Fzj80 - 1994 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER RESTORATION
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 січ 2020
- My Journey restoring a beautiful Fzj80. I love the 80 series, because if I run into some trouble along the way on my overlanding trips, she will bail me out! I know she can take me to the edge of the world and back driving north on the Dempster Highway to the Arctic Ocean.
On this video I try to give you a detailed understanding of what sort of ingenuity and design work goes into restoring this great Land Cruiser!

Such a beautiful restoration..and your tastes are identical to mine. I showed it to my wife and said wanna see my dream rig😏👍 great work! I'm looking forward to seeing more of this vehicle out exploring
Nice looking rig. I have a turbo 1997 LX450, it's need of a cosmetic overhaul. I noticed you spent a lot of hours preparing and installing parts back on to the rig. This is just another motivational video for me to get it done.
Thanks John, Yes the 80 series are amazing! I am about 90% done restoring it. I am putting a lot of passion on it and have spent quite a bit, however I think is worth it! Good luck with your's and keep building it!
Fzj80 Lifestyle can a 91 have a turbo installed? If so what model turbo do you recommend?
I really like the color you chose 👍🏻
Love seeing Land cruiser restorations like this, they have more character than a Jeep😊
it is my dream to have a truck like the one in the video. better times will come
This is awesome. The color is great. Hope she takes you on some good adventures.
I swear I have seen this car before on the modified 80 series Landcruiser page before, nice car man.
Hi, yes I have it on ih8mud.com forum.ih8mud.com/threads/almost-done-restoring-my-fzj80-what-do-you-guys-girls-think.1135931/post-12827178
Thanks!
That’s the color I have been thinking of painting mine… Now I KNOW it will look good!
Such a fan of this. Been looking for one myself for awhile now. How much did you spend on yours before fixing it up
Amazing to see all your hard work summarized into a single video. Really shows how much work went into this restoration. Great work!
Very very very very very beautiful!!
Phenomenal! Great job!
This thing is clean!!! Nice job looks great
I'm in the work of restoring my lc80 with engine overhaul, new booster, new masters, new fuse boxes and restored engine wiring harness. Transmission and 4wd is all in good shape fitted with new seals all around. Drive shafts and diffs are still in the work. Long process but rewording once finished.
Go for it! These are amazing trucks!! Unfortunately I had to sell mine, however I will be rebuilding another one in the future.
felicitaciones desde Colombia muy buena restauracion,
Such a clean build. Thanks for making and sharing this video. Will take some of your ideas for my ‘96 LC.
I appreciate the attention to detail.
Later model headlights
Gorgeous build. Lots of time and money in that thing.
Good job mate! 🙌👌
Amazing Video, great machine
Awesome work mate ! Have one of these myself in Australia and im saving atm to continue its restoration. Enjoy the high life.
Beautiful 80
absolutely gorgeous.
Awesome resto on your FZJ80, rig looks amazing!!!
The 80 series are great rigs. I've kept my 40th Anniversary model. I like that grey color that you used.
It’s the original Toyota cement gray color.
Outstanding job 👍🏻
I have never seen one cleaner better than new. Wonder how much it cost to get all that done..$?
So cool! Very inspiring! Well done!
Excellent job!
Stunning beast
That color 😍🤪
Is the new Tacoma "Cement Gray" color.
@@ericktoss works even better on the LC than the taco
Super awesome!
Nicely done- put the time in effort to do it correctly. And I agree, this did not require a frame-off restoration for the purpose of this rig.
Nop, no frame restoration!
She's a beautifu!
Info on the paint job please, local to socal hopefully. Please let me know looking to color change my LC. Love the attention to detail on your paint job. Thanks
A local shop in Burbank, CA did the paint job, however they are no longer around.
Thanks for sharing your build. It inspired my 80 series build. Any chance you remember the color code that you used for your bumpers?
can you can give price breakdowns? curious to know what it would cost to get mines to that level
I was thinking the same thing, a price breakdown would be epic
Nice job...👍👍👍
Greetings from Madrid (Spain)
Thanks! are there Fzj80’s in Spain?
@@ericktoss Yes, there are...but there are many HDJ 80 (diésel).
I have one KDJ120.
Awesome Rig and a real nice job. Looks amazing on that color. But why didn’t you put some more offroad gear on it? A descent winch, a snorkel, steel bumps, rock sliders etc. Ok if you’re not planning to go offroad … but than why an 80 series? I had two of these bulletproof ones, HDJ and FZJ … less beautiful but with some useful gear on it. Now I have a 105 .. which is a real strong beast. But the look of the 80series is just the best … thanks anyway for your very nice video. Enjoyed it very much. Best greetings from the Swiss Alps🇨🇭
Wanna buy one for myself from japan, can't decide if go with diesel or petrol? Any suggestions?
The fzj80 is awesome in either diesel or gas!
The diesel would be better plus it has a turbo
Diesel for sure
I say, buy the gas one. There are more available and they are really good!!
❤ dammm it looks good
Did you do the dash. Looks like something I need to do on my LX470. Honestly I'd rather restore an 80 but I already have an LX that was in the family so. probably going to stick with it. Do you have more info about the build somewhere? Would love to see more about it 👍
I’m in the same situation but I’ll probably clean up the LX470 then sell it and buy an 80 series
We took the dash completely out and removed the covering with a heat gun, then my upholsterer recovered it with new material. I give info on the things I used throughout the video. Also at the end there is a list.
How much for the paint job? Amazing work and color choice! I was thinking about nardo grey, but your color is awesome!
The paint job back then was about $8k, however, o notice that it’s much more expensive now.
Looks sharp. I am curious how much you sunk into this restoration job.
I spent about $17k
Would buying a 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series FZJ80 for $6K with 165K be a good price? Of course it needs some fixing, I’m just really new to this
Absolutely
Yes, 6k is a really good price! You can build it little by little.
Nice... i love your VXR 80
Just some advise..
You should put some bumper front & back ARB with some winch
your tire need "extend" to outside, buy some tire adapter at least 3-5 cm.
But overall looks good...
Who rebuilt the transmission and where did you get parts for that ?
A local shop here in San Fernando Valley “Transtec Transmissions” rebuilt it. They found the parts.
where did you get the lights , front and rear
I mention the vendor on the video. I believe it was depo lights. There is also a list at the end of the video.
What’s your lift kit and tire sizes
Lift kit is 3” on the original wheels with 33”s
Found a 1993 LC with 86k miles. It was imported from Japan and from talking with the dealer and looking at photos, the suv seems to be in really great condition. He said there is no rust and everything is working perfect!? Should I pull the plug?? What are other things I should ask? (The vehicle is in Virginia and I am in tx. I don’t want to fly there to look at it)
Yes! Go for it. These are amazing trucks!!
Hola a cuántas pulgadas está levantada esa camioneta m
Hola, la levante 3 pulgadas y le puse llantas 33 pulgadas en los rines originales.
How much did it cost of vehicle and restoration
I bought it for about 4K and spent around 17k on the restoration.
@@ericktoss and what about durability is it work fine now this is old na
Unfortunately I had to sell it, however these are reliable cars. Never had issues in the two years I owned it. @@RakuVlogs88
@@ericktoss why and how much did u got
How much did you buy the truck for?
For about 4k
Fzj80 lc my dad had a hj61 right hand stick
I need more details on the seats?
Took the original seats covering out and we used German thick vinyl to re-upholster them.
Does it still smell like 80 series? 😁
Yes, it still does, and I love it!!
Let me have it.
Such a nice lc. How much did it cost u may I ask?
I spent about $17k on the restoration.
How much did it cost?
That is the biggest question. But look like he don't want to answer...
I spent about $17k
How much did you spend in the restoration? (Best estimate)
Hi I spent around 19k
I went this car so how much
Sold it a while back! I wish I wouldn’t have sold it.
what paint color?
It’s the original Toyota cement gray.
What size rims and tires are you running?
They are the original 16x10 alloy weels powder coated semi gloss black with 35's. Nitto Trail Grapplers. (315/75/R16)
@@ericktoss great restoration, did you think it can be ok using those tires without lift it up?
I am running the original rims on 33” tires. I have a list at the end of the video with info.
For sale?
Unfortunately I had ti sell it a while back. I wish I could had kept it.
I want
Assuming this is a music video...
