Pretty neat to get one on your grandpas lure, not to mention a big one! That girl wasn’t missing any meals!

Funny how muskie guys overlook spinner baits. And bass guys overlook inline spinners.

What would you recommend for a heavy pulling bait reel (double 10 bucktails etc.)? Right now I’m looking at the Diawa lexa TW 400P-P, lexa HD 400PWR-P, the Okuma Komodo SS KDS-436P, shimano tranx 500, and the Diawa Prorex 400P-P. I would prefer a solid line pickup (in terms of spool size), but it’s not 100% needed, and a gear ratio of 5.3:1 5.1:1 4.3:1 or 4.1:1

First of all if you are looking for a setup for bucktails I would suggest a 7:1:1 gear ratio or higher. This will help you retrieve the bait faster and reel up the slack line with pull baits. As for which option you choose, you can't go wrong with the tranx. However, some users have complained about the drag loosening over time. I personally use the Komodoo SS 463 and its amazing. The free moving levelwind on casts results in some explosive distance that I haven't seen on other reels. The Lexa's are hit or miss but I have heard some good things about the prorex. For bucktails I like a medium heavy rod 8'6 or longer. For rubber a heavy or Xtra heavy is key to pop the bait and complete wide figure 8s. Can't go wrong with chaos tackle or st Croix rods

@@sgangling I am also a lover of the Tranx, I have three of the 400s, but the only reason I was looking for a low gear ratio reel, was because I want to take some of the work out of my retrieve. Otherwise love burning bucktails. Thanks for the feedback, I love watching your videos, keep doing what you do!

@@deers9644 Thank you! If I'm looking to slow my retrieve I'll move down to a 5:3:1 but I wouldn't go much lower than that. Stripping line off your reel also serves a similar purpose in reducing your inches per turn.
