Really glad to see more of these, honestly its nice to have someone who cooks and talks to everyone not as a chef, but as regular people. It makes sense he admits faults and gives tips you'd give to a friend if you taught them how too cook. its a helpful thing and gets the point across better I feel. Hope you'll do more of these and maybe even take a request or two from the fans here.
Keifer, I totally understand about the anxiety of not knowing how to cook and not feeling confident enough to try something new. I had a serious illness a few years ago which left me seriously malnourished. Because of that, I began craving, not just any food, but really delicious food! So I gave myself many tutorials on UA-cam and now I am proud to call myself a real chef!!!! And because of my delicious, nutritious food, I have healed my body and I am now healthy!!!! Thank you for encouraging other nervous cooks into being brave enough to try to be creative in the kitchen!!! Once you understand the basics of cooking, you suddenly understand, "it wasn't that hard". "I was being a big baby for NO reason!" and my favourite, "This isn't rocket science!" Keep cooking my friend! Keep teaching! You're doing a wonderful job Keifer!!!!

Were you not concerned about him handling the raw meat, and then touching oven gloves and tongs, and everything without washing his hands? It's one of the most important things we were told on the food hygiene course I did... Kiefer is so chilled and I'm sure it tastes lovely but.. Damn it kiefer, wash your hands lol xxx

I met you at Wales comic con on Sunday during the photo ops (i have bright blue hair) and told you I'm really enjoying your cooking video and that stand by me is my favourite movie of all time. There was so much i wanted to tell you but with it being super busy, and you could only have a minute to get through so many people's, that was all i could nervously splutter out lol (thank you for the free cd on the way out!). Stand by me has gotten me through some of most the darkest moments in my life, even just listening to the song (there's an amazing cover by lemmy btw!) Makes me think of the film and I'm happy for the rest of the day. My father and i binged watching 24 together, we bonded so much during that time and are very close, he loves you as jack lol. Your cooking videos are funny, entertaining, real, and inspiring. You really are never too old to learn new things ❤ thank you for everything you do and the fact that you play littlefoots dad in the land before time makes you coolest guy ever!!! 😁 xx

It was awesome, i just wish my anxiety wasn't playing up so much i could beraly speak to him lol. I had to join the que on my own and there was a lot of people's around so that made things worse for me and was panicking until i was at the front. He was so lovely, and gave me hug. His soft spoken voice helped soothe me and that made me feel so much better ^_^ Stephen king's my favourite writer too! 😊

i love seeing and knowing that "everyone is the same" .. he gets anxious .. he tells us what made him anxious and how he puts those thoughts aside and "trusts in the cooking timing" .. i appreciate that he almost anticipates "our" anxieties about a dish by telling us he's felt the same way and it's going to be ok .. thank you sir :)

Your voice is very relaxing to me because of how often I listened to it growing up. There is such nostalgia for me connected to it. That stew looks amazing! The first time your dog barked I jumped out of my skin because I had ear buds in listening to your video lol. Then I got a glimpse of your dog and my heart melted. I had a blue heeler, Daisy May, for about 12 yrs. She passed several years ago, and I still miss her so much. This is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I think I'll be watching more.

How cool you have a UA-cam channel. I have had that same cook book for close to twenty years. Every recipe in it is amazing. They have all been tested and tried with many variations and then they explain why the one (or several) that they highlight is best. You really scored when you found this gem. Thanks for sharing and encouraging novice chefs to "go for it".

Just another interesting fact: When Kiefer talks in the beginning about having everything "ready" before starting, he is referring to mise en place (French pronounced: meese-on-plahs) meaning "everything in it's place". I just learned that 2 weeks ago when I took a class at the Santa Fe School of Cooking.
If you're in the restaurant biz, it's just called "Meez". :P

I was shocked to come up on him cooking. Never watched his shows as I did not care for him as a person. I guess he mellowed with age. I did watch a few of him as Mr. President but none of his other series. He did good in this video.
If you haven't seen it, I ask that you consider the TV series, Touch, where his character, Martin Bohm, is the father of an autistic child. Much different than some of his other roles.

Mise en place is key for anything. I would use beef stock in this, and some tomato paste. Those ingredients will give this more depth of flavour. Also some rosemary will be nice in there. Just my take on this. Chefs I worked with said beef stew needs tomato paste and rosemary. They are best friends they said. I agreed, and also mushrooms and soya sauce instead of the salt is superier seasoning.
Kenny Roberts I agree , I always use beef stock and tomato puree and thyme and rosemary to my beef stews
He added wine, that would be a replacement the tomato paste. Wine is acidic and also as a depth of flavor. When the alcohol is cooked off you're left with the flavor to.

Not sure why this came up in my UA-cam feed, but so glad it did! Been an ATK/CI devotee for years, and this cookbook is the bible of all cookbook bibles. Their show is very good, but this was wonderful to see it in a non-pro's kitchen (meant as the highest compliment!), with real commentary along the way. Really, really enjoyed this, could be the next career:-). Speaking of which, as a back-up singer and classical violinist who has worked with plenty of rock/folk/etc. bands, a nice additional surprise was the link to the Reckless & Me album-- absolutely phenomenal, fabulous voice and songs and band and production. Just fantastic. Very much looking forward to more from you on this venture, as well!

We’re retired, surfacing youTube at 4:00am is what we do. So this morning we come across Kiefer Sutherland, that would be you, and some stew recipe. The normal viewing is about woodworking and machine shop practices, today it’s watch some guy, that would be you, make stew. So while telling my bride about your stew, and one awesome kitchen, over coffee this am she tells me we have a Walmart chuck roast in the freeze why don’t you try it, well ok, I tell her. The short story is, your Irish Stew is awesome. Can’t believe how good it is. Wow, that is an excellent meal. Thank you for taking the time you did to record how you made the stew, it really is a wonderful meal. this man has lots of patience! I also grew up with this type of comfort food though I seldom eat beef now. It is great to see a celebrity able to feed himself and or family without professional chef all the time....and also cool to see him following an actual recipe book which is quite traditional way ... thanks to the you tube he can share this with all of us......hey I noticed the chess clock on the shelf....someone is serious about his chess playing!!! thanks for your channel! (here's a little story...I haven't watched or had TV in many years but in 2006 when my son was living with me for a few months he started watching your 24 Collection to catch up and I ended up binge-watching with him and it was very compelling to say the least.....my son has great taste, clearly!!!) thanks Kiefer and bless your family.
