Running a Red Light Turns into Serious Charges for Woman Trying to Fool the Cops

- In the afternoon of August 21, 2021, Officer Thumann observed a green passenger vehicle violate a red traffic light. He stopped the vehicle and asked the female driver for a form of ID, but the driver could only provide verbal identification. Officer Thumann asked for anything with her name on it, such as a debit or credit card, but she denied having any of those items. While speaking to the driver, Officer Thumann could see she was shaking and unable to maintain consistent eye contact with him. Officer Thumann requested another officer as well as a K9 unit. This is footage of the events that followed.

These cops were super decent. Even parked her car so it wouldn't get towed. Even suspecting she was lying they didn't escalate, just kept doing a real investigation and figuring it out. That's the kind of policing I respect. GREAT OFFICERS!!

@Logan Liszt We all know there's some cops out there that don't act very nicely at all. I came from a small town, where they're usually rude. And the local jail? Forget about it, you get mistreated by the staff there with little recourse. That being said, I think it's just a matter of where you are. Where I'm from, cops are useful if you are in danger in their proximity, but are deeply reliant on external policing agencies, and woefully undertrained. I knew someone who was arrested by a cop in my area and the DA assistant for their case had to clarify himself to the judge the officer appeared both illiterate and inept in their report. In Europe there are routine traffic stops sometimes with dogs to check license, papers, drugs, etc. I actually don't mind that at all, screens out the people who can cause others problems by not having insurance, or even ownership of the vehicle they drive daily, not to mention drinking, DUI, etc. The more stop are there, the less people can get away with illegal things. @@kevinmach730 having a disdain for addicts isn't what gets them to get help, and your great attempts to make addicts feel shame for having an illness that is caused almost exclusively by trauma, mental illness, and/or disability really isn't a good look. those problems could be helped by doctors, sure, but they hardly ever are. doctors do everything in their power not to help despite that being their job because they have the same sort of attitude towards addicts - and other people with mental or physical disabilities/illnesses - that you do. and yes i am speaking from experience. i also find it very interesting you proceeded to assume quite a lot about bertramwinslowii2119 with zero proof merely because they called you on what you were doing to the woman in the video in the first place. you really proved their point without them having to say anything but one simple sentence. it's very obvious you don't know what you're talking about or have a very narrow-minded view about addiction. either way, you need to educate yourself on how broken the system really is.
I hope this video is used in training officers. Obviously this woman has issues and committed several crimes but they treated her with dignity and respect the entire encounter. They conducted a thorough investigation and even after she admitted to lying their demeanor never changed. Great work by these officers!!
That repeat criminal doesn’t deserve respect. They should have tased and beaten her down for the continual lying. Went the dog after her.

Right? Same here. Came here when I was 21 and I know my SSN by heart as does everyone I know. They ask for it pretty much anytime they need credit check.

I got my green card around 6 years ago and I don't remember my SSN except the last 4 digits, and yeah I always get weird looks when I say I don't know what it is.

I’m very confused by all the comments supporting this drug dealer, who tried to dump her crimes onto her sister’s clean record. People are saying that she’s "a decent human being", "a great person" and that "my heart breaks for her". I’m sure her sister will watch this footage and justifiably come to a *_very_* different conclusion.
I guess people are so used to criminals kicking off and abusing the police that in comparison a lying, manipulative drug dealer seems like a breath of fresh air, deserving of some kind of redemption arc. Madness.

After watching a few with crazy drunk people, this was relatively calm.

It's both really sad and kind of funny that you think getting arrested would help her get her life together, and not just make it all way worse. She'll be released on probation back into the exact same environment, and the first time her PO drug tests her, she'll be cycled through once again with new court fees, a new charge, etc. She'll get cycled through over and over, accrue thousands of dollars of debt, the probation violations will both make it impossible to keep a job and also each new charge will make her less employable, and when she has no money, no freedom, tons of court fees AND all the problems that led her to drugs in the first place, of course she'll do more. I've literally seen it happen dozens of times in a few different states. Running people like her through the local jailhouse for grant money is the entire cashcow of most small to medium sized police offices, and they sure as shit do not want her to get better. If the cops weren't so interested in farming people like this, we could not only set up REAL, ACCESSIBLE rehabilitation resources, but we could also create resources to help prevent the type of physical and sexual abuse that leads young women to end up in this situation.
