it doesn't cost too much more to just buy a new console
What’s that copper wire called and what’s it for
It’s to replace the broken trace on the pins on the hdmi port, otherwise it wouldnt work without that pin being soldered with the wire
can i pay you to fix my xbox its the hdmi port also it like wont pop up on my tv but it turns on
Hahaha "rock solid" if I prod it now.... This style of video was good. Looked like you was not getting enough heat in that iron.
Thanks Danny :) Yeah I had it at 400c, but can get some firmware to increase that so might just do it!
How much to fix mine I’ll ship to u
Wow! Wow! Wow!
❤❤❤
To be frank you had it done first time then you went back over it twice & screwed it
Can u come fix my Xbox for me please
Bro not explaining shit.
