I headed back to junior college and had heard "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" a couple of times on the radio. I get to my dorm and a couple of brothers from Topeka had the vinyl pumping so I could hear the whole album, which I liked so much I went and bought my own copy. Enjoyed their music over the years.
I hope Mary is not having any more health issues. God bless all the members.

    Thanks For this.
Mary Davis, Abdul Ra'oof, the entire SOS Band and every funk (person/group) out there are in a special place in my heart. Thanks for your hard work, without your talent is sure would be boring growing up.
The first time I was exposed to funk was Parliament's One Nation, then George Clinton's Double Oh Oh and I was hooked.

I love this band they are still awesome. They are giving good information out to our kids about reaching higher grounds becoming doctors, lawyers, mathematician, engineer, ceo your own company. Learn how to play an instrument for extra brain power to calm you down when you become some of the above careers mention. Music makes the heart feel good. It makes you happy. Total relaxation for the mind body and soul.

I often express that when I listen to black music from the 70s 80s prior rap era , it is the kind of music that motivates one to pursue higher education. In contrast, rap music tends to have a detrimental effect on the community, with some songs being vulgar, offensive, and frequently using derogatory language such as the constant use of the N-word 24/7
I am glad you mentioned that learning to play an instrument, like the drum
, guitar saxophone , violin etc , further develops the brain. It is indeed true. As a matter of fact, I recently started playing the piano during the COVID-19 pandemic for that very reason."

HOW THE FUNK CAPITAL OF THE WORLD IS FIGHTING TO KEEP ITS LEGACY ALIVE IN DAYTON OHIO!
    Stephen StarrJUN 19 2019.
When Dayton’s The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center - aka TheFunkCenter - opened in December 2017, locals delighted in it marrying a proud musical tradition with hope for the revival of a city long down on its luck. Built to celebrate the Ohio city’s reputation as ground zero of the funk world, the center drew volunteers and experts from the Netherlands, Japan and the U.K. and superstar names from Dayton’s 1970s and ’80s funk scene, who pieced together the decades-old instruments, records and memorabilia on display. Tickets to the opening ceremony sold out in days.

We grabbed them after a concert, and the only place available was an open area in the through way. We totally agree but it's the SOS Band. Couldn't pass it up. Thank you for your feed-back.

    FUNK MEMORABILIA.
    Hey Funk Fans!,
The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center (TheFunkCenter) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of Funk music. We are accomplishing this goal through establishing a museum to display a variety of memorabilia from past and current Funk musicians. We would welcome any memorabilia you could contribute as an in-kind contribution to the museum.
We are looking for musical instruments, programs, costumes worn on stage, sheet music or any other artifact that exemplifies your experience as a part of this vibrant music genre.
TheFunkCenter is also creating a youth music program that will help replace the arts programs removed from public schools. We know that you are all accomplished musicians, and we want the youth to understand that you got that way through hard work and studying until you had mastered your voice or instrument. We are asking you to be a part of this dream by volunteering your time when possible for a Masters Series of lectures for our participants. Whether your role is on stage performing, or behind the scenes, we want our students to understand the whole array of performing arts through your stories.
    Sincerely
    David R Webb Sr
