Used to have a pair of these they sounded amazingly powerful low end

A friend of mine who works in hifi retail once visited Arcam's place. He noticed a disassembled Technics amp poorly hidden from sight in one room.
Looked like a mission getting the woofer out, was there another screw behind the first ones?
Does anyone know the capacitor values for the cresta 2's at all? Im considering replacing them with new. Cheers
Eigentlich immer interessant zu sehen, was die "großen" Marken oft für ein Billigmist verbauen. Diese Kanal ist genau so gut, wie einzelne Bauteile in diesem Video. So unbeholfen wie der Herr mit den Sachen umgeht, ist es kein Wunder das die Hifisachen nur noch billig produziert werden.

That's had the tweeters replaced,theres a pair that's just come up for sale where I live,in black ash,and on the tweeter is KEF logo

Find yourself a set of mechanic's small pick tools. Much easier to remove stubborn speakers. Any auto shop will have them. A good video of a speaker built to a price. Nothing wrong with that, if you don't like 'em you don't buy them.....simple. Good stuff for a budget system.

Well spotted, the tweeter on my Cresta 3 is completely different, they also have a chrome Kef logo on the top.

KEF Cresta 2 has the exact same specs, in a smaller box. Same for successors Cresta 10 and 30.

I wonder if these are knockoffs or originals. Kef is a company that has marketed its products through cheap retail stores so I would be careful. They have been known for quality in the past. I have a set of 104s that I purchased in about 1981. They have help up very well and still sound amazing. Thanks for showing us what is really inside some of today's KEFs. Let the buyer beware.

inside the dynaudio 70 there is foam on the walls.Wadding is used by cheap speakers.Try Replace with 3-4cm foam.I think it would be even better
You need to dampen cabinet walls. Stick metallic pads with silicon inside. Take out that silly upholstery stuff. Stick large neoprene pads inside too, put silicon gaskets, on speakers and the plastic cable receptacle, take out the awful electrolitics from the X over. Solder decent caps. you ll be amazed at the reached clarity.

Then again, these are nowhere near the top of the range KEFs.
One gets what one pays for...
I would experiment with a longer port tube and possibly a 90 degree elbow port tube and you would get more bass and possibly a different bass sound, frequency all together. The port tube these have are way to short.
And yes, I know that they are factory installed but changing that port tube would only cost a few bucks. Actually the drivers in these speakers look very cheaply made.
The crossover though looks very nice.
After experiment write down review.

and it's low end series speakers, but sound so good for so good price.
It's a Peerless OEM jobbie. Good quality budget drivers but surprised to see them in a kef speaker, who usually use their own.
Come to think of it everyone was doing OEM back in the late 90's, this whole system might be OEM with a Kef badge on it

For the last 2 years ive dove deep into speaker drivers high end and low end,for my DIY projects when i realized id never be able to afford really high end speakers cause the prices are made up by dick heads money grubbers.Anyways High end woofers and tweeters can cost between 50 and 500 each.In this speaker id say even less than 50 each. I been using seas and scanspeak woofers and tweeters in my diy speakers,with custom made crossovers that for sure are way better than what you get in the lol high end speaker. It took me a bit to get good at cabinet building and finishing,but thank the lord that now i can build a speaker pair for 1000 and it be worth 30,000 a pair from these money loving scums. DIY guys dont pay for some corporate jet plane.

Eu fico meio decepcionado com esses divisores. Capacitor eletrolitico, indutores com bitola pequena e este da KEF ainda por cima usa núcleo de ferrite. Se fizer um upgrade com indutores de núcleo de ar e bitola mais grossa e trocar por capacitores de polipropileno de boa qualidade o ganho é garantido.
А какой смысл делать разбор колонок если в них не родные Вч динамики стоят? Ну хоть не крутить их так на камеру... Это не родные ВЧ!!! Даже визуально это видно.

1 and 2 were just smaller, same quality. These are cheap speakers but anyone who knows about hifi will tell you they beat almost anything else at the price for sound quality.
'High end' KEF speakers: when opened, one doesn't find any interesting or thrilling components in them. Run of the mill design. No thank you, sir.
They cost less than $200, cheapest spakers series from Kef. Take look at different kef series.

This set of speakers look like cheap trash from the 1970's. These were released from 1999-2002?. Kef was really playing a schrewed game. Cheap crossover and speakers. The Tweeters are from Technics which is owned by Panasonic. Japanese products which are actually pretty decent but in the tweeter department, Panasonic aren't really great.
I do not enjoy is the music ....
$200 a pair.
