I agree most all the people don’t watch the other videos we have with smaller bikes. Most of the time we ride the bigger bikes for camping trips. Some people are hard to please. We get it. Thanks for your comment means the world to us.
@@marksearsjr Yeah, and there will always be troll's :-P It takes hell of alot more skills to handle a big bike in small bike terrain than vice versa! Keep posting stuff like this.

Great video! Hard to find real world, real guys riding at my skill level in places I'd like to go. Things are always way harder in real life than most people think. This helped me a lot in terms of what the GS can and can't do so thank you! Man I'm envious ..to be out with your buds having fun and getting after it! NICE.
The good thing with GSAs is when you drop em’ they only go down so far, easier to pick up, my Africa twin lays down flat as a pancake and picking up 534lbs is exhausting! Looked like a great ride!
Timothy Plympton yeah I can agree to that if the gsa didn’t lay like that it probably would have been traded in lol. It’s stupid heavy but makes up for it for what it’s really designed for. This day was just a challenge day we did. Normally we just do service roads and camp with this bikes.
Same thing with my Super Tenere...nearly impossible to pick up from flat....I'm jealous watching how "relatively easy" it is to pick up those GS 1200's !!
240fxst it was a lot of fun but challenging. I wouldn’t do it with out some friends though. I think I went down at least 15 times during the ride. Hope next year I can do a little better. I’m swapping my suspension in the next few weeks for tractive so we should see if the bike can handle a little better.
Great video ! It’s hard to take the GS/GSA into those trais with a lot of mud and holes, but you made it . Yes we all know the old story about “it’s too big, it’s too heavy, it’s too expensive, bla bla bla “, but there’s only one thing that matters : having fun, and I bet you had one hell of a nice day in the woods !
Such a classical BMW thing - 1st gear is too long and that’s why without the skills you either go (too) fast or use the clutch and compromise the control. I owned GSA 800 and the biggest flaw for off-road is gear length so for the city or dirt it just does not fit.
Love it! It’s just like my snowmobile buddies and I, just out having fun exploring and getting stuck. Glad you all don’t get frustrated when someone gets bucked off and gotta lend a hand.
My GS with street tires is just too pretty to take off road. But it is a great sport touring machine. Gotta love the Beast. It was great seeing you guys mud wrestling with the Big Fat Bavarian !
Ugh - I have ridden trails like that on a big GS Adventure. It is sooo exhausting, but rewarding at the same time. This is not a negative comment toward the video, but you road to your limits, not the bikes limits. It’s amazing what punishment these bikes can take. With some practice and the right tire and suspension setup you guys can whip through that tough stuff soon enough. I hope there was a steak and a taste of whiskey shared with the boys after that ride. It looked awesome and a lot of fun. What state or area were you guys riding in. Thanks 💪👍
Now that's how u use a big adv bike! Good job, keep rolling 👍. Not trails I would ever venture to on these bikes without some mates to give a helping hand.
These bikes are made for off road ride thrus. So you can see whats on the other side of the hill and then back on the blacktop. In eastern Kentucky you can ride the Kentucky adventure trail or the Daniel boone back country byway and these bikes are perfect. Ride to Gatlinburg thru cades cove, thru Parsons trail to tail of the dragon is what these bikes are for
I've got a honda africa and they're heavier and higher so I really appreciated and related to your experiences. In fact it was quite nerve wracking to be honest. A thoroughly good watch guys
I’m kind of worried about taking my GS into stuff this rough. The thought of splitting the bike in half to replace the clutch worries me a bit. This sort of trail I’d take my KTM 350 instead. I could see how it would be pretty fun and challenging on a big bike too though.
Nice video.... I own a 1200 2009 and this video make me think about my clutch... sometimes when I'm in a tricky situation I'm try to use the clutch as two stroke motorcycle, and always I smell a bit of burn odour. Just because you guys have more experience even cause you ride in groups, with others bmw guys, do you known or think that is normal or have a problem with the clutch? In normal situation I never have a problem of slippery clutch h or problem of traction.. my bike has 90k km. Tanks for the replay
Motorcyclists, hitting the street is relaxing, for sure, in enduro, let's put the body to the effort... everything can't be relaxed, let's make a difference, physical training is a priority. We don't eat well, we drink beer and then we go out to the forest through the mud....thinking then go out

@@marksearsjr Hey dude, if you wanna test a limits take the bike alone without friends and go same way. Then you will agree the GS1200 is too heavy. But is good fun ! 🏍🏍🏍
I do like this bike (not it’s beak though) but I don’t think it’s suitable for the terrain I’d like to ride it in. Which is why I’m waiting for BMW to release the HP2 Enduro or a more capable R NINET G/S.
The bike is just a tool. I hate the weight of it. I would say if you plan to use it for traveling and camping it’s a great bike. If you want to explore trails and do some intense off-road find something under the 500 pounds. I paired this up with a drz400 and it’s great. I now use it more for my camping bike then anything. Handles the added weight great.
You guys should take some lessons how to ride GS in Enduro mode.. Most of your problems are due to riding too slow and sitting on the bikes instead of standing. Watch UA-cam videos "the weightless rider" and checkout BMW endouro trainings to improve your skills. You could have much more fun. And: knowing how to ride the GS Enduro saves a lot of force and effort for the driver. Looks like some of u are close to the limit of personal fitness... The trail is ok.. Those who commented like "thats no good idea to ride trails like these on a GS or GS Adv" proove their incompetence...
Learning how to go against instinct and give it more gas and ride fast is so difficult. I agree with you: with these big bikes you have to maintain speed, no other way. Stand up, keep speed, lean back. That will get you through 80% of your problems. But then again, going fast is how you crash fast, so that's probably why these guys are going slow.
Very nice video I want to ask i have a bmw gs 1200 07 model and I always drive it on tarmac only, do the bikes have problems after a ride like this or they keep working fine and if yes what nide fixed?
It all depends on the condition of your bike going in. All of us just clean the mud off and road the next day. The bikes are heavy but that just means it can take a beaten. I would just tell you not to go into that situation by yourself.
This is why my adventure bike is a 2018 Beta RR-S 390. The terrain that was stopping the BMWs wouldn’t even slow the Beta, KTM or Husky dual sports down. I carry 76 liters of gear and 4 gallons of fuel on my trips. The only place I envy those big BMWs is on the highways to get to these places. Other than that, sucks to be you🤔
I have a 1250 gsa and I love it, but they are shit off road on anything more than a gravel track. Get a 650 plodder you will have way more fun and actually get somewhere
I don't think this video is far from GS maximum performance. This is not recorded on a track where professional motorcycle drivers repeat a certain motion until the movie is perfect. The situation is unpredictable, even if someone crosses a puddle in front of you, you may not cross because he missed a stone in the mud by a couple of inches and you hit the stone. Here you cannot get the speed to cross the obstacle, because the section before the obstacle is also an obstacle. Video distorts the situation. What is easy to see on film is really difficult. Large and heavy motorcycles need momentum. Slow driving does not suit them.
I don't exactly know which one they have but wunderlich sells crash protection bars and plates for. The heads. I know there is also a protection plate directly from BMW for the 1200 and 1250 since me and my dad have them on the r1200rs and 1250 so there should be a few options
Does the GS stand for Gets Stuck or Giant Slug? They are as big as a Harley. I’d prefer to spend more time riding and less time crashing or pushing. A DR650 is about as big as you really need.
They're big heavy bikes with a lot of weight on that small front wheel. You definitely have to ride them differently to keep the front from washing out. All the naysayers are missing the point. Check out Awesome Players (youtube) for big bike fun, especially the early years and then look at anything from mwan650 (on youtube) where some guys ride 990s on everything from single track in British Columbia to hard core Baja trails. One of them even rode the TAT 2up on his 990. Here's a snip from the TCAT as we went through northern Quebec. ua-cam.com/video/KzB9txced-Q/v-deo.html
