Factory Resting the Echo Dot is fairly simple all you need to do is hold down the Mute and Minus Button for 30 seconds.

Awesome, thanks. Bought the first generation for my wife a few years back. She used it for a week then put it away because she was afraid of being spied on LOL. I don't care, I'm dusting this thing off and giving it a try with my Ring home alarm system. Wish me luck...

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

If your Echo Dot 2 is simply not responding, the first thing to try is to unplug it and leave it unplugged for longer than 30 seconds. After 45 seconds or so, plug it back in and it will perform a soft reset on itself. I have two Dot 2’s, and simply unplugging it for 30+ seconds has fixed any problem I’ve ever had. If that doesn’t work, the next step is the hard reset as described here.

My echo keeps running blue circles around and around then stays blue for a short period. Nothing changes this and then it starts over and does the same thing, no resets work. About to do final reset with a hammer
I might try powering it off for 1 minute and seeing if that helps

There’s around 10.000 videos about how to press two buttons. Mine has been spinning blue/white for days.. the buttons and voice are non responsive.. 3rd gen so no reset pin hole. I’m all out of ideas. The 50.000 videos about how to unplug it and plug it back in did not help either.

Sorry, I'm not sure the thing I would suggest is clearing your cache or resetting your phone.

I have one is the 2 generation but is on blue light and have only blue no pass that
Just unplug the power adapter from the device or the outlet and then plug it back in. To reset your device to its factory settings: Press and hold the Microphone off and Volume down buttons. Wait until the light ring turns orange (about 20 seconds).
The volume isn't working any suggestions
You could have a blue speaker attached I know that was pretty common with these dots.

I've had to power off a few times on mine before getting it to work
My dot just keeps blinking on blue then the light spins round once , goes tottaly out then blinks again and spins ,, repeat? Any ideas bud
I would try to power off then back on and I might check too to see if Alexa can hear you at all.
Mine's audio had stopped working even though if I called it, the lights are turning on yet still I can't hear it, any suggestions what to do?
I would try a reset for sure and then maybe powering off for a while then back on.
I know this dumb, but I would just check the volume too. If none of the above for I think you might need to get a new one.

my echo just has a blue light on, holding down the start button does not do change anything, holding the - button and mute button does nothing as well, so frustrated, in the app says "offline"

I've had that happen to sometimes unplugging and start process over.

I would try unplugging then attempting again.
Mine turns blue and spins green. Turns off. Then does it all over again. Does not acknowledge the reset
