Great playin’ and review, man! I use Jazz Swing 13’s on my Stratocasters, but i put 10-13-17 for E-B-G. I play old school blues and rock and roll and they are perfect for it!!!
I couldn’t agree with you more regarding the string journey. I get so much pleasure out of trying different types of strings. Endless options out there!
Nice one, I like the woody sound and your playing. If you like a smooth feel and roundwound tone you could try elixir nanowebs. I find them very resonant with great feel
I've used the JS112 flatwound for years. I have two set left. It last almost to long. But now I have to change the set, and must clean😊 I use the Peerless Jazzcity, and the neck is still straight. No adjustment here I think. No buzz all over the frets and neck. I also use very low action. Has not tried these Eastman guitars
The stock D’addario roundwound set on these Eastman archtops has a total tension of @ 148.5 pounds. This Thomastik flatwound set has 153 pounds. So it’s only slightly higher overall.
Nicely done video: good picture quality, good sound, good playing. Have you ever tried T-I Jazz Bebops? I love flatwounds too, but I've used the Bebop wound strings on several guitars in the past, and I'm thinking about giving them a go again. They're very unique strings, with some of the qualities of both flats and rounds: a strong fundamental, but brighter than the Swings and with a great clarity and punch - almost piano like (I know that's a cliche but it's true for these strings).
I found a pack of LaBella 13's for $8 in the bargain bin, haven't tried them yet. How much more pressure do you need to fret the strings? Does it slow you down moving from one chord to another, or feel like more "work" ?
Funny timing, I put a set of JS112 on this guitar a couple of days ago just to give it a try and they do sound a bit different. I'll do a video with them this upcomming week. My initial thought was that the 12s give the guitar more of a regualr acoustic guitar sound roundwound type sound but part of that is just the super fresh strings. I am going to play it at a gig tonight so that should get them a bit more broken in. Thanks for watching!
You are one of the few to play unplugged which I love ! Keep them coming!
Sounds very good, I just bought my 13's 3 days ago I just can't wait to put it in my guitar

Fantastic. And I agree with you about the strings.

I need to give them a try! I've heard great things about them but I still haven't put them on one of my guitars
@@BirdsnakeBrown You might find them bright enough for rock. The 11 and 12 sets have plain g strings.
im sold
I just installed this on my 810ce. What is your pickup on this Eastman ? Sounds great!
It's the Lollar johnny smith

It depends on a lot of factors from how your guitar is set up to what strings you are used to. I went from 12s to 13s so it wasn't a huge difference.
I agree with you. But the set of 12’a has a bit warmer acoustic / unplugged sound than the 13’s to my ears. I had them on me Eastman AR810CE

So do you prefer 112 or 113?
Are you selling your ibanez? The red As50?
Not yet... it's still one of my favorites.
I had never heard of those strings before. 😎
I found the Thomastik 12's to have a rather weak D string
