There are several videos on how to remove the front license plate holder removal. You first remove the outer bracket by removing the three screws. Then either use a heat gun or plastic door trim removers to peel off the two adhesive bands. I think that a heat gun makes it messier to clean up the adhesives. I did it with just the plastic trim tools for my buddy’s Plaid and it was much easier.
Greetings from Japan. So would you recommend going to an older model and get use to the functionality of a Tesla? I took a model Y for a test drive last week. It was truly amazing seeing this technology at the control of my hands. The Plaid review was very informative with the Yoke. Fantastic video. Surprised you turn up the stereo sound volume to "above 8" because that is loud (even in my 2018 Model S)! Is yoke steering "easier" when city driving (like in Hong Kong?).

Very informative and useful video! Have you noticed any wear on the top left of the yoke? I see that you when you turn the yoke you mostly use your left hand like I do and was wondering how long before that section starts to peel? I've seen other UA-cam videos where portions of the top left AND right of the yoke starting to wear off. Now that Tesla offers a round steering wheel option you can steer with any part of the wheel mostly eliminating this issue. Would you ever consider changing over to the round wheel or will you keep the yoke? Thank you!
There may be a couple reasons why you’re stuck with 345 miles on a full charge versus the published number. The first I can think of is regenerative braking, so while your car may say it’s only going to go 345 miles, once you factor regenerative braking you’re possibly closer to 390. Second could be to protect the battery and keep those last 45 miles as an “uh oh” reserve since over depleting LiPo batteries can be damaging and even dangerous
Formula 1 car doesn't have a traditional wheel, but they also don't have a navigate a supermarket car park. You use the yoke well, but I personally feel it's a slight downgrade in usability and drivability. The touch controls on the yoke were certainly a poor idea as it's too easy to brush your hands up them. MKBHD has now driven 800 miles and confirms this. ID3/4 have the same issue, as reviews have pointed out. Turn signal indicator buttons should be on left and right of the steering wheel, for left and right turns, similar to how Ferrari does it. FSD or whatever that indicator is should not be on the yoke, to leave more room for most everyday buttons-i.e. it would give a larger area for each physical button.
Comparing a Formula 1 car and the steering wheel that's only used on a dedicated circuit vs a street car is downright laughable. Most factory cup cars have steering wheels. If Tesla wanted to be cool they should have given it a flat-bottom wheel. Not an inferior yoke.
I'm not a fan of the indicators on the steering wheel. What about when you are mid turn such as a roundabout and need to turn the signal to exit? The stalks of old don't move for that reason. And how about cancelling a turn signal mid turn? Sounds a lot like aesthetics over function here.
Great video, the best one I have seen. You have so much common sense. The only concern I have about switching from my current car (530i BMW) is the loss of apple carplay. Could you comment on the functionality of Tesla infotainment vs apple carplay?
Hey Shannon - based on your Yoke comments - sounds like you know something about cycling. Can you tell me if a road or MTB can fit in the rear hatch with the back seats folded own - without taking the front wheel off the bike? Tesla advertises this as a feature of the hatch cargo space - but just wanted to confirm...
Hey Shannon, how often or not often did you have to replace your tires on your previous Model S? Some say the massive weight of the car wears the treads much faster than an ICE car.
Most people buying teslas will never have this issue since most lease them or buy them for only 5 years tops; this guy had a P100D before this and that was a 2018 model, for example... if you want something to not break, buy a rugged dinosaur like the Land Cruiser; the people buying these have top notch insurance, a great warranty, and put low miles on em Also, while I can not confirm this for every case, it has been reported that the car comes to a stop with the hazards on when a component is not working properly or if the driver puts no input into the steering wheel after multiple warnings

My biggest concern with the model S plaid is the 21 inch arachnid wheels. With how thin the rubber is, any pot holes or road imperfections will damage the wheels. I think upgrading them to a smaller diameter with more tire would be a good move.
I had 22" wheels on my previous EV and 21" wheels on my previous Porsche...no damage whatsoever. Not sure how people just make assumptions like this? It all depends on the suspension, etc. The Tesla MS Plaid and MS LR have air suspension (like my previous EV and Porsche) so there shouldn't be any issues for most areas. Sooooo... essentially, with that yoke, you have to drive the car like a forklift. 😂 Yes, people can 'get used to it', but they shouldn't have to. The yoke is purely an aesthetic choice to appear 'futuristic', and offers zero benefits over a conventional steering wheel, but lots of downsides. Steering with the heel of the hand is cringeworthy and one of the least secure ways to steer, with the least amount of control. It can slip at any moment and off the road or into another car you go. Second, moving the turn signals from a stalk to capacitive buttons was a boneheaded idea. There are many times, such as when turning from a highway off-ramp to a local road or roundabout when you have to use your turn signal while the steering wheel is already turned. With a stalk, it doesn't matter what position the wheel is in, it's easy to signal left or right without looking. With this yoke, the buttons could be upside down or in some random location, so you have to take your eyes off the road and hunt for a flat capacitive button than is constantly on the move with the wheel. That's a terrible UI choice. What this really does, is just encourage you to not use your turn signals at all. Yay, safety! But an even bigger crime was moving the horn from the easy to hit (even by a blind person) center airbag area to a tiny, flat, capacitive button that requires a thumb contortion to even reach it, not to mention hit it in a panic/emergency situation when one's attention should be on the road, not hunting for it on the wheel. That was a purely idiotic design decision. I wouldn't care at all if Tesla offered this yoke as an option, allowing people to choose what makes sense for them. Instead, they offer the yoke abomination as the only option, essentially shoving it down people's throats whether they like it or not. Probably lots of potential sales lost because of it.
You say the same thing that every review says about the yoke: "you get used to it." No one says "it's better than the wheel. I love it." Elon dropped the ball by not offering it as an option. Terrible decision. I drove one multiple times that a friend of mine has. I got used to it all right. I got used to the fact of how much I hated it, and how I resented how expensive it was for such a crappy design. I'm not a formula one driver. My friend with the plaid said he now regrets his decision. He said he would trade the extra 1.1 seconds of acceleration for the wheel. But hey, he gets "used to it.". I say that everytime we ride in his car. 😄
What wrong with the Tesla yoke wheel it’s about 3.5 -4 inches too wide and the 1080 of rotation on the wheel is ridiculous most wheels like that are capped at 360 degree I use mine at 180 degrees but mine is adjustable and an exact copy of an F1 steering wheel, comparing bike handles isn’t the same as that stupid wheel, you know that you never actually own your Tesla ever even after it’s payed off
surprised that even though your wife has the model x, you don't have much knowledge of Tesla's. you have the 21" wheels so your range is lower, not the 390 miles.
The yoke is such a blunder. First off, no one should have to "get used to it". The wheel has been tried and true for a century. They did this to be different and it's ridiculous. And, you are using your palm to turn. That is super unsafe! They deduct points when you take a driving license test doing that.
Now your friend can get the retrofit round wheel directly installed from Tesla service for $700
What wrong with the Tesla yoke wheel it’s about 3.5 -4 inches too wide and the 1080 of rotation on the wheel is ridiculous most wheels like that are capped at 360 degree I use mine at 180 degrees but mine is adjustable and an exact copy of an F1 steering wheel, comparing bike handles isn’t the same as that stupid wheel, you know that you never actually own your Tesla ever even after it’s payed off
Americans are afraid of anything new tbh. So many people "hated" it without even driving the vehicle!
What is new about this? Lol
The yoke is a joke when you have the wheel tried and tested for a century and works perfectly.
@@vinlondon8904 same reason why the ol' manual transmissions and internal combustion engines are thriving right?
Yokes in passenger cars were tried in the 1950's. They weren't successful.
A tesla is basically an Iphone on wheels
surprised that even though your wife has the model x, you don't have much knowledge of Tesla's. you have the 21" wheels so your range is lower, not the 390 miles.
You are a rich man... $130,000+
yoke is so stupid is isane .
i do not know how it is legal ...
The yoke is such a blunder.
First off, no one should have to "get used to it". The wheel has been tried and true for a century. They did this to be different and it's ridiculous.
Your driving looked so awkward and I think defending tesla is just unjustifiable. Mindlessly supportive fanboy disposition.
@Flako So you have not seen the most viewed YT video by one of the most famous tech critics? ua-cam.com/video/DyKQ7qtTJag/v-deo.html
The Yoke is a joke.
@@Patriotsounds yeah and he specifically said it did not bother him personally that much; he said I can imagine non-tesla fans being annoyed by this but he was not that bothered
It's called a fixed narrative
you: an armchair enthusiast observing others drive with a yoke
him: an owner of 2 weeks
so why should we listen to you exactly???
@@underscorechaz dude idgaf. Buy it. I think the shit is straight retarded. A yoke is either for racing or a plane. But if you want a yoke for normal driving, go for it.
@@Patriotsounds agree to disagree
I can help you get 400 miles holler!!!
The way over priced..that stupid half steering wheel.rather own a great hemi v8..
bad
The driving looked so awkward as fck. If its not broke dont fix it. Why try and reinvent the wheel
