Despite the fact that The five of us are dying is a previously scrapped version of the black parade, I feel like it's MCR saying goodbye to us, the lyrics worth with it aswell, especially the line: "The times we had were really not so bad" It's like MCR all grown up and past their emo phase, reminiscing on old times and realizing that those depressing times weren't all that bad, I find it a warm sentiment to leave us with. Maybe that's why the released this specific version, who knows.

It’s likely that nobody will ever see this, and I’m okay with that. But I just wanted to put my two cents out there and say that this band has also saved my life, like so many others. I was in such a dark place- and I found them when I was 18, a little after the band had died (wish I’d found them sooner.) but these songs helped me feel hope and feel validated and loved. They made me feel less alone. And most importantly, they kept me alive. Im so glad that they were there for me to help me not end my life. Im listening to this song, looking at my beautiful baby. Im finally with someone that loves me, and my life is happy, and I never thought it would be. Thank you for helping me to “walk this world alone” until my life got brighter. Long live the killjoys 🖤

I think there's a good reason why MCR disbanded. Because if they still continue, they might end up what's currently happening right now to Fall Out Boy. Sure, they still has the fame, but when it comes to music, the songs and the instruments that they are playing were continue starting to change, and more and more people were leaving the fanbase due to that. Maybe that's why MCR wanted to end their career because of this, because when their music changes on their last album, Danger Days: True lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, fans were starting to clamor why they sounded like they are now embracing electronic musics and stuffs like that, and some say that why they sounded like this is not the MCR that they knew before. And maybe that's the reason why they prevent this so that they could stay loyal to their fanbase.
Anyways, kudos to MCR though, they had a one tough ride, they still never forget where and how they've been through over the past decade. And trust me, they will come back, they just need some time-off and one day, they'll come back wearing their traditional eyeliners and black leather jackets.
They released an album after Danger Days that sounded a lot more like the earlier ages of MCR unfortunately the band split up right after the release and it didn't become popular. But I completely agree with the rest.
Conventional Weapons, you mean? That's actually a bunch of outtakes from the Danger Days recording sessions, so your observation that it sounds like it was created in the interim between Black Parade and DD makes sense.
Also, I agree with the OP to an extent, but is it really that much of a problem? People change, and for that reason so do bands. Their music evolves to reflect that. While I do understand why some prefer Parade (or even Three Cheers for that matter), I don't think expecting any artist to keep making the same songs over and over again is reasonable. I like the old MCR and FOB, but that doesn't mean I hated Danger Days or that I dislike FOB's new stuff.

I listen to MCR and I never really cried to their songs. I normally just rocked out to them. But this is the first one that actually made me tear up a bit on the train.
I like the piano bits at the beginning and end. Very moving
