    Nice video. My Detroit is in 97 Freightliner century class. I’m losing coolant. No leaks but I notice my blow by hose is smoking like crazy!!! Oil stick has sweat beads on top of stick. Oil still black. Resovoir is dark colored. Adding coolant or water every day. Temp running over 200 even when I turn fan on and leave it on takes a while before temp goes down. Please help/owner operator!!!! Thx.

      Oil cooler, or if you remove the oil pan you can pressurize the cooling system and see if there are any leaks from around the liners.

    Quick question. I’m not experiencing any overheating on my dd15 but what I noticed when my engine is hot and I reach the bottom house the one that right under the coolant radiator so the house is cold . I would assume that it’s a thermostat but it was completely replaced 15 thousand miles from now . What that could be ? Is there any chances that those two little thermostats are not opening ?

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  11 місяців тому

      Sorry for the late reply. But the DD engine only has 1 thermostat.
      If the hose is cool or cooler on one side, then most likely it is working correctly

    What damage can cause to the engine if the thermostat get stock closed and water won’t circulate true ? thanks

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  11 місяців тому

      The engine can over heat if the thermostat does not open and is in the closed position
      Same is true if the thermostat stay open and won’t open and close because the coolant that is normally in the radiator will not cool off and is constantly circulating. This is definitely a problem in the summer.

      Mateo Perez this is probably one of the most difficult things to fix in the Cascadia. Could be the MCM (engine computer) could be as simple as a software update or a pin or plug on one of the connections. Does the fan always stay on from when you first start the truck? Or does it engage once it’s hot and then stay on all the time?

    What's the normal operating temperature for that engine supposed to be? 2015 cascadia dd15 mine is right below 200 at maybe 180 190. Is that normal or is it supposed to be lower.

      180-190 Sounds about right, depending on outside temperatures. It would be warmer in the summer time

    Hi Pedro,, please advise what could be the reason for water Guage suddenly goes up to red fire mark and drops to normal in next second..on dd6

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  3 роки тому +1

      The thermostat will open at approximately 220-223 which is just above the RED on your gauge. When it opens, the temp will drop because the thermostat opens and the coolant inside the radiator will go to the motor and cool it off.
      Completely normal but it does make people nervous.
      You can try replacing your 2 coolant temp sensors and thermostat if you feel it is not working correctly. Also, use 50/50 antifreeze.

    • @CarlosDieselElectric

      Start with the thermostat, the DD15 temp will go up to 220 before the thermostat opens and the temperature drops once the coolant circulates.

      You can have the dealer install a manual switch but it may require programming to the CPC. Pretty easy to do if you have or know someone who has the software to make those changes.
      The DDDL software needs to be the professional version not the standard.

    How often should I switch the coolant in the dd15? Is it necessary to do a flush with a special product each time we replace the coolant?

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  5 років тому +1

      usdpaulp I think the factory recommends every 100K miles. I don’t think you need to flush the cooling system unless there is contamination like fuel, oil or if the customer only used water. Otherwise just drain, replace the coolant filter and add new coolant. I usually use the 50/50 mixture.

    • @CarlosDieselElectric

      You can manually try to engage the fan solenoid. Usually fan clutch will engage when the temp reaches 220-225. I know that is high but that is pretty normal for DD15.
