@@StephenYuan Yeah it's basically just a text based game with some minor dice actions involved. But damn if it isn't compelling and engaging for what it is.
to be exact, since there has been a robot uprising that failed in the past, robot AI are banned, but big corporations still need cheap labor, so they use a grey area to get around: they hire people to cryo them for years and years, and use their brain pattern to control android bodies, while adding relevant knowledge and filtering useless memories, so the resulting worker count still technically as human, but also still technically count as property, and your droid self work like a slave for lower than minimum wage for all the time you are in cryo it's cheap labor for the company, and when your cryo is over and the droid scrapped, you still get a nice paycheck because of all the accumulated years of working but sometimes, accident happen, droids get lost, and they might want to live for themselves, that's who you are in the game and the game is called citizen sleeper because the real human you is still sleeping in cryopod somewhere in the galaxy all along
Don't the corporations end up paying more that way at the end? They pay for your cryo sleep, for your droid's work, and maintain the cryo facilities. I presume real humans would still demand more than all of this combined.
@@MadTurnip I mean it all depends on economies of scale. 100 yr cryo at 5% robot wage + lump sum for regular 30yrs of work that the human would do and you're 65% to the good. Hello, Jon! If you ever run into a T-Rex. Do not stand still. Run as fast as possible to a strong space with a small entrance. T-Rex likely had amazing eyesight. Something about seeing from 30 ft up. There's actually a really interesting paper about how good their eyes were.
Smart dinosaur man was working on the best assumption they had at the time. In event of dinosaur attack, it's rarely a good idea to trust scientific theories that are over 3 decades old and have been disproved.
Interesting. Although running from predators is often a terrible idea as it often triggers an instinctive attack. I don't know if a T-Rex would behave exactly the same, but I'd recommend caution first rather than sprinting at the first sign of a potentially dangerous apex predator.
@@tournesol99 I suppose the issue with T rex is that it's suspected that it was an ambush predator, meaning by the time it's moving, it's already decided to eat you. The only real advantage you have is that, due to their size, they probably (possibly) couldn't maintain a fast sprint for long, so running like a coward is probably the only hope you've got!
(just a small note, sorry - Sabine is non-binary. I thought the They's in the text might've indicated the name was randomly generated and could be male or female, but Google confirmed they're non-binary. Putting that aside-) This is definitely a game that could be interesting to see more of, but I don't think I'm invested enough to play it myself. I *do* like seeing games that have you rolling dice to determine what actions you can take, though - they tend to be interesting :-)
I completed this game when it came to Xbox Game Pass last year and it was definitely in my top ten, certainly one of the best indies to come out recently. I went through and got all the achievements and I loved all the different endings.
I can't get over how incredible the soundtrack for this game is. The whole game is great, but the soundtrack is what stood out the most to me. Suits the style and atmosphere of the title perfectly.
So many games on this channel end up in humble type bundles so I try to wait but this is one of them I'd be happy to just buy and give away the spare code in the future.
Oh hey! I was looking to see if you'd made a video about this before buying it on the Winter Sale. Pulled the trigger anyway but I'm excited to get a preview before I start!
It hurt my soul to see you call a machinist an engineer, Jon. We're nothing like those desk jockeys, we actually make engineer dreams come to life. (To any mechanical engineers in the comments, I'm kidding of course, I actually like all of our MEs at work lol)

CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS LIVESTREAM! Jon's right I just watched and already this seems so addicting, and also it reminds me of the "Elder Sign" tabletop dice game for all you board gamers out there
This was my favorite game of 2022. Please do a full series on this game it's amazing
Please make this game a series! I really want to watch you play it some more!!!

The prose is good too.

Awesome to see you play this, Citizen Sleeper is one of the very best games to come out in 2022. Very excited for the last bit of DLC to come out.

Thanks for showing us this game! I immediately bought it and I'm loving the whole vibe of it. It's like a game version of a retro future soundtrack.

This looks like I could not realize how long I've been playing it for.
Yep, it's one of those "one more cycle" games :'D

As someone who bought it 2 days ago after watching this video, can confirm it's one of those "shit it's been 4 hours" kind of games.

Oh no, another game that Jon has completely sold me on. Time to spend some money! 🤣
I would love to see Jon giving this game alonger playthrough
John has now convinced me to get this game
Superb game, can't wait to watch.
Series! Series! Series! Series!
Jon: So this game is about rolling dice...

This feels like an interactive Heavy Metal comic.
I ended up getting the game right after watching Jon's video. It is so good!
