    Just purchased the Power mig 353 DPI for my garage/shop. I already own a 255 EXT. These are excellent machines and have the best customer service. And a 5 year no questions asked warranty.

    Pulse mig on Aluminum is capable of producing superb welds in all positions. This is the first ive seen pulse on steel and the stability of the arc and puddle almost look fictional

    Five moths I have welded pulse with Fronius. When you are 2-3 persons welding like this, the noise is really crazy. You can weld galvanized very easy with those settings, it is not burning like normal MIG.

    Hi Bob, I run A Lincoln Electric STT2 which is a pulse mig and it will do welds like that, good looking welds and hardly any spatter. Iv'e worked out parameters that work for me, and it is quite flexible on the types of welds it will do, from 1.5 mm thick expanded mesh tacks with 0.9mm wire, right up to 8mm fillet welds on 16mm thick Bissalloy plate with 1.2mm wire.

    I recently started working with pulse spray MIG on the Multimatic 255 I use at work, with 90/10 gas, and it is so much better than short circuit, in basically every way. Vertical uphill is trivial with this process.

    I run pulse on thick armor steel. I use 98%argon 2% CO2. A little slower than spray. But you do need better gloves. And youll burn the color out of your shirts with pulse

    I use a miller xms 4000 with 86%ar 12co2 and 2%O2. cant see past it for welding overhead, waay faster than short circuit. I played with the inductance rather than the trim value when learning to control the puddle fluidity overhead. Saying that i nearly always weld on plates coated in weldable primer so a longer arc seemed to help burn through it and reduce the red rain going down my back. Great video. Hope to keep learning from you guys

    All my jobs since school one was flux core 1/16 100% Co2 , then railroad company 1/16 spay which was nice except no overhead using 90-8 mix. Last was wheeling wheels 1/16 spray with a machine. Never done pulse mig.

    You should try out a kemppi puls machine. That's some awesome pulse machines!!! Used A FastMig 450 X for the last 3 years. Best machine I have ever used.

    I love spray fill up gaps and lay down some material. We ran 1/16 wire and 98 2 gas on thick rail road track parts.

      I found the depth of field a little distracting as the focus wasn't spot on. Go easy on the DOF camera guy... :) Bob for the win once again on the content though. Love it.

    I work for a company that uses this same process. Except for the root they use a thing called RMD. Basically short arc mig but it deposits alot of metal. I weld steam pipe with it. RMD root, pulse mig hot pass, and fluxcore fill amd cap. The gas we use for the hardwire mig (rmd and pulse) is 90/10. Runs great, burns in good. Maybe some time you could do a pipe weld with this same process. Short arc root, pulse mig hotpass, and fluxcore fill amd cap. Great job!

      Same machine. Miller fieldpro 350. And i think rmd stands for rapid metal deposit. Could be wrong. But it works great. Makes a 24” 2” wall thickness steam pipe take less than a day to do. As opposed to tig and stick where it would take a couple days.

    I miss pulse process. Single pass .750" fillets with 0.057 wire, Lincoln power wave 455 and 500.
    It was a production shop welding frames for farm tillage equipment. Rarely welded anything thinner than 3/8" , mostly .5 wall tube and 3/4 and 1" plate. All single pass.
    You can push a heck of a puddle at 400 amps.
    C10 gas.
    New gloves every other day lol.

      I’m trying to get into this. In regards to pulse mig welding 1” thick steel plate with .057” wire. Can you please tell me what your settings are? Voltage, amps, gas type, cfh, travel speed, nozzle size, and arc distance?

      @@just1fix119 I was using power wave 455 and 500's so only ever paid attention to wire speed. 300-375 ipm. Slower speeds on thinner materials. C10 gas, 15 to 25 cfh depending on shop temps. Arc distance is controlled by the machine. Just keep the buzzing on "pitch" . Strike an arc, build a puddle to desired lag width and push it along uniformly. Have plenty of heat shields and extra gloves (left if right handed, right if left) plenty of sunblock under your clothes and hood. Liquid cooled torch. It's hot, fast and clean. When done properly you will have a smooth, flat bead.

    In pulse welding aluminum the arc length settings confuse me no end.
    i understand by increasing the trim the arc length increases as there is an increase in voltage and by decreasing the trim the arc length shortens because the voltage decreases. My question is this: what do the numbers represent in terms of voltage change?
    For example what change is represented by minus 2 or by pluse 4 etc?
    There is also mentioned something about frequency changes when using these changes. What is this all about? looking forward to reading some answers to these questions.

    Hi Bob, I love the educational aspect of your videos. Something you said struck me as familiar. I have a THERMAL ARC 400 MST dc only. With it I got an ULTRAFEED VA2000. I used 75/25 argon co2 @ 15cfh on a clean 1/4" angle iron butt joint. I ran .035 er70s-6 @ 22 volts and 300 ipm. I recall describing the resulting weld almost exactly as you did the pulsed mig weld in this video. Fluid but yet it freezes quickly. Used a Tweco spray master 450 mig gun. My question is can I rely on mig for x ray quality welds on structural steel applications? Which shielding gas or gasses do you recommend to achieve this if so, or should I just stay with stick? Been welding 21years, always open to learn. Also, I regularly use 90/10 argon co2 at work. It seems able to do all 4 transfer modes. What's the difference between using it and using 75/25 for short circuit transfer? Also, how do you determine amperage yield given the wire size diameter, voltage, and wire feed speed? Is there a formula? We have older transformer type units at work. Thank you for your time.

    90/2/8 is awesome for pulse. 90/10 is awesome for spray and short circuit, 75/25 (IMO) belongs on a farm along with 6010’s and 6013 lmao. Just my opinion, not saying 75/25 gas or the rods suck because they’re awesome too but if I have the choice I will take the 90/10 or 90/8/2 any day of the week.

    Enjoyed the video, but I have a few questions. When you say -3.5, -4.0 etc what exactly is it minus from? I assume it's the voltage (?) but what is the setting? Last question. Why do you say MIG? Using oxygen or carbondioxide mix makes an active gas = MAG?

      It's just "customary" to say MIG even though it's really MAG. I suppose because the majority of the gas is Argon which is Inert. The negative numbers are a trim that reduce the voltage and thus the arc length. Different machines set it up differently, but they all have it (the pulsed spray machines). Lincoln use the number 1.00 to be the center point, these Everlast machines use 0 as the center point, and HTP machines also use 0.0 as the center point.

    Very interesting. A lot to absorb. Since the pulse mig freezes the pool quickly on the offbeat, would it be more able to do overhead and verticle? Glued to the channel to see more.

    Hi Bob how do you like the EverLast welders. Have you had any Problems with them before I bought my Lincoln Dule 180 and My Miller 215 I watch a lot of youtube videos on welders. I watch Videos for three months on all kinds of welders before I got my welders. The only reason I got Big Red and Big Blue Did not want to send welder out of the United States. I have been looking at other welders but before I get one just thought I would ask you do you like the EverLast Machines. you have a great channel I watch ever Monday and Friday. Even though I am not a professionals welder I learn one the job from co worker that were Professionals. Keep up the great job and the Camera Guy is doing great.

    Why is it that nowhere in this video or these comments does anyone mention what the settings are? And don’t say -3.5 volts. The volts must be around 20 or something and then minus from there or something. Please also explain that too. I am an electrician and there is no such thing as having any power with a so called negative voltage.Don’t mean to sound harsh, just dying to get to the simple facts of this. Thank you. And what was the gas cfh, nozzle size, and arc distance?

    So the synergic lines are out from the factory (necessitating your trim down of the voltage)? The European version of these machines also has bad synergic lines. It’s just one of those things with different wire and gas specs.

      The effectiveness and accurateness of the synergic settings will vary depending upon the gas. Bob is using a gas a bit out of the standard gas used for the setting. This unit is setup for 80/20 to 90/10 for close results. Everyone is going to use trim, according to how they weld. Lincoln and others face a similar challenge on their pulse MIGs. Gas is almost everything for accurateness of settings. And the balance is operator. FWIW There is no Euro model available from Everlast on this unit. This is an Everlast created model at the factory.

      Everlast Power Equipment yeah, I hear you guys. Lines are only as good as the wires and gas they are written for, and operator preference. I know that r-tech and the likes don't have a version of the double pulse machine, and sadly they don't seem keen on moving into that area. But they're other machines were way out with the aluminium lines...

    This is one of the few videos that does pulse mig justice. I'm about to get this machine Tuesday for my shed! Great content as always! Have you tried an open root with it downhill? I am really curious how it would compare to short arc on pipe and downhill roots. I would do it at work, but I weld structure and downhill isn't allowed.

      These are set synergically and follow factory programming parameters. While the machine can make manual settings, these are not what is being used here. Everything is pretty much automatic.

      Mr. greens boat tanks and aluminium welding what unit do you have? You might download our power i mig 275P which has manual adjustment and it gives you basics for getting started. But the rest is all about skill and knowledge of the operator.

    Bob I am looking for a Mig welder for thin sheet metal (auto body thickness) 22g and 20g steel. Butt weld, plug weld and lap joints are the processes I am doing. Blow throught, warping and popping are the main issues. My shop is already equiped with millermatic 350p, miller dynasty 210dx, miller multimatic 215, Millermatic 251 and an old Miller 180amp a/c stick machine. The machine does not need to work on thick materials (mm350p and mm251 got me covered). Or if it's mabe a set up thing I am missing. The mm350p is amazing on med to thick materials but not great on thin. The settings chart in the machine is not great for thin metal do to thinnest wire setting are for .035 wire. Any tips pointers or suggestions would be great. Great channel I have learned a lot from you and Mr Tig. I was looking at the htp pro pulse or a fronius welder. Thanks Steve

    Wire quality has a lot to do with it. Shop i work at switched wires and this stuff is cheap junk it can pulse in flat position thats it. A lot of work had to switch to a short arc to control the puddle. Nice mode for welding but i don't see the hype as a fab end all be all many shop managers are making it out to be.

    VERY little spatter. You can run this on high doller stainless stuff where they don't want a bunch of grind marks from nocking spatter off. Another thing, make sure to button up your shirt when running it all day, cuz it will burn you through a t shirt and bleach your shirt too

      Nope, Miller is assembled in USA, from Chinese sourced parts just like everyone else.
      Take a side panel off and look at the stickers on the boards, fans, coils, mosfets banks, they won't be written in English.

    pulse did not work with mini welders which most of have , certainly not work with fluxcore units , most of these videos not relate to us DIY welders , tell us how to weld with what we got not with what you got

    Can you do some videos on FluxCore Welding? I know its like Mig Welding but without the Gas, but I'd like to see how you FluxCore Weld and hear your recommendations. Thanks for the awesome videos.

      ARC 7157 Hi. You drag flux core as oppose to pushing with mig bare wire & the polarity is different too. Some flux core applications still use shielding gas though. Hope this helps
