Thanks for your help. I have recently taken the sub out of the enclosure and I could not find anything. I then rebuilt the enclosure as there was some slight damage to the carpet. I have never experience this rattling noise like this before at low volumes. Very strange. Thanks again
It's likely that this remote or trigger wire is connected to a constant 5v line. (This line stays on even when car is turned off) what you may want to do is take a look at your car and splice the trigger wire to something that turns off when the car is off. So something like say your plate lights or in some cases the deck may have a dedicated trigger line out from it. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tip! I did exactly what you've shown. What does it mean when the rated 4 Ohms subwoofer reading is only at 1.3 - 1.5 on the reading? Does that mean it's pretty much dead or something? I did a test on the 2nd sub and that one seems normal; rated at 3.9.
eHow I Own a Sony HT-M5 Home theatre component system ... while playing loud music suddenly my system turned off and smoke started coming out of the Subwoofer_(model- SS-WP7M) ... now when i connect my subwoofer to my reciever and play songs, a distorting vibrating noise comes from the subwoofer... any idea if it can be repaired?
TechBuzz Wow, this actually sounds like some short has been developed which let DC get right into your subwoofer and fry it. On a side note eletronics work on smoke, don't you know? When the (magical) smoke escapes, your electronics stop working :D

pioneer makes a 2 ohm and 4 ohm version of a 12 inch sub which one should i get or does it not matter? which one will sound better off an alpine 1000 watt rms amp?
any ohm but not above 4ohm! or your amp will short because of lack of resistance. 4ohm will make your woofer sound the full sound and 2ohm won't be that loud. but if you want your thing to last longer then i prefer you'd install an 2ohm.
Hi! I saw that you are an expert on car audio. I have installed a Pioneer AVH X2800-BS in my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder w/ the Bose system. I did install the Scosche CNN02 adapter as well. I had it set up and it was sounding good, but I lost sound in all four speakers (first the front and then the rear) after about 30mins of use. A buzzing noise coming from under the front right fender started to occur once the sound was lost. I am wondering what is going on! Thanks
one of mys subs blew a voice coil and the other is reading 2.9 ohms on each voice coil steady when its 4 ohm DVC... is this half blown ??? is it still useable? it was hooked up wrong before..only 1 vc was being used..
Don't forget the tap test. If you tap the cone and hear a fuzzy rattling or scratching it may have a coil broken free of the bobbin. You may not hear that just moving the cone in and out.
how are you at soldering those little wires together? My hands shake enough to piss me off when I'm trying to solder but I think that was years of using impact guns and such at my work.
hey guys. im new to caur audio systems. and just got my subwoofer yesterday. it plays in 4 ohm as well as in this vid my questions is. 1. the terminals on each side of the sub is for what amplifier and ? 2. the sub i got can take 600 wrms does it matter if the amp can take 500 wrms in 2 ohm or in 4 ohm ?
my vibe slick makes a farting noise when the bass beats hit when turned up. the speaker on the other channel is ok though. the farting one isnt solidly mounted though. Its sitting but the plastic clips have partially broken. Will a slightly loose fit on my parcel shelf really cause this or would you say its being overpowered? Says 80wrms max. My amp is infinity 150w per channel.
Interesting, I have an older set of Orion XTR Series 2 12's (from the mid 90's old school) and they both measure 6.0 - 6.1 ohms on my multimeter yet they're rated @ 4ohms. Just to verify it wasn't my multimeter's fault I tested a Pioneer 12" sub and it measures 4.1ohms (4ohm rating).
i have 2 kicker L7 but one of the sub when i play them a noise comes from the inside of the subwoofers is that blow or is there something wrong with the coil?? its dual 2 ohm
hey first of all great tutorial but I wanted to ask you some questions if u can answer them :D I don't have a sub but I have a 450 Watts Pioneer Speaker so I was playing some songs (Loud) and suddenly one of the speakers stop working I tried to test it on the other channel but it didn't work … so I did what you ur doing and it doesn't have any sound when pressing on it and its not frozen or anything but I don't know this device of yours so what do your think is the problem
Hey, i just bought a sub and im doing exactly what u told me to do(push down on the sub, and sees if it doesent stick) and i did it, but at the very end where it cant be pushed no further, i can hear it scratching. 800W its registered at and i got it on a 600W kenwood amp. it feels nice and strong, pumps strong, but im wondering now if its blowen or not now..
Hey I got 2 kicker compR subs in a custom ported box there dual 4ohm I've had them maybe 3 weeks one of them when I push it in has a little scratchy sound but it's only when I push it in in a certain spot is it . But it still hits really hard and it not stiff or anything is it blown?
hello my sub is stuck(wont move up and down) but when i put a multimeter on it its a steady 3.2 ohms dosent move at all could you please help me thanks
What does it mean when your subwoofers are WAY quieter than normal at a certain volume than usual. tonight they were playing perfect then all of a sudden they were way quieter. i have L7s and they are dual 2 ohm voice coil.
hey, i have a question, i have 2 RE se subs, and the voice coils get hot., and the cone gets hot, but i tested them and they read a steady 1.8 ohm, and its a dual 2 ohm sub, is it bad? or should i not worry about it?
@Sandfire77 your amp is over heating, when it over heats it shuts off to cool down, 300 watts is not enough to puch kicker comp 12 no matter how many watts it says "and even though the amp may say 300W it might nit be a true 300. i have Rockford Fosgate 850 w amp pushing 2 kicker comps and it over heats alot
@grodenbarg so i need to disconnect the sub from the amp? sorry but my friend helped me with all the technical stuff with the installation. im not too savvy on this kind of thing
Hi,i have ground zero gztw 30t sub,m using it on jbl gto 1004 amp, whenver m playing the heavy bass songs...the sounds comes like phat phat phat.. i had checkd the crackin, scraching noise it wont came when i push the cone in middle but comes when pressed on another side then i had checkd impendence of these subwoofer it showing "4.4" stable,no flacuation at all.. what that means is this subwoofer is blown??
Hey my subs have decreased in power since i first installed them. At first they hit really hard but now im finding that i have to turn up the subwoofers louder and louder to get the same result out of them. Also, when I increase my speed in my car, the subwoofers tend to get quieter. This starts to happen at speed in excess of 25mph. I think its a problem with my deck. It is stock. I drive a subaru legacy 2004 sedan. I have two 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch P1's in a sealed enclosure.
i have a question, when i turn off my car the light on the amp stays on and it messed up 2 batteries already. what is wrong with the wireing? cause if you disconect the remote it should turn the light off, but it stays on. what advise can you give me?
ithe negative and positive wire got attach and there is no sounds now my subwoofer. can some one please advise if i need to chahages it or repair it? im on budget now ?
Hey I was driving on the freeway yesterday and my sub was bumpin.... then around likr7 I tryed playin it and it stoped working my amp is a sony 45wx2 and my sub is a sony xplod but I can't tell why its not working ... can you help?
hey man i have 2 12's legacy lw12590 2000 watts max and 1000rms and i wonder what would be a good amp to use them ..at how many watts....what brand...and how many amplifiers please...thanks...
they are 600 rms, and the hifonics amp, at 2 ohms is getting about 900 watss rms, and the bass is all the way and negative 8! there wired together at 2 ohms, so i dont see any problems, you know what imean? but thanks for the reply, and ill check it out, i am already subscribed too :)
extra step, if your sub isn't producing sound and is still wired in powered on .just gently press in on the cone. if it responds momentarily scratchy . Your voice coil has slipped off the former. these in most cases can be repaired. and this is a sign of over powering and over heating. or it's just blown.seen allot but rarely mentioned.
Hello, where can i buy the Custom Trim Finishing Surround Subwoofer 10 of them? I can't find them anywhere online, and I need them for Pioneer 10" subwoofers,Thank you all for all the information
I have a kicker L7 12 in. rated at 750 rms and have a kicker zx750.1 amp powering it. i usually play my music with the bass control know on full bass and play it loud but not so loud that my sub distorts. yet when i play certain songs on a low volume (2 or 3 when i usually play at 16), i hear a buzzing noise coming from the sub. I think it's just bc the bass isn't loud at that volume but im worried that something might be wrong with my sub. ive only had it for 6 months. any advice? thanks
I need help! i got 2 15" kicker comp cvr's and each is 1ohm 500watt rms and 1000max each, and i have them wired at 1 ohm each and i was driving down the road and they both stoped working, i pulled over and i turned it all back on then they were both working again, and then one made a weird noise. then they worked, and now they stoped again and now they arnt coming on at all but the amp is.. please help!!!!
Im thinking something went wrong with my wiring then or unless my turn knob is bad cause my 12s arent kicking anymore but they also aren't blown either given what this guy stated.
Also I have been considering ditching the P1's and getting a pair of 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch P3's. Should I just pawn the P1's and go with the P3's? Send me a message in my inbox. Thank you.
i havae a question, i have 2 pyle audio red label subwoofers 4 ohm dvc n im wondering if its ok to play them with one voice coil broke, i thinks its one of the negative voice coil
Funny how I have the same exact speakers as you and Im wondering if they are blown they are old ones been slamming for a while got tired of the 1 ohnm 2k watts when they are rated for 500
often times its just a worn out or shifted spider causing an issue, first of all don't deal with subwoofers that have a full diameter dust cap, this design is just to keep the buyers from removing the dust cap and getting into the pole area for re gapping the voice coil
@kickerl7dakota It may be very likely harmless outside noise from line in of radio. try to see if you still hear it after disconnecting the inputs from the amp.
Can I use the same ohm meter trick to test a 4 channel Soundstream tx4 560watt amp. And PoweBass 3 way passive crossover 2xl-60.3c which can be used as a bi amp.
My subwoofer moves easily when you push on it but it makes a screeching noise almost like something is rubbing . Is there a way to fix it or is it dead ? When I put a little pressure on the surround while it plays on the 1 side the screeching stops .
You just made me test my old inphase 1200 watt sub. Reads bang on 4 holms 🙂 pity I don't know anything about amps. Cos it's amp just blow its fuse straight away
im going to get two pioneer ts-w3002 they come in 2 or 4 and i was going to power them on a separate battery with two alpine 1000 watt rms monoblock amps the subs are dual two ohm and dual voice coil in a dual custom ported box tuned to 33 hz they need 1.2 ft of space for each
What would cause subs cutting out... Happens after about an hour of play "not too hard @50-75% volume. Amps not even warm, subs not over heating & connections seemed to be fine? Any ideas
so youre going to run an amp per sub? if that is the case, and your amps are one ohm stable, get the dual 2ohm subs and wire them down to one ohm. if the amps arent one ohm stable, you gotta get the dual 4 and wire them down to 2 ohms.
@kickerl7dakota i once had a whistling sound comming from a kicker cvr 12 that i had in a qlogic box. The box actually had a ver small leak in it that caused the noise. Also, it can also be engine noise from a bad ground. If u can, check where ur ground is and reposition it to see if it fixes it. If not see if u can hear any sounds comming directly from the box, cuz that means ur box has a small leak/hole.
What if the resistance is just high but stable? I have a kicker L7 dual 2 ohm coils and one is reading 24 while the other is reading 2.2 but both are stable.
Its blown one is way off resistance while the other is normal you "Can" still use it with one voice coil just not loud. TBH I haven't heard many good reviews on mid-low end kickers. But to each their own.
1:07 i thought he was gonna say "it's tight as fuck"
lmao me too

I've come across a few of this gentleman's video's today and have found him to be extremely insightful.
Wow this video is from 2009 and its 720p you don't see that everyday
Mouze Lol avatar was in 720p and 3D
worst comparison ever
BasicallyImHigh Avatar was a professional movie not a UA-cam video lol

"Do not test where there is air" What he meant to say was .. "It is best to test the speakers in the vacuum of space." :)
Where there is no sound.
sounds legit though... also never mentioned if you could test it under water. Just saying... lol
This is one of the first videos ive seen where its to the point. No b.s about other things or a 3 minute intro on begging for likes or subscribes.
Yeah the internet used to be good
1:30 make sure the voltmeter is set to ohms btw
1:43
for this to work, make sure you are in an environment with no air...
hahaha
+R3MIX MODZ Go to moon to check weather the woofer is blown xD
no air that can disrupt the cone movement duh
R3MIX MODZ hi
R3MIX MODZ so go to space
That is for the case of an instalation in a space station or stuff.
"Make sure you arn't in an enviroment where there is air" 1:41 Sorry I just had to point that out.
I NOAH MANN you didn’t listen to everything he said
@@JacobEcret I know it was just so funny I hit pause before I continued.
He meant 'wind' when he said air; because any slight movement on the cone's surface will change the OHM reading
That's why I tested my speakers outside of the environment.
Yeah so basically test out in space
Excellent video. Clear, thorough, and to the point.
YOU can tell this guy is a bad ass, If you knew what was wrong and you were right he'd still tell you your wrong he's such a bad ass.
Had a good laugh at your comment lol
lol this comment is hilarious! he's a professional con artist.
Keenan Erby the guy sells audiovox... enough said.
if so many people want to ridicule the video....why would you even take the time to watch it when you know what its about.....
Well I have a blown 10 inch sub what should I do repair it or replace it and if I repair it how do I do so

a lot of sonys do that.
the coil in it could have fried? get it reconed?
Henry J Got It repaired From A Local Store As Sony Refused to Do So . Repaired for Just Rs.1000(approx 18$) in India

Dont buy Sony ;-)
@hockeyforlife23 you can buy it in every electronics shop. Ask for a "MultiTester", many times is cheaper to buy the multitester than the ohmnimeter.
I have a 2ohm L7 15inch q class and it started to smoke today. Still works and seems fine. Just a lot of smoke and no clue where it came from other than the coil. So if the smoke happened does it mean it’s ruined? Even tho it still seems like it works fine??
You will smell it too, you will know! Kinda cool tho something i didnt even know. Takes the guess work outta it, or if your buying used subs as well?

AznBassAngler probably just the wiring having bad connections. was the buzzing more like a loud speaker buzz ?
@eHow .. Wat if im pushing if buts wen i push down to hard it has a scratching sound.. but its not stiff at all & there moving perfectly.

so im buying a kicker 12 l5 single square but it don't come with a box dose the box matter or can i buy any box? please respond
hey i wanna ask, if my sub onli smell onli once, does tat mean it is blown or jus overheating?
Are the speaker good?
hey
first of all great tutorial but I wanted to ask you some questions if u can answer them :D

hey man can a blown subwoofer perform well? or that causes the amp to not hit as hard like before the sub was blown?

@sethakym how so? if he takes a DMM to the coils and it fluctuates (ie. reads infinite) that means the coil is blown.

okay how low would it be with a 1.6 ft cubic ft box for each sub? and would i here port noise if i make a 12 inch port?
also, i saw those subs can get as low as 20 Hz? i would tune it lower but thats just me haha. make sure you have enough port area in the box
@grodenbarg so i need to disconnect the sub from the amp? sorry but my friend helped me with all the technical stuff with the installation. im not too savvy on this kind of thing

hey man i have 2 12's legacy lw12590 2000 watts max and 1000rms and i wonder what would be a good amp to use them ..at how many watts....what brand...and how many amplifiers please...thanks...
Audiopipe 2000 class d is the way to go nun but pure rms power
rich richards is the most store manager like name in the world lmao
they are 600 rms, and the hifonics amp, at 2 ohms is getting about 900 watss rms, and the bass is all the way and negative 8! there wired together at 2 ohms, so i dont see any problems, you know what imean? but thanks for the reply, and ill check it out, i am already subscribed too :)
Hey mam Thanx fer the info on the fluctuation on the spider ... That's a nice little trick if your ever buyin a used sub .... Later
extra step, if your sub isn't producing sound and is still wired in powered on .just gently press in on the cone. if it responds momentarily scratchy .
I'm getting a noise that sounds like something is inside it bouncing around very rapidly. Should I upgrade?
If my subwoofer is reading 3.2 ohms should It still fire?
Im thinking something went wrong with my wiring then or unless my turn knob is bad cause my 12s arent kicking anymore but they also aren't blown either given what this guy stated.
Hello what if you only here the twister and the woofer does nothing? What can it mean?
how do you wire up the mtx 9500 4ohm
So what about the ones with thick rubber surround?
Also I have been considering ditching the P1's and getting a pair of 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch P3's. Should I just pawn the P1's and go with the P3's? Send me a message in my inbox. Thank you.
I couldn't hear anything because my subwoofer was being fixed while this video was going!

his voice wasnt thaaaaaat deep
You’re not suppose to hear voices through your subwoofer. If you do then your crossover is bad
Great information without a bunch of filler. This is easily one of the best produced UA-cam videos out there. 👍
best is pushing it
i havae a question, i have 2 pyle audio red label subwoofers 4 ohm dvc n im wondering if its ok to play them with one voice coil broke, i thinks its one of the negative voice coil
javier mendez yeah as long as you run it at the proper ohms and don't put to much power to it
Funny how I have the same exact speakers as you and Im wondering if they are blown they are old ones been slamming for a while got tired of the 1 ohnm 2k watts when they are rated for 500
my 12'' L5 dual 4 ohm voice coil sub reads 0.5 ohms and 1.4 ohms, what does that indicate?
Also on speaker subwoofer on a Bluetooth speaker?
often times its just a worn out or shifted spider causing an issue, first of all don't deal with subwoofers that have a full diameter dust cap, this design is just to keep the buyers from removing the dust cap and getting into the pole area for re gapping the voice coil
@kickerl7dakota It may be very likely harmless outside noise from line in of radio. try to see if you still hear it after disconnecting the inputs from the amp.
@MartinBarrera0 can your amp handle your subs impedance? your CVR might have too low impedance for your amp
Can I use the same ohm meter trick to test a 4 channel Soundstream tx4 560watt amp. And PoweBass 3 way passive crossover 2xl-60.3c which can be used as a bi amp.
***** Depends what kind of test would you'd want to perform on the amp.
My subwoofer moves easily when you push on it but it makes a screeching noise almost like something is rubbing . Is there a way to fix it or is it dead ?
When I put a little pressure on the surround while it plays on the 1 side the screeching stops .
My sub has the same problem the screeching noise . please let me know if u have found a solution

You just made me test my old inphase 1200 watt sub. Reads bang on 4 holms 🙂 pity I don't know anything about amps. Cos it's amp just blow its fuse straight away
my subs press in easy but take a sec to come out but it comes out nice and easy but a little slow, is that bad?
where can i buy that machine that tell u ur ohms?
my akia 15' blew up 2 days after i bought it at a party gig i had! $350 sub fml
you hooked the postive lead into the negative and negative into the positive when you hooked it up to DMM btw
im going to get two pioneer ts-w3002 they come in 2 or 4 and i was going to power them on a separate battery with two alpine 1000 watt rms monoblock amps the subs are dual two ohm and dual voice coil in a dual custom ported box tuned to 33 hz they need 1.2 ft of space for each
but will this work for a non car sound system subwoofer
What would cause subs cutting out... Happens after about an hour of play "not too hard @50-75% volume. Amps not even warm, subs not over heating & connections seemed to be fine? Any ideas
so youre going to run an amp per sub? if that is the case, and your amps are one ohm stable, get the dual 2ohm subs and wire them down to one ohm. if the amps arent one ohm stable, you gotta get the dual 4 and wire them down to 2 ohms.
boy that kid sure loves displaying his unpacking skills.
i had a 18" acendant audio.. i tried to push down on it.. it wouldnt budge.. and it was NEW!!!
@qaxwell you notice hes in a wheel chair.... hes not drugged up
@kickerl7dakota i once had a whistling sound comming from a kicker cvr 12 that i had in a qlogic box.
One of my subwoofers works but rattles the other one works perfect any suggestion on what it may be?
Cowboys Nation polarity on your sub my friend. Check your wires and make sure they are stabilized and soldered on correctly, hope this hopes !
Dam i gotta go look at some subs that I potentially might buy. So your telling me i have to go to space to check em 🤣😂jk good video
