@@panagiotisf7228 "All of this really comes down to your electricity source, which is fairly easy to find out if you don’t already know. Depending on where you live this can change drastically. Looking at data from the U.S. Department of Energy, in Massachusetts we’re 69% natural gas, 16% nuclear, 8% renewable (solar, hydro, wind), and 4% coal ... and a few other random things round it out. A gasoline car produces 11,435 pounds of CO2 equivalent each year vs. an EV in Massachusetts at 3,533 pounds of CO2 equivalent each year. If you take a step back and look at the national average, EVs step up slightly to 4,453 pounds of CO2 equivalent per year. Move to a state like Missouri, which is 80% coal, and EVs produce 8,135 pounds of CO2 equivalent per year. Still better than gasoline cars, but nothing close to what we’re seeing in states like California at 1,974 pounds of CO2 for an EV each year.12 Even a purely coal electricity driven EV will pollute less than an average conventional gasoline car over its lifespan.13 It’s the emissions saved from using the car day to day that pull EVs way ahead of gasoline cars, and as more states and countries move into cleaner electricity, those numbers will continue to improve over time. Norway is nearly 100% renewable energy right now. And some surveyshave shown that between 28-40% of EV owners have solar panels on their homes, like I do. And finally, the end of life of these cars. Lithium ion batteries can be recycled, which will keep hazardous materials from entering the waste system. Some car companies, like Renault with their Zoe EV in Europe, are taking degraded batteries and repurposing them into their whole home battery storage system.14 Tesla already has partners for recycling spent battery cells, but is planning to build out it’s internal recycling system to make all of the Gigafactories a closed loop system. It’s not only good for the environment, but it also makes financial sense because they can recoup a lot of valuable materials without having to dig for more.15 In the end, both gasoline and EVs put out just under one ton of CO2 during disposal." That means you spend more time charging for each drivable mile. That kills the 150kw charging. especially when it is compeating against cars that charge at a higher rate and get more miles per kwh. This is one of the major areas car reviewers need to learn to consider and they will in time.
True, The only thing that could be dangerous to the Model S is the Porsche Taycan. It seems like they put an emphasis on consistency of performance, which means that they want it to be able to do a whole lap around the nordschleife and multiple launches without losing power. Something the Teslas can't do. The rest of the bunch (Audi, Mercedes) put out cars that aren't really competitive to anything tesla makes.
About charging you are incorrect. The model 3 is now the fastest in production with charging at 250KW with v3. Also the model S has been updated to the same 150KW which is rolling out
Also doesn't matter how fast if the fast charging network infrastructure (and integration, reliability) isn't there to support it. That's a big advantage for Tesla, at least for now.
All good points. I'll add that empty to 80% charge time is a useless metric. What matters in the end is how much time you have to spend charging on long drives. Model 3 easily wins on this metric, since it's so efficient and since Superchargers are plentiful, allowing you to avoid filling the battery too much. Here's a Model 3 long range charging at a v2 Supercharger, adding 200 miles of range in less than half an hour: ua-cam.com/video/iE8kkfPlUv4/v-deo.html.
Before you buy an EV, try out www.abetterrouteplanner.com to see how practical it is for the routes you travel. LA to Vegas requires over an hour charging in E-tron, and you have to stay under 62 MPH for 3 hours: abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=df481524-7434-4d4e-ac46-e9a325f6b2f4. Tesla Model X LR takes only 12 minutes to charge: abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=d865ada5-6d6d-4b41-bb1c-484cdbd421c9. Even the Model X SR needs only 16 minutes to charge. Model 3 is even faster, taking 10 minutes. Conclusion: Doug is way off on the practically score.
Couple small corrections: - New Teslas (S, X and 3) now charge up to 250kW - New Model X has 4.6 0-60 on the base, 2.7 on high performance (don't understand how it is a larger and quicker car than the I-Pace, yet gets a lower number for acceleration) The Model X is 8k more, but you get quicker charging speeds, quicker acceleration, more cargo room, longer range, third-row option, Autopilot standard, better infotainment system, smart-air suspension standard, etc. 8K is 8K but I would choose the Model X any day.

@ewanok except you know nothing about me to make that assertion, and people have always touted specs when comparing cars. Infiniti used to brag about how flat and aerodynamic the undercarriage of their cars were. They also would brag about their drag coefficients. This is nothing new in the automotive world. It's just nonsense Tesla haters parrot to act like Tesla fans are doing something new. Fans of anything will compare specs. As long as there is competition, then we'll always break out a spec sheet. Except for me. I know my EVs very well, even being able to tell apart the electric and petrol versions of almost all these models. When an EV is parked at a parking lot, I immediately notice it and point it out, then proceed to walk up to it and take a look at it up close. If I saw an Audi E-Tron (even a Jaguar I-Pace or any Tesla), I would start to lose my shit (where I live, EVs are pretty rare, see like 2 per month). The rarity of a Tesla is somewhere between a BMW Z4 and a BMW i8 here.

@@Hirorir not true, it does until 80%. I looked at both charging curves at it is quite obvious. It is just a fact that in terms of charging the etron is the best ev at the moment. On other aspects model 3 is much better though.
@@0xdr0id29 Hm. Considering the battery capacity difference of about 20kWh to the Model 3, I can't say that the E-Tron is doing better. If Tesla decided to start packing their current gen 2170 batteries to the same capacity as the E-Tron, they would see a linear increase of 27% in charging rates, which is effectively the same as the E-Tron. If this were to be implemented on the MS/X it would be further improved due to the separate disconnected battery thermal management system. Aside from that, the E-Tron's range is piss poor for the battery capacity. If the charge rate applied the miles/kWh metric for the vehicle, you get about 163 miles in 30 minutes. All of Tesla's vehicles are well above that rate. You're better off getting a Kona Electric.
I much prefer Tesla's range, Supercharging stations, always up to date OTA updates, much faster acceleration and lack of maintenance. Audi is trying to sell regular maintenance contracts on these eTrons as if they had oil changes... The 204mi range is horrendous when it's packing a 90kwh battery.

Still better than gasoline cars, but nothing close to what we’re seeing in states like California at 1,974 pounds of CO2 for an EV each year.12 Even a purely coal electricity driven EV will pollute less than an average conventional gasoline car over its lifespan.13
It’s the emissions saved from using the car day to day that pull EVs way ahead of gasoline cars, and as more states and countries move into cleaner electricity, those numbers will continue to improve over time.
It’s not only good for the environment, but it also makes financial sense because they can recoup a lot of valuable materials without having to dig for more.15 In the end, both gasoline and EVs put out just under one ton of CO2 during disposal." @@tayvionstutzman2698 You can not even say that. As the charge speed is ruined by it's efficency. 84kwh battery (useable) for 203 miles.
Doug the type of guy to still have the Christmas tree in his living room.
Lmao who doesn't
I set up my Christmas tree in mid October and I live in Southern California, we have like no winter, or an autumn.
About charging you are incorrect. The model 3 is now the fastest in production with charging at 250KW with v3. Also the model S has been updated to the same 150KW which is rolling out
And even if a model 3 was charging at "only" 120 kW, it would still gain range faster because it's way more efficient than the E-tron
Peter Epste
Couple small corrections:
- New Teslas (S, X and 3) now charge up to 250kW
- New Model X has 4.6 0-60 on the base, 2.7 on high performance (don't understand how it is a larger and quicker car than the I-Pace, yet gets a lower number for acceleration)
The Model X is 8k more, but you get quicker charging speeds, quicker acceleration, more cargo room, longer range, third-row option, Autopilot standard, better infotainment system, smart-air suspension standard, etc. 8K is 8K but I would choose the Model X any day.
@SmartZ Gaming Lol, audi has 95kwh battery and goes 204 miles. Tesla has 100kwh and goes 325 miles... Talking about efficiency

Umm, coefficient of drag! That's why Teslas look the way they do. It's not just for attention, it's functional.
That's just not accurate - there are a number of sub-0.30cD vehicles that just aren't styled like Teslas at all.
The C6 Corvette was of course rather noteworthy when it came out in the mid-2000s for achieving a 'crazy' low drag coefficient - 0.287cD
Modern cars are significantly better though, even family sedans achieving much superior drag coefficients than even a performance-focused sports car like the C6 'vette...
The current Audi A6: looks like, quite literally, a 'normal' sedan - 0.26cD
The current Mazda3: also a 'normal' sedan - also 0.26cD
Mercedes B-class: a quite upright 'normal' hatchback - again 0.26
The current Hyundai Sonata hybrid: 'normal' sedan that doesn't even scream 'HYBRID!' in such form - 0.25cD
The Tesla Model S: looks like a Tesla, because why would you not want to make it obvious that it's NOT a 'normal' sedan(re: Apple commercial "what's a computer?") - 0.24cD
Heres one for you, the current M-B S-class, a notoriously huge car(granted, it's all in length) - a Tesla-matching 0.24cD
Even better, the gorgeous M-B CLA: it looks like a gorgeous CLA, but still a quite 'normal' 'coupe-sedan' - 0.22cD
No. High coefficient of drag automobiles DO NOT have to look like Toyota Priuses and Teslas - they absolutely CAN still look like "normal" cars, "normal" family sedans even.
@@RyTrapp0 you stated all cars, I'm only referencing the topic at hand. SUVs normally don't fair as well as cars. The Model X has a .24 drag coefficient. Do you watch other UA-camrs? @ewanok except you know nothing about me to make that assertion, and people have always touted specs when comparing cars. Infiniti used to brag about how flat and aerodynamic the undercarriage of their cars were. They also would brag about their drag coefficients. This is nothing new in the automotive world. I have the E-tron Edition One, picked it up on May 10th. Drove from Madison WI to Minneapolis, MN. Stopped in Eau Claire at an electrify America SuperCharger. Landed with 9% battery remaining, connected at 139 kW at 4:39 PM and at 5:21 PM received MYAUDI notification that charging was complete. Achieved 91% in 42 minutes!

Places index finger on temple.
James R there is a bug :)
Notifications suck...
You don't need to watch the whole video without skipping to unlock comments you know.
Everyone tries to do those really unfunny 'Doug the type of gut to ____' thinking lots of other original cunts will like it.
well if you're the type of guy to make a 'type of guy' comment then you don't need to watch the whole video.
You would walk right past this in a parking lot, never giving it a thought.
Mike Morris not a bad thing to some.
Yep. That's Audi. Understated.
Doug, I think you should take a look at new Superchargers by Tesla. They charge a LOOOOTTTT faster than 150kw
That's the supercharger, is the car rated for the same? 🤔
Supercharger used to mean excitement....
ғɪʟʟ 1ɴ ᴛ҉ ʜ3 ʙʟᴀɴᴋs newish Model 3’s are, I’m not sure if it’s all of them or when they started including that hardware.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks Model 3 gets 250kW, Model S/X get 200kW
And Porsche 350
0-60 mph is 5.5. :) in Sport mode. Love how you get excited about the opening of the charger port!
Doug: this car is incredibly fast 500 feet of torque
*Gives it a 4 out of 10 in acceleration* 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
xXMediaTrix Agree, his statement and score always not match 😴😴😴
It's based on a scale that goes from 1 point at 7 seconds or slower to 10 points at 3 seconds or faster. Every car since the beginning of the Doug Score has been judged by this scale.
Yea it’s stupid. A car that goes 0-60 in 7 seconds is a 1/10 in acceleration, but a car that goes 0-60 in 15 seconds is also a 1/10.
Also the E-Tron has the same acceleration as the Model X but the Model X gets a 6 and the Audi a 4
The Doug Score is as rational as the idea of sleeping with both Hillary and Merkel, at the same time.
Teslas can charge way faster than the e-tron can. Your numbers seem to be outdated.
Tesla's are ugly, lame, and the company has horrible financials. Goodbye Tesla
Please make a “Best Doug is the type of guy compilation video”. We all want it....
They should allow you to customize the hum... so you can sound like you're driving a Countach one moment, and a Mirage the next!
what about a spaceship at all times? ;)
I absolutely love the gauge cluster gps screen. Even if only for aesthetic purposes it would look great driving around. =)
The humming sound sounds like something’s wrong with the car.
That gear lever is overkill. Takes so much space for what is, in effect, a button
It also acts as an arm rest while writing or adjusting the HVAC.
Actually the Tesla Model 3 can charge up to 250kW 4:38
stef27_123 Upgraded through a software update lmao!
yea, but just for a short time in the beginning of the charge.
@@0xdr0id29 The E-Tron is unlikely capable of sustaining a 150kW charge rate either...
Agree!
All of Tesla's fleet got upgraded to 150kW on all of their existing supercharging network about 2 weeks ago. The newer ones do 250kW
Robert Olson Only the Model 3 can do 250 kW charge rates. The updated S & X will do 200 kW charge rates.
Only the model 3 will benefit from the 145kw v2 upgrade
Pre-refresh tesla model s and x can't charge as fast
@@TitanSKiZlz The model S and X have been upped as well in the last update
Tesla's charge at 150 kw now.
@The Legend of Texas U got no idea what car enthusiast means, u do know cars was first electric, then the first ICE vehicle ran on hydrogen, then 30 yrs later it came with petrol and diesel? Electric vehicles is more of a car than ICE petrol and diesel. Plus, electric cars RAPES ICE vehicles in performance and within 2 yrs also in range. Koenigsegg has even said themselves that the new roadster embarresses them and they will never get to make a car that is faster at that price point.-
The Legend of Texas car enthousiast appreciate modern technology, take a look at the specs of the model s. It’s insane so fast and not that expensive
@The Legend of Texas Lol, the battery breaks. Go drive a Model 3 and tell me that is is boring. The Tesla batteries are showing over 90% charge capacity after 150,000 miles. (I have 8 years, 120,000 mile warranty on the battery and electric motor)
The Legend of Texas idiot saying idiot things
The Legend of Texas yea, the battery is a problem, but they will solve this, hydrogen cars are the future.
204mi of range with a gigantic 95kWh battery seems pretty poor efficiency
I wonder what kind of motors they're using
yep 200 just isn't enough. in winter it comes down to like 130 and you're screwed.
Yeah model X before the refresh is 30% more efficient, after the recent improvements even more so.
Define "efficiency"?
