I'm after doing that twice. In 2005 bought a 2001 first $1000, bought parts first $2500, road the bike until 2014 with 100000kms on it. In 2014 bought a damaged 2014 R1200GS for $4000, put $2500 into it, just sold it for $12000 after putting 90000kms on it. Decided on a brand new 2022 GSA.... Nice work on the bike
I bought a BMW R 1150RT years ago from Copart. 300 pound uk to fix. Basically bike for half retail price. It was flood damaged. Stopped and tipped over into a big puddle. Insurance wrote it off. Hardly a scratch on it. what a bargain. Ran it for 10 years.
Very nice job done! Especially cause you reused the old repaired parts without just buy every stuff new.. I wish you always a enjoyable ride. Greetings from Germany ✌🏻
Wow you made what looked like a goner parts bike, shine again. increased the value by $10,000 or so. Can't believe you were able to save the crash bars, great job.
Great job. I love the additional fabric side pockets and the tool box. Are the crash bars going to be strong now they have been bent? I think BMW panniers would be nicer.
Thanks for the video, you’ve done an amazing job repairing this bike. I was surprised that the BMW engine protection bars (as big and complex a shape as they are) did not protect the rocker cover and internal parts of the cylinder head better. I perhaps would have looked at fitting top quality after market protection bars to prevent similar damage in the future. Great job though, greetings from Australia 😊👍
@@danemiljus5485 If you think this bike, that started the adventure bike class and is still the benchmark, is garbage, I would like to know what bike you think is not garbage. I know it’s not for everyone but it’s been a iconic motorcycle for over 40 years.

Loved the video, thanks. I'm not entirely sure I would want to ride the bike at highway speeds knowing both the stress points that mount the windshield had been superglued back together! also, was the bike crashed by the first owner on the first ride? It looks incredibly clean in all the nooks and crannies and the engine looked like it had run for an hour before the owner slid
Super job! Thoroughly enjoyed watching you skilfully bring back to life a goner bike. If it's not being too cheeky...how much did you spend overall, roughly, on the repair parts and equipment?
Excelente trabajo!! Por el valor de la moto yo le hubiese puesto nuevo la defensa de motor del lado izquierdo y no sólo pintar sobre el caño abollado. Buenas rutas!!
Respect your hard work. A few points though - the crash bars on these bikes help protect valve covers if you drop the bike. If bike is crashed at any speed the damage to the frame caused by the crash bars is possible and is very difficult to repair. - you apparenly spend thousands on expensive panniers but then fix windshield support with super glue? Riding a heavy bike in sneakers and jeans? Are you serious?
You Sir have SKILLS .....Great video I applaud the repair before replace if possible and a fantastic end result. I hope never to crash my 1250 because I don't have anything like your skill set or tool set.
Cheap work. Glued plastic that won´t stand vibrations. Did not replaced engine parts that should have been replaced. Did not performed a valve check clearance. Did not replaced the brakes fluid, nor the coolant neither, Didn´t even checked them... What about checking the cardan and replacing the oil. What about the engine air filter? Didn´t checked that neither. You managed to change the looks, good work on that, but sometimes there are much more important things to check. Those who said it was a great job, well...no further comments. Unless you only mind the looks, the rest I supose it's a pandora´s box.

Well done guys, great result without just replacing everything.Great to see stuff being repaired.
Replacing parts and repairing parts is not the same, No feat.
I almost cheered with you when it cranked. That's always a great feeling. I was inspired. Thanks for posting.
Super Glue on the rear turn signal bodies as a "fix" is wild lol
Best motorcycle ever made. Still drives mine after 10 years.
And I'm 63yo now.❤
Great job mate it is great to see stuff actually repaired and not thrown away and replaced 👍🏻 Enjoy it and keep the great job!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this amazing transformation. Well done!!!

Nice work and very nice video, very interesting. Very useful to learn how the boxer works, and how to fix the 1200. Congratulations.

That really is a complicated machine. No wonder they cost a lot to service or repair at a shop. Excellent work. Worth greasing the shaft splines too.

Well, the inside of an engine usually should look clean, on a bike with only a few tens of thousands kms.
