You have great content and have always been very honest. I also like that you don't buy into the hype and trends when it comes to makeup!
Lol yes I say that all the time about Morphe. Really u went from being a Mac and YSL gurl to 100% Morphe overnight? No freakin way! Not even compareable! Why do people believe them?

A few of the things that you mention is what I miss about the "old" youtube. Is not that you have to purchase anything because somebody says so, but after watching a few reviews/ experiences you would get a good idea about what the product is about. Nowadays you have to navigate through a ton of fake/biased videos to get to the ones that might really help you. Great Tag!
It's been 10+ years I and my daughter have been watching her. And since the theme is
honesty: she is the only one from the old days that I still watch..The
reason? I don't wear makeup, so when I say I watch her because she's honest,
intelligent and has great insights on life, that says a lot, I think.

Re: Sigma brushes...thank you!!! I bought a Sigma blending brush and it felt so scratchy and rough, but after hearing so many glowing things about this particular brush, I actually thought it must be my imagination! Now I know it's not me.

I cannot agree more on the skin filters and dishonesty. I have unsubbed to so many big UA-camrs, because it's no longer about giving people guidance, it's just about making money and trying to achieve some sort of status. I would rather support smaller channels and people who are humble and truthful. Great video babe! 💋

The skin filters is my biggest hate! I think Tati and Nikkie tutorials for sure. I think I have been subscribed since 2009 and this video is exactly why I'm still here 💁🏻♀️
I quit watching Tati the day she did a collaboration with J Starr. I hit that unsubscribe button and never looked back.
My favourite thing about this tag is seeing people who you *know* are not disclosing and doing shitty practices answeing these questions all like "aw, I would never do that!!! I love you guys!!"
Do people honestly think not truthful youtubers are going to just say all the shitty stuff they are doing because of a tag video?
I have been using this site since it launched. You *know* who is truthful and who is not, you just do. Now everyone seems to want to now all the details that go behind the scenes but honestly...you just notice. If you want to know, you will. I'm glad you are still making content, you are the first youtube channel I ever subscribed ♥

Some people are introverts and quite withdrawn when you meet them privately, yet they have a big persona on stage. That might not be a contradiction, nor fake. They are both of those things. Being on stage can be quite freeing, once you get over the stage fright. It can be easier to put it all out there than when you can see people’s faces. Performing in a small group is very different from performing under bright lights.

I remember simpler times when the cosmetics industry was not so shady. It saddens me but I do have a handful of you tubers I faithfully follow and trust. I appreciate that those people, including you, are honest, mature, respectful, articulate, and do their research.

Hi Julia :) So, firstly you are indeed the first make up UA-camr I watched since 2008 when you were filming in a small place and reviewing the Coastal Scents pallettes (miss those days sometimes). Due to you I got obssesed with this brand and years later I purchased the 252 palette, the 88 metal one and the 88 shimmer one (actually around 2 years ago they produced the last series of 252 palette and I was really happy that I purchased it). Moreover, I need to thank you for being honest with your reviews as many times I thought I needed a certain product or got obssesed with it, however I didn't purchased it as in the end, I realized that it was something in my head and nothing more than that. I do remember that you had some redness reaction to an eye cream (not sure if it was Lancome or something similar) and you did told us about it which I really appreciated. I do feel that you need to speak up if something is wrong, no matter the industry and mostly within the cosmetics one. I also get annoyed of people who are soooooooooo huge fans of a brand and swear by it, many times. No matter what, I really love your videos, the fact that you're getting straight to the point and for this reason I never stopped following you and watching your videos. I will say just keep up the good work as always and keep doing what is best for you and not for the others. Hugs from Romania 😘

I completely agree with you on Jeffree Star. I don't think he's a very good person and it always bothered me when he would rant about someone, he'd bring up the fact that he has loads of money and that because he was wealthy that made him a better person. Just because you have tons and tons of money does not make you better. He's very elitist.

lol! Exactly on the Morphe train! I did a video on the Vegan Brush Set they have and sold through Ulta a while back and I said in my video, "I find these brushes not that special! They are just meh!" Even one tickled my face which I never get that from other brushes I have gotten from subscription boxes and Amazon. And I have used many eye shadows from other brands, heck I will be trying out BH Cosmetics soon since I got their new Opalescent pallet and a blush and highlight pallet from them since I have heard many of good things about them.
Have been following you for years and I don’t even use makeup. 😂 But I really like listening to you and watching your videos, your head is in the right place and you are not one of those bought and paid for youtubers and thank you for that!

That's why I like tutorials on new collections, products, etc. I'm going to make up mind that way or by swatches. Some things I love others may not like at all. Try-ons work best for me. No one ever talks about my favorite brush. lol My biggest pet peeve is someone who is applying makeup and has a hand held mirror covering the application!! grrr I enjoy your channel. Your lighting isn't too bright as well.
I have been a subscriber since 2008 and I really miss the old days. There are so many ( I hate this term) influencers who I just don't trust. I buy both high end and drug store brands but don't try and tell me that my ELF brushes are as good as my MAC. They work and I enjoy them but be honest. I stay with you because I trust you and enjoy the different content. Plus poodle people have to stick together. :)

So funny i was totally thinking Sigma as you talked about the other examples and I so remember how everyone was just raving about Sigma 10 years ago but they were one of the very first who got onto the whole influencer game and they did very well. All sigma brushes i ever bought have ended up in the rubbish sadly, they have all fallen apart, and I had a LOT :(

there were times i stopped watching your videos. Your content did not sit with me, but in last 2 years I am again watching your videos and I respect you and the work you do. There is integrity that lacks the digital influencer age, and dont even start on ethics or better yet, the lack of them.
Sigma, Morphe ect - there is space for such brands, but what content creators are doing with the collaborations is deeply untruthful and unethical. non disclosing ads, affiliations, comparing these brands with those that are much superior in quality and not to mention more ethical and involved with investing in research and development of new formulas.

This is hands down the best video I’ve seen on the crisis beauty UA-cam is currently in. You prove integrity, courage and show true class (turning down J⭐️’s invite ... that was badass. I have tremendous respect for people who rather stay true to themselves than go for a business opportunity like J⭐️. See, this is the difference between the OG who paved the way, you’re not selling your soul for clout, followers and dollars. You’re doing it because it’s your passion and you love it. Shoutout to Klairedelys who also kept it 💯 real throughout the years).

Very good video and I agree on so many points you made. Morphe is probably an okeyish brand for the price range but I really cant stand all the yters on their paycheck. In my opinion the worst is JC🤥. Followed by JH - but as she is very entertaining I overlook it. Keep up your content, I also thought you should really do a video about the filters sometimes its really annoying (almost wrote fillers - another topic). PS: In my dogclass we have now a black Standard Poodle 🐩

Your honesty is so valuable among all the sometimes overwhelming fakeness in social media. Incidentally, Kat von D recently posted a video on her channel saying she's not an anti-vaxxer but wouldn't say whether she's vaccinated her child. I hope she's finally come around, also for her son's sake.

Can you do a video of like...mid range/grade makeup for women in their 30s? I'm trying to get away from Elf but I go really light on makeup. Usually just eyebrows, eyeliner, and curl my lashes (sometimes mascara). I want quality but I dont like to spend a crazy amount.

Julia, I have been watching you since 2009 or 2010 and I feel like I have grown up with you in a sense. I have always really appreciated your honestly and integrity and this video just highlighted that. You have been such a source of inspiration for me on so many levels - I remember thinking it would be so cool to go abroad and that it was awesome that you did just that and built a life for yourself in another country. I am from the US and have been living in Germany for 3.5 years now! Finally I see someone not loving Jefree Star! I don't like him either i feel he is fake and has a undeserved popularity.. and i am glad that i am not the only one who doesnt likes Morphe brushes. I bought couple of and they are looking cheap and shade really badly. The black bristles ones are loosing the die when they are washed. I think Zoeva has very good brushes but nobody talk about them because they don't offer affiliates. I am just a small youtuber and I pay for everyting, I don't get makeup sent in PR but I would rather buy what I want to review then to get sent products and come uo with fake reviews.
