After reading Joe's posting about Bernie's death on 8/24/23, and then his tribute the following day, I watched this interview again. Bernie was such a friendly, likeable guy here in the interview. Very humble, not full of himself at all. I can see why he and Joe had developed a close friendship. Rest in peace, Bernie. I wish I'd kept up with blues and rock in their heyday, rather than just going my merry way in other directions. For sure I would know more about music and be more appreciative of the art that makes rock and blues and even popular music. Still, as they say, it's better late than never! It's sad to see so many greats pass away before I even got to know them through their music.😢 But thanks to Joe's interviews, I have gotten to know a little about some of them.
As a none native english tongue it' s a pleasure listen to Bernie Marsden because he speaks without any heavy accent. Still got the Whitesnakes albums with the great duo Marsden/Moody R.i.p. Bernie great player and nice guy.
I wish! I could hit that thumbs up button as many times as I want. I have Where's My Guitar singed by Bernie. What a great book!!!!! AND A KILLER PLAYER! Here I go AGAIN ! The man the myth.
Bernie is one of my personal heroes - along with Micky Moody.. Fantastic player, fantastic musician - a (inter) national treasure. This is the best "Live From Nerdville" yet. Thank you.
I love the term`disease`in this context. I was lucky to have Uncles in the late 60`early 70`s that taught me to listen to music, I was into Zep ABB etc etc when I was 11 and knew I wanted to play guitar. Unfortunately my mum and dad couldnt afford it as i was the oldest of 6, now I am in my 60`s and now still live and breath guitar when I can get time away from work. It is in your bones and genes. and yes I have a massive guitar collection now but never ever made the top grade but I love just the time I can playing .
Thanks Bernie for sharing the stories about such special times and great people you have known and played with. Great interview Joe. You both are tops in my book!
Fantastic interview Joe! What a wonderful living legend Bernie is, and what a gentleman you are too. I don't know if you remember, but I had the pleasure of sitting and chatting with you back in 2007 after your show at the Cheese & Grain in Frome, UK. We sat talking for ages in an empty hall and you borrowed my zippo to light a cigar. You were very kind, generous with your time and encouraging. Thanks man. I'm still playing, writing, recording and releasing songs and I look forward to chatting with you again one day. Rock on, Al
Thanks for doing these interviews Joe.. it’s a great insight into the early 60/70s blues scene in London. *footnote I met Bernie once and told him I was learning the blues, he took my acoustic and said “you need to be able to do this” and played an almighty blues lick (which was truly amazing and blew me away). Which was/is the best lesson ever and has always remained the bench mark. He then kindly signed my guitar case, which I cherish both lesson and autograph.
What a joy. Truly wonderful interview, two amazing guitarists. Joes knowledge, insight and damn interesting personality lights up every interview. What a combination. I'm such a Joe Bonamassa fan... The man even without his guitar. Magical series thanks Joe... And Bernie hope to see you in Carlisle after Covid.
My # 1 favorite talk show…by my #1 favorite host! ❤️.¸¸.☆ Joe's going to introduce us to even more GREAT stuff! And I can’t wait to find out about Bernie Marsden!
A sincere thank you to joe and Bernie. I hung on every word and enjoyed it so much especially Bernie’s words on Peter Green who I used to see a lot in my teenage years at Klooks Kleek in the late sixties. Great memories of a great guitarist. Cant wait to read your book Bernie!!
For me, any interview with mentions of Green, Beck, Moore and Rory is a treat; without a doubt my top guitar influences/heroes and Bernie seems to be a humble, sweet guy. Unfortunately, other than Beck they're all gone.....if you could get Beck to sit down for an hour that would be great, but probably just a touch more likely as interviewing the aforementioned departed greats. Another hour w/ Bernie would be great. Joe B. I totally enjoy your interviews.
Brilliant! and I've got to say it again Joe, British Blues Explosion Part 2 : Peter Green, Rory Gallagher & Paul Kossof surely a no brainer? 'With a little help from your friend'.... Bernie Marsden, a perfect foil and direct connection back to those halcyon days of blues rock
I absolutely love this series, Joe, you are a great interviewer and such a good listener. This interview was a delight - Bernie Marsden is such a treasure and he has so many stories. I was really touched by his story about Gary Moore and B.B. King. Thank you so much for this wonderful interview.
Amazing! Joe - I´m a big fan of you and your work - BUT I follow Bernie since I see him live with the original Whitesnake-Line Up in 1981! Really looking forward to this episode! Keep the Blues alive - Greetings from Germany!
Had the pleasure to meet and got to know Bernie marsden when I worked at the national theatre and he played the music in two plays almost 20 yrs ago top bloke
Excellent story time interview guys. I grew up with so much of Bernie's music and had no idea of the gravity of his interconnection with so much music and so many artists. I ordered the "signed" book and can't wait to receive it. I hope to see Bernie somewhere, sometime, and I'll see you again Joe. My wife and I saw you in the old auditorium in Columbia, S.C. a couple of years ago. My parents went to dances there in the 50's. Great stuff guys, shine on and thanks for the history. Understanding the past helps us navigate the future. God bless you both.
The day Bernie mentioned, when, Gary Moore played in Birmingham, he came into PMT Music Store to look for a practice amp and even through the cheapest Vox Valvetronix he sounded incredible! I still have a picture on my phone somewhere, he was very gracious......
Superb show and it’s so fantastic to see such a world famous guitarist (turned interviewer) sit back and let the guest talk without it all being about him.. informative, engaging and super cool!!
Great interview, looking at how all these great epic musicians are so inter-connected during such a great time that heavy Blues and Rock and Roll were basically invented is mind blowing. Thanks Joe and Bernie!!!!
Great interview as always! Joe, you are the only guitarist that makes me regret not continuing my guitar lessons as a kid. I have 2 gorgeous guitars and I'll be picking them up and playing again thanks to you. Can't wait for your Ryman show. Cheers!
wow, Lonnie Donegan , I believe I may have one of his albums...lol...My Dad was in the US Air Force and we spent my first 3 years of grade school in England--I was in England when the Beatles went to America! Great memories...Thanks Yet Again Joe!
Two of my all time guitar heroes in one great interview! Wow! Thanks a lot Joe and Bernie having this! Wold love to see you performing "Place in my heart" together! BTW Joe - what about an European Fan-Shop!? There are so many great things you produce - but shipping cost to Germay are way to expensive!!! Keep the blues alive! Greetings from Germany!
'I saw Whitesnake live in probably 81 or 82 opening for Jethro Tull on their A tour. The duo of Bernie and Micky Moody on guitar and David Coverdale's voice hooked me hard. I had never heard of them before that night and have not forgot them since. Thanks Joe for this and all your other interviews. They are outstanding.
Agree so much. See your legends. Don't wait. I have seen Doc Watson! Actually, physically leaning on the stage to his right. Doc, with Jack Lawrence accompanying him.
Joe this interview is fantastic. Bernie is the man, the beast is great, but Bernie plays it. I’ve recently read his book and it’s clear he’s just a solid guy with a great talent. Whitesnake were never as good after he and Moody left.
Loved his work with the Pacemakers 😉 FUN FACT, Jimmy Page played guitar on TV before he left school. Also, BJM played on You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate.
Are the pickups in Bernie's SE signature guitar SE 245 pickups or G&B copy's from S. Korea. Now he is a booster to listen to and listen to him play. Thanks Joe.

My two favorite musicians together. Both have a ton of talent, not to mention both are classy, humble people. This was great.
I love you forever and ever Bernie. Thank you for everything. You are the light of this world.
Bernie has the greatest sparkle in his eyes, Still...Thanks man!
Hi both, it was nice to know you Bernie, miss you forever. RIP. Joe great meeting you in Turkey.
Bernie is the MAN!!! What a treat of an interview...
Met Bernie a few times and he’s a great inspiration and awesome player.

Great Interview! Iove Bernie and follow him since the late 70‘s... His book is a great read, I can highly recommend it!
Two fantastic human beings. So informed and talented. True treasures!
Joe represents everything I like about America. Sadly, Peter Green passed away before this was aired. Rest in peace Peter, you were an amazing soul.
Joe is so humble for being a guitar God..

I loved this interview. I'm buying his book!
You won't regret it!
Doesn't it cost an arm and a leg?
@@geruto17760 No more than any other book from where I'm from
Sorry, I thought you were talking about his book about his guitar collection, The Beast Edition
www.rufuspublications.com/beastedition
Bernie is always a great interview

Great watching 🎸😁
He is what he is no judgement

Hey Joe , You should have a contest for your Fan's and viewers to get a meet and Greet and a tour with you of NEARD'S VILLE
So cool. Hope you can do one with Dan Patlansky from South Africa. Would be awesome.
Loved his work with the Pacemakers 😉
FUN FACT, Jimmy Page played guitar on TV before he left school.
Also, BJM played on You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate.
Very enjoyable interview/chat
“Tell me about The Beast...”. Shameless JB on the make!
I agree about having a reason.....the inspiration is lacking in a room by yourself....
I HAVE TO RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE IF YOUR NOT INSPIRED BY THE INSTRUMENT AND THE MYSTERY IT HOLDS THEN YOU ARE DISCONNECTED TO THE SPIRIT
lot's of interesting information. Good interview.
Take you higher
Are the pickups in Bernie's SE signature guitar SE 245 pickups or G&B copy's from S. Korea. Now he is a booster to listen to and listen to him play. Thanks Joe.
