As someone who owns the original version G3 pedal it'd be fun if you could do a direct A-B comparison with the original pedals.. wondering if I need this lol
Own G3 version. Very good for tight detailed distortion sound. Even get out of it gained Cello-Violin like sound (with very light touch on a strings and boost with EQ before and after). Very awesome pedal. I use boost before G3 and after. Works really great 👍🏻 Very touch sensitive dynamic and responsive to guitar Vol knob. I can play from almost clean to heavy distorted (even fuzz) sound just from my changes in picking of strings. Very variative. So I can regulate my tone, DS and dynamic just through picking and vol knob.
What’s weird is I have a mkiii rev A, and my clean channel does not break up at all. It stays nice and clean lots of head room, so the rev b must be a bit different. I have the new g50 aswell, and noticed after this vid if I went past 1/2 on the channel level it started to break up. So it must be something they are doing with these newer amps. I had mine set with 6l6 tubes instead of the el34s, but the g50s tone is gnarly. I have a mki gen 100, and the clean channel on it is crystal clear. So has to be something with the new amps. I had all the g pedals at one point and sold em cause I finally had the real thing in the amp, but now I kinda wanna check em out again! You should do another vid to see how they react with a boost in front of the pedals. I did it with the old g3, and it worked fantastic!! Noisy, but fantastic!

I wanna build a pedal called the "Scream Tuber".... I own a Blackout G4. My favorite distortion pedal i own... But to get it to sound amazing typically means running it into a tube power section, but the pre-amp sections of all my tube amps are mostly better than the G4... Its an amazing pedal, just dont find much use for it...
I had all of the original pedals, but I ended up selling the G3 and keeping the G2 and G4. I found the G3 to have a muffled sound, to be noisy and not like stacking with other overdrives. I do wonder if these issues were addressed because I know it wasn't just me experiencing it.
I think there is something wrong with me... The first signs were there already when not liking mesa boogies... But also I just don't seem to vibe with revv... A few weeks back I did try the generator 120 mk3 again... Whatever I tried... It is not doing it for me! I need help 😶🌫️
I agree with you on Revv, I don't jive with any of the demos I've seen either. Though the Mesa Boogie mark series continue to surprise me, I'd definitely consider a Mark V 35 when I finally get around to dropping on a real amp. I guess that's the beauty of it all, so many options. I can't actually play a real amp since I live in an Apt and haven't had an amp in so long at this point. So far I'm not convinced just getting one to use with IRs would be appreciably different from plugins. GAS is real though. :)
I got the original G3 and G4 perdals and not sure how different these new ones are from original ones.. I'm thinking to buy the new G2 due to the fact its the only one missing but still not sure the difference between new and one :D would be great to hear an A-B of all of them
Have I noticed you using ML cabs over ownhammer these days? I left ML for ownhammer and really don’t like Mikko 2 anymore. Can I ask what you dig with the ML packs these days?
I was almost expecting a comparison between the pedals and the respective amp channels they were designed after! I wonder how close the pedals get to the amp itself when run through the power section 🤔
I think the pickups & amp played a bit more into that harshness ur hearing. He briefly mentions it in the video. My G4 played with a Seymour JB and played through effects loop sounds surgical and defined, but maybe that's just my set up and I got lucky or something 👍

The originals are excellent, you definitely do not “need” this.
@@eriklamelakillingspree7690 yes he does… we all do.
They won’t do that because then you’ll see there’s no reason to buy the new one!
@@c4k3twowrong, this is a v2 with diferent sound
You coming up with excuses. 😂. We always need more gear. ✌️💯❤️
Thanks again Jon for making me spend money . Love the G4 one the best . Just ordered it . 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Your content always fantastic.
Thanks John!
You made the right choice in my opinion... Everyone praises the G3, but ive always vibed with the G4 much more.

Pink is definitely your color. Sweet. ❤
love these pedals

bro, g3 dont have a clang at end of the sound? like has 5150 amp and his clones

FUCK YEA!!!! Have the REVV G50 and absolutely love these pedals running through the my clean (BLUE) channel!!! Unbelievable headroom
These are super sick
🤘🏽REVV RULES 🤘🏽 brining metal to the masses
Holy the LEDs are different colors now. That's worth buying them for.
@@MrJingles021 they revised the circuits
@SonicDriveStudio So far I've only seen a comparison of the G2. The G2 and G4 have lived in my board for a few years now. I love them.
Good stuff.Reff and Medusa and you are sorted.

Just on looks much prefer the old ones. Great pedals regardless
This is great marketing, I’m about to buy all three
Are these just new enclosures? seems like no changes from the older v.1, right?
I got my G3 today and I didn’t win shit! Lmao. I have awful luck when it comes to drawings. Pedal sounds fantastic!!
Good contenders for to boost or not!
Do a video comparing the originals and the new ones!
As a CNC Machinist, those knobs have my wallet dead to rights.

I don't know if it's just me, but the bass in the demo song sounded very good (better than before?). Did you use the Ibanez for this track?
is there a big difference between the original one and this one ?

What do you use for your bass tones these days?
If you were building a amp on a pedalboard rig, do the G3 and G4 take well to being boosted like an actual amp?

To me, they sound a bit harsh and slightly fuzzy. The G3 is less annoying, but still not my cuppa.

I have the original G3 - definitely not as fuzzy as it sounds here. My favorite pedal

Using these pedals, can you run them straight to a IR? I don’t have a power amp.
Oooh. Shiny !
Get all 3 pedals and a Seymour Duncan power stage and you are about a 3rd the cost of a Generator 🤔. Where's my visa.
yeah man ive run a g4 through just a cab sim and its pretty sick. combine with a lower gain one and youve got a good clean and high gain channel.
🤘
