You saved my day. I was about to throw this thing in the garbage can. This command "Alexa disable guard mode" should be in the manual. You're the only one here who mentioned it. Congratulations!
Thanks you saved me. Mine had a spinning ring with cyan, it was doing that for hours. I unplug the power and replug it after 20-30 seconds, which didn't solve my issue. The factory reset work like a charm.
You really earned my Subscription with this video. I've had 3 of my 5 Alexas in Guard mode was starting to think there was no recovery from this glitch but it turned out to be a user error. I can't seem to stop myself from trying new commands. Your suggestion to use "disable guard mode" did the trick and the circling cyan light is finally off. Thanks loads!
TYVM! Worked a treat. This techy stuffs pretty straightforward when you know how. Glad people like you are around to help us not so techie folks out- thanks again :)
I had to reset mine and is working fine now but that cyan blue cycling light came out of nowhere with no warning other than disconnecting and reconnecting to Bluetooth on its own.
Here's the thing... my Alexa's stuck on a half cyan half blue rotating light. it has been like this for nearly 48 hours. I have tried unplugging it and re-plugging it in again, pressing the buttons in various orders, (all the buttons work except the one that lets you manually get its attention) and I have even just flat out tried saying Alexa multiple times at different volumes. Other notice: It doesn't show time like it's supposed to either. Edit: I fixed it, but I should not have done what I did at 11:30 at night. now I have to wait until morning to re set it up. whoops. glad its fixed tho.
I just solved the situation with mine! I'll tell you. I left the "Command" button pressed until my finger hurt HAHA, it was a long time, but it did factory reset. Then I just had to set it up as if it was new. It didn't lose my data like my Amazon account, my Spotify connection or anything. Hope that can work with yours! Regards!@@hannahgould114
Thank you! Mine was spinning blue/cyan for DAYS, was about to throw it out because I thought it would never work again. You have to hold the reset button for 1 minutes (not 30 seconds) then the orange light comes back on.
I have an Echo plus 2nd gen, constantly spinning blue ring. Tried all the recommended reset procedures and nothing. I think it’s the dreaded blue ring of death! Wasted a day Spent a day doing various things. :0(
After a brief power outage, all echo devices in the house had blue ring with rotating cyan for over an hour and wouldn't wake with voice command. I power cycled (unplugged) them one at a time to return to normal.
My Echo Dot 2 had almost no issues for years. I just recently upgraded to an Echo 4, and it feels like it gets stuck with the blue ring with one cyan spot slowly (and I mean slowly) rotating quite often. I was hoping this video might have a permanent fix, alas... Gotta reboot it when that happens.
Hi, I’ve been scouring the internet for a solution to my Alexa problem, and can’t find anything, (I’ve liked and subscribed 👍🏻) We only really use Alexa to play radio channels, but it’s just started to play for a short while then simply stop, when asked to play the station again, she does…. I’ve done all the switch on and off, re set, re install, wi fi router switch off and on, re install Alexa ap, the list goes on with no success. I even have another which I only use to play music via Bluetooth from my phone and tried this….. I hope you can help
What about a blue ring with cyan that continually spins, does not stop, does respond to voice, does not respond to any button presses, does not respond to reset command or any commands, and continues the blue spin with cyan whether you unplug it for 60 seconds or 3 days. Nothing makes it come out of that loop. The This is what I have right now with my echo premium sound. Is the echo just a paperweight now?
Me too. I've tried everything even letting it spin for 72 hours straight in case of a hardware update. Nothing is working. It's about 8 years old, first generation echo dot. I wonder how long it's supposed to last.
I have an update. Just when I thought my echo dot would be relegated to a paperweight or hockey puck, I decided to try one more time. I held down the action button for a count of 55, just when I was about to give up, the orange light came on with a message that it was setting up! The dot works perfectly now. Try holding that action button for at least a slow count of 60. It took me over a week to discover this.
Brilliant! Thank you so much. My Echo Dot last night started just spinning blue and green and the only way to stop it was to unplug it. The factory reset sorted it and my devices are all working properly again. I have also subscribed.
Hi, yes it does indeed. Updates typically happen automatically so you'll see the blue light spin occasionally on its own for a while and then reboots after the update is complete
My daughter's Alexa has a blue light with a teal spinner that goes around 3 times, then the lights go off. This repeats constantly. We have yet to find a solution 😕
Nothing worked, and then all of a sudden, my Alexa finished doing what it was doing, and I just had to open my app and reconnect 😅 Also for some insight, this never ending blue with cyan light started spinning since like 3am and I disconnected it... when I woke up, it went to that immediately, so I disconnected. When I got home, I connected it again and went back to that. I went to make dinner, came back and started watching this tutorial and lo and behold, it rebooted herself and started sipping in orange ready to connect.
my alexa dot would have a blue ring with spinning cyan/teal color. it would go on for hours/days until i would eventually unplug it. i tried EVERYTHING until i used a different power source (a different usb block). she’s finally working brand new!!!😁 the reset buttons wouldn’t work no matter how long i held them, none of it. all i had to do was use a different usb block…wow. so try using a different power source, a nicer block or cord and make sure it’s plugged into the wall not a ps4 or anything. 👍🏻
I just connected mine and it will have the Cyan with green and then the green will expand and circle too and then it will turn off and then an orange light start circling and then turns off and repeats 🧍🏽♀️

Thank you! Bluetooth pairing somehow got enabled and following your suggestion worked like a charm.
thankyou!!! i had tried everything! The disable guard mode is what worked for me!!
Me too! I've been watching that cyan light ring for months and "Disable guard mode" shut it off on all my alexas.

Hi! Sorry, how did you fixed it? Mine has been doing exactly the same.
Mine has to! For 2 days now

How did you fix it
@@LANAMIRAA right?????
It worked! Thank You so much! I just thought this device was going to the trash after days of not working!
I'm new to my Echo, so still learning. My rotating blue ring w/cyan went out on it's own, so must have been an update. Thank you.
Gaurd mode! Thank you. Thank you!!! It was a white light. Awesome.

If the homeowner is away from the home, can they turn it on remotely to see/hear what’s going on?

What about the constantly cyan spinning ring? Is it ok to to unplug and then plug it back in?

This is happening to my echo also. Nothing seems to work and blue ring still spinning.
Did you get yours sorted?
The same problem with my Alexa doesn't respond sound doesn't respond to voice and it does not show blue light .

For me to fix mine I deregistered the device and restarted wifi, that seemed to allow me to then add device again which sorted it
I have a blue solid ring with green green spinning around and the Alexa won't reset ! Any ideas?
Hold Action Button 30 Seconds to factory default. Saved you two minutes of waiting for information. You're welcome.
Thank you!
Mine was in guard mode. Thank you
It was showing blue light so i deregistered it and now it's not even pairing
Great video.Fixed my issue.
The issue with mine is it has the green ring spinning but it also doesn’t let me factory reset it

I have 2 Echo dot Alexis.
They are costly light blue light. Circling on both of them that would not go off
I had the EXACT same problem... HOLD the ACTION button until it finally resets!! I was losing all hope until I did this. 👍
The baby blue ring that never stops spinning on my Echo was fixed by your "Reset" procedure.
I have a question does my echo dot sometimes need to reboot?

Mine too…
Mine as well...
I found a solution, Jan: do a full factory reset.
Hi Jan, Have you tried factory resetting as discussed in number 3 on the video? Thanks, D
same here, I tried factory reseting it but no dice
My Alex stuck on blue light too
Stuck in blue light, connect only to mains, not indirect stuff.
The 3 tip worked for me I reset it and Alexa will turn orange and tell you she is resetting
My Alexa Echo Dot do not respond or light at all. I can play music from my phone (spotify) but that's it.
Mine is #3 but the action button isn’t doing anything and therefore I can’t reset it 😥
Mine too, did you fix it?
My Alexa is brand new and all it’s doing is turning blue. It’s not letting me set it up.

I had AT&T and switched to infinity and now I can't get Alexa to work no matter who's instructions I follow.
Do I need to set up Alexa while the room is absolutely quiet?
