As for the Vader ANH V1 and V2: It is very common in the film industry to have at least two of any given prop for redundancy and second unit / insert shots. I have no doubt that is why there were two belt-hangers seen in the film
I used to hate the DV3 since I first saw it in the ROTS visual dictionary. It’s grown on me and I love it now! When we went to Galaxy’s Edge earlier this year, I noticed the Vader sabers they were selling had the DV3 hilt. Made me happy. Great video Mo!
Perfect start on my sunday morning, to wake up and find a new clip on my favourite channel. This one was super intresting. My plan is to have ANH collection with the belt hangers and learned which on I will go for. I loved this clip, thank you so much 😊
You know, from watching a lot of your videos, I've become a big fan of the ANH V2. Its the only OT Vader hilt I lack in the collection. Your DV6 is beautifully weathered!
Great video as always and awesome collection! Could the ANH v2 have become the ESB hero? They share similar features such as the clamp lever being screwed in the same side and the black clamp bars and small b port.
Thank you I appreciate it! It’s absolutely possible. I had the same theory but it was shot down by some other people who I trust, but at the end of the day there really is no 100% solid proof. The B port on the ESB is definitely large, however the only publicly available photo of the V2 has the B port angled away from frame, so I don’t know how people know it’s a small B port. They must know something we don’t! My only issue with that theory is what could have happened in 3 years that they needed to machine a new steel shroud, add a bubble strip, and new grips? If you ever find out please let me know! 😉
Hi mate I'm loving these videos they are really informative. I have a question about Vader's return of the jedi hero hilt. I cannot see a single scene in the movie where you can actually see the hilt hanging off his belt. I thought i read something years ago that the hero prop had been stolen prior to filming jedi and they never made a new one hence why you can't see it at all in the movie. Do you have any information in regards to this or any scenes that you can see it hanging off his belt?
Hi mate thanks for the feedback. Great question! You have to appreciate how hard it is to spot that saber on his belt especially with his cloak in the way. He really only takes it off to use during the duel at the end at which point it’s mostly one of 2 or 3 stunt sabers. There had to be a belt-hanger and although it’s impossible to clearly make out in the film, there are promo shots of Vader for ROTJ where you can clearly see the wires of the ESB MPP. I do not believe it was stolen mate. It exists today in its rusty post-production look in a private collection. There were several lightsabers that mysteriously vanished though, the most notable being Obi-Wan’s.
New accuracy mod for you I just learned this today. On wannawanga’s website he’s selling a little black square piece that you stick on right next to the clamp for the Vader ESB. Picture on his website with the hilt on vaders belt for proof
Do we know for sure the switch for powering the motor for the stunt sabers was on the stunt sabers themselves? The reason I ask is that if it were me, I would have simplified things by placing the switch near the power source instead, that way you don’t need to have a small hidden switch
@@kirksealls1912 we do not know for sure but based on the images of the Luke stunt and Obi stunt the switches on both those are definitely on the bodies, so it’s likely they went the same route with the square shroud. The power source was a battery pack hidden up the actors sleeve so I’m guessing it’s easier for them to toggle on and off on the actual hilt for action scenes

Yeh that’s a recent discovery! Very cool! That particular greeblie only appears in two scenes: Hoth and aboard the Executor
