I've got to say, the new grille grew on me. I saw a 430i Gran coupe (in M Sport styling), and it looks really good as long as the grille surround/insides are in black.
In the old generation, you were like “ok I’ll pay the extra cause the 440GC looks a bit better than the 340i.” But this time around I’m like “yeah so I’ll save 10k and get the cheaper 340 cause it looks 100x better”

My guess is every car model will have the highest price in singapore because you pay to drive in a huge city for x amount of time, if I'm correct! :)
Man it hurts. I used to check M car or AMG prices in Northern Denmark, Norway and Finland. (not sure if it's similar in Sweden) It's crazy expensive. Cars like X6M or X5M are so popular in the bigger markets. But you need to be super rich just to get some m40i in the Northern Europe, let alone M power? That doesn't make any sense！
Drove exactly same car here in Finland month ago 440i M with all extras. It was sporty car and fuel effiency was good for 6 cyl engine. I liked it. But it feels small and u are like squeezed inside the car. Also drove 420d. It was nice too.
Bought this car in the shadow line package over a month ago. Me and the wife love it. Test drove 3 series & in the states surrounded by big vehicles, 3 series are great but TOO small. Plus for the money give me the newer grille! ‘22 3 series visually was no different looking from any previous year.

I have a 420d (previous generation) and I think it’s much more practical than a 3 series due to the much better boot entry and well, it looks much better … but in Portugal at least , the price difference wasn’t so huge, so maybe that’s why I like it so much against the 3 series

I remember the 3 series costed around 5.000€ less but if you added some extras to make it exactly the same as the 4 series, the price difference would be even smaller …. And I still like the 4 series better in the way it looks (frameless doors are beautiful and the coupe line is gorgeous), and as family car with kids between 12 and 17 (none near 6 foot or 1,80m) the car is perfect and has a very big and practical boot

I really don’t think it looks any more “sporty” than the 3 series now. Sits too high and just doesn’t look as sleek as the old gen. Also those door handles don’t look right to my eye but each to their own.
i currently drive the old f36 gen and totally agree, i prefer the look of it over this one. But the interior on the f chassis cars are pretty bland/outdated for a luxury car, a lot of models don't even have CarPlay lol
Harmon kardon is the best sound system you can have and luckily its usually only available for BMWs.If you’re into your music, do not get the standard sound system

Surely if splashing out this kinda dough, why not go for a late f82 m4! Looks better, awesome performance, cabin space is surprisingly great (even for a family of 4 - no trouble having four adults in the car either). The only trade off is not a four wheel drive. Well, I can live with that 😊
I’ve seen it many times in person and it doesn’t look as bad. It actually stands out from its competitors and really makes it look aggressive. While I hated it when I first saw it, I think it was a smart move by BMW

That’s with all higher end models. The lesser vehicles will have stuff a 7 series doesn’t have. Audi’s for example have less equipment than VW and VW usualt has less than SEAT. And the A1 has stuff than the A6 doesn’t even have. Virtual cockpit, dynamic indicators, tinted windows etc were all options on the A6 but not the A1. It’s mainly used to sell cheaper cars especially when that’s the way Asian car manufacturers flog cars.
I like the grill on the 4 Series and I haven't hated it in the beginning. It suits the car and I understand where it's coming from. Honestly I think the 4 Series is one of the most beautiful cars in the lineup

Good vid that. With every drag race you do, why don't you have a 'standard' 4cyl car that goes up against all the other cars for every drag race done. Whichever car is the most popular bought in the UK for a 4cyl. A bit like Top Gears' reasonably priced car so it's a great comparison to show how quick these outrageously priced cars are. You could use your daily drive but they're normally a bit special for the high profile journalists. I find that the rear seats on 4GC is so much smaller than 3 that, there are little points to cross-shop between the two if someone need rear seat at any semi-regarlar basic. IMO 4GC is more like 4 coupe+ - great for singles and DINKs that rarely used the rear seat, but appreciated the practicality of the lift-back.
The annoying thing about BMW (as with many other producers) is the fact that there are plenty of restrictions for additional options. At the moment you cannot get a touch screen, HUD display, merino leather, laser lights... You can order the car, but you don't know what options it will lose when waiting for it to be produced. You don't know when you get the car either.
Car is absolutely gorgeous in person. I purchased this car in Brooklyn grey and have to say the Brooklyn grey is by far the best color for this car. I had the rims powder coated in black as well which makes a huge difference. Bi-color rims just don't do much for me. The front or rather the grill has gotten more compliments than anything else about the car. It seems to be the BMW people that don't like grills. Most people really favor them.
@@tomtaietot I really like Dravit as well, but I wanted a lighter grey. You can't go wrong either way. I ordered mine in September and didn't get it until December 2nd. Mine has no power seats as well which is so odd to me. Either way you will love it. I loved the way it looked in pictures and now that I see it in person the pictures don't do it justice.
What is the point of the self closing flaps being closed in the grille? May as well just have them stay open at all times. It’s not like the engine will be too cold.
I prefer the M3/M4 front end because of the huge air inlets either side of the grille and the fact that all the chrome elements this M440i has, has been ditched. Looks mean as f****! Still, really nice coupe the 4GC, though the 8GC wipes the floor with it in the design department, one of the best looking BMWs ever.
They are almost all either lease or a PCP deal, which is why every double glazing salesman in Christendom is driving one about but none of them actually own it 🤣

Someone please explain to me why the 420i as well as the 430i have a 2.0l engine. Doesn't this part of BMW's naming system tell you exactly about that?
A very long time ago, BMW's were named according to their engine size. So a 30i had a 3.0l, a 20i had a 2.0l. But thanks to environment regulations, they had to downsize their engines and put turbos on it to keep the same amount of power. A 20i and a 30i basically share the same engine, but the ECU let's the 30i develop full power. The 20i is limited. Same thing for the 18d and 20d: a remap on the 150 hp 18d easily gives you the 190hp you get in a 20d.
after having owned some BMWs If bought an Audi A5 Sportback because delivery times on BMW 4 series were way too long and boy do I regret it a lot. BMW is a better designed in and out, tech is way better and a rear wheel drive car is much more fun to drive. Love BMW. Also the service in a BMW dealer is 100 times better.
I remember that door handle was old design that some say when accident occurred the door may jammed up so later the handle became a bar shape for rescuers have some thing to pull...now it`s trendy again!!??
Having a plate on the grille makes such a huge difference. I feel it’s a bit more tolerable with the plate on. Otherwise it just looks too in ur face when it is just the grille
Hard to believe those wheels are 19'' I was waiting to hear they were some winter tyre 17's, must be the design. I'm still struggling with the grille even bow having seen a few more on the road..
The front design grew on me to the degree that I don't mind the grill anymore. The color on the other hand... hideous af! It's all subjective though. Cheers

I concur! I bought the 420i M Sport with the M Sport pro pack to have all the blacked out grilles/windows. It looks so much better than the chrome.

And I still like the 4 series better in the way it looks (frameless doors are beautiful and the coupe line is gorgeous), and as family car with kids between 12 and 17 (none near 6 foot or 1,80m) the car is perfect and has a very big and practical boot

I really don’t think it looks any more “sporty” than the 3 series now. Sits too high and just doesn’t look as sleek as the old gen. Also those door handles don’t look right to my eye but each to their own.

It shares the platform with the I4 unfortuneatly, the car is raised so batterys fit underneath..

i currently drive the old f36 gen and totally agree, i prefer the look of it over this one. But the interior on the f chassis cars are pretty bland/outdated for a luxury car, a lot of models don't even have CarPlay lol

Harmon kardon is the best sound system you can have and luckily its usually only available for BMWs.If you’re into your music, do not get the standard sound system

That’s with all higher end models. The lesser vehicles will have stuff a 7 series doesn’t have. Audi’s for example have less equipment than VW and VW usualt has less than SEAT. And the A1 has stuff than the A6 doesn’t even have. Virtual cockpit, dynamic indicators, tinted windows etc were all options on the A6 but not the A1. It’s mainly used to sell cheaper cars especially when that’s the way Asian car manufacturers flog cars.
I like the grill on the 4 Series and I haven't hated it in the beginning. It suits the car and I understand where it's coming from. Honestly I think the 4 Series is one of the most beautiful cars in the lineup

One thing, when you are talking about tire noise I think it might depend on the tires the car currently is having as I assume not all cars are delivered on the same tires. But I might be wrong.
Depends on the car, high performance cars which are more likely to get OEM spec tyres almost always come on the same tyres.

Good vid that. With every drag race you do, why don't you have a 'standard' 4cyl car that goes up against all the other cars for every drag race done. Whichever car is the most popular bought in the UK for a 4cyl. A bit like Top Gears' reasonably priced car so it's a great comparison to show how quick these outrageously priced cars are. You could use your daily drive but they're normally a bit special for the high profile journalists. Anyway, thought it would be great to see all the drag races include an everyday car which would lose almost all of the time. Thanks for making all the vids, Merry Christmas to Team Carwow. 👍🎅🎄

I find that the rear seats on 4GC is so much smaller than 3 that, there are little points to cross-shop between the two if someone need rear seat at any semi-regarlar basic. IMO 4GC is more like 4 coupe+ - great for singles and DINKs that rarely used the rear seat, but appreciated the practicality of the lift-back.

The annoying thing about BMW (as with many other producers) is the fact that there are plenty of restrictions for additional options. At the moment you cannot get a touch screen, HUD display, merino leather, laser lights... You can order the car, but you don't know what options it will lose when waiting for it to be produced. You don't know when you get the car either.
Car is absolutely gorgeous in person. I purchased this car in Brooklyn grey and have to say the Brooklyn grey is by far the best color for this car. I had the rims powder coated in black as well which makes a huge difference. Bi-color rims just don't do much for me. The front or rather the grill has gotten more compliments than anything else about the car. It seems to be the BMW people that don't like grills. Most people really favor them.

@@tomtaietot I really like Dravit as well, but I wanted a lighter grey. You can't go wrong either way. I ordered mine in September and didn't get it until December 2nd. Mine has no power seats as well which is so odd to me. Either way you will love it. I loved the way it looked in pictures and now that I see it in person the pictures don't do it justice.

I prefer the M3/M4 front end because of the huge air inlets either side of the grille and the fact that all the chrome elements this M440i has, has been ditched. Looks mean as f****! Still, really nice coupe the 4GC, though the 8GC wipes the floor with it in the design department, one of the best looking BMWs ever.
I remember hating on the grille a year ago. Now, it is somewhat growing on me.

Someone please explain to me why the 420i as well as the 430i have a 2.0l engine. Doesn't this part of BMW's naming system tell you exactly about that?
A very long time ago, BMW's were named according to their engine size. So a 30i had a 3.0l, a 20i had a 2.0l. But thanks to environment regulations, they had to downsize their engines and put turbos on it to keep the same amount of power. A 20i and a 30i basically share the same engine, but the ECU let's the 30i develop full power. The 20i is limited. Same thing for the 18d and 20d: a remap on the 150 hp 18d easily gives you the 190hp you get in a 20d.

after having owned some BMWs If bought an Audi A5 Sportback because delivery times on BMW 4 series were way too long and boy do I regret it a lot. BMW is a better designed in and out, tech is way better and a rear wheel drive car is much more fun to drive. Love BMW. Also the service in a BMW dealer is 100 times better.
