Leen Vandenhende - Alone with my Thoughts (baritone horn and baritone ensemble) - Spence arr Wheeler

Alone with my thoughts… is something we all experience during lockdown I guess. Some compare this situation with war… it's where this song is about, you can find the lyrics in the movie.
For myself being alone with my thoughts pushed me in a direction of not neglecting my instrument and learning new skills like making a youtube video.
I was lucky to hear the premiere of this piece (beautifully arranged by Brenden Wheeler) live at the Gala Concert of the 2014 European Brass Band Championships in Perth, performed by baritone star Katrina Marzella - my biggest role model and influence in baritone playing!

Never give up!
The Baritone Horn is not a very rewarding instrument. But if you get on and try to find your unique voice, it will pay off - in solo’s and ensemble.
Try to listen to the obvious examples (Katrina Marzella, Mike Cavanagh, Bob Blackburn, Margie Sutherland, Sarah Lenton, Ashley Dixon, Susan Elizabeth Thomas… Nick Vermeiren and David Thornton (euph players who happen to be good baritone players as well) and record your own playing.
This will help to become a star 🤩💪

Dag Jos, uiteraard!
Ik speel op de Sterling Virtuoso Baritone, met heavy red bell en heavy bottom cap op het derde ventiel en gouden afwerking aan de ventielen en fittings. Alle Sterling Virtuoso Instruments worden op bestelling ‘customized’ geproduceerd.

Hi, thanks for your message and well done on choosing the baritone! 👍
In brass and fanfare band the baritone parts are normally written in treble clef as well as solo pieces.
But I do read base clef and any transpositions if required f.e. from horn or trombone parts.
