@@CarsWithSteve Yes I did, funny enough it wasn’t listed as an option when I was doing the build & price on Ford’s website. I needed to tell my sales rep to add it when drafting the work order. It’s seems to be a popular option with everyone I’ve talked to.

I just bought one a mouth a go 2022 with the 401A package pretty much all the same options besides the leather and the 18 speaker SS. The power is unreal, I would recommend air bags if you plan on doing any heavy towing though with that smooth ride it squats pretty good with a heavy trailer. I must say it is one of the nicest trucks I have had, I usually trade every 2 yrs.
I’m a bit like you, but I normally buy a three year old F150 then flip it for another used one every two or three years. Currently have a Lariat, but I’ll pick up an off lease 402 tremor in a couple of years time.
Love my 22 Tremor, nice review, surprised your high trim didn't have the work surface since it had the fold flat shifter. Glad you called it orange trim as that's how Ford describes it.
Thanks Mark, good catch on the orange. I called it the way I see it when I shoot the videos. I really think that the interior work surface area should be standard tech in the F150 with the console setup - once the part constraints get figured out it would be great for Ford to make that change
Great video. I really want a new tremor, but Im afraid Id have to insist on the 5.0 engine. Ask any mechanic, they will tell you same thing. More reliable, less maintenance, easier to work on. And I would put tow mirrors on the door and air bags on the rear.
It's a great truck, but to be honest, at the price of a 402A tremor, you're not far off from a Raptor. I think the sweet spot for this truck is to get it in the 401A package. While it's still an extra $6,000 in options over the base 400A Tremor, it's well woth it. Technology wise you get Co-Pilot 360 2.0 basically gives you all the safety and self-driving tech, as well as the larger screens and Sync 4 system which will future proof this vehicle for the next decade. You also get a lot of LED and cosmetic updates that give it 95% of the look as the 402A for less than half the upgrade premium. Not to mention, you're still a fair bit below the starting price of a Raptor (~10k lower), which can't be said for the 402A Tremor.
Great breakdown on the reason to future proof and I like the compare on the diff vs Raptor! The value in the 401a is there but I think it's like people who go for the Lariat over the XLT - $10k extra but it's a different feel, ventilated leather, extra tech, better sound. I'd be curious to see which is the better selling package out of the two
I just order a Tremor like this one in the review and before that I was thinking the same. Should I get a Raptor base or a Tremor fully loaded? The point is: To get a Raptor with moonroof you need to add the high package. To add the high package you move the Raptor up to 15k to 20k up again. So, it's all about what you want. I want the co-pilot active 2.0, work bench and moonroof. To get them and be on budget, I had to choose Tremor, even if my dream car is a Raptor. If all those items are not in your Wishlist. Go for a a Raptor base model
Great, thorough review. Surprised though that you didn't show the fold out center console flat work surface. It's actually a key reason I am going Ford F150 instead of one of the competitors, for I would use it often. But other than that oversight, one of the better reviews. Thumbs up. I do wish the Tremor came with springs front and rear rather than just front, but I think that requires jumping up to the Raptor. One question: You didn't mention it, but does this high level Tremor come with adjustable lumbar support for the front seats, drivers anyway? I know to get the massaging you have to go down to the Platinum or Limited, but I don't know about the adjustable lumbar feature so thought to ask you. Thanks.

Came back to watch this excellent review again. I was thinking about the fully loaded Platinum over this so that I could get the massaging seats, but since apparently for now anyway the chips for the power adjusting massaging seats are unavailable, then I am now leaning strongly towards this loaded, high end Tremor. What a beaut! And great review too. Thumbs up! Though I do wish you referenced the mpg. I need to do an mpg comparison of the Platinum vs the Tremor.

I put a leveling kit and 35 inch tires and although it looks a lil nicer but not much. It lost a lot of performance. Significantly slower acceleration and less handling. Keep it stock for all you tremor owners out there
@@CarsWithSteve I’ll build because I don’t want any of the self driving aids or features. I want a basic 402a package and nothing else. I see some optioned up to 80 new then used going for 70 with 30-40k miles. I can get a basic 402 package for 65 new with not miles.

I am looking at upgrading my older F150 and my only complaint is we can’t get the power boost engine on the Tremor, and even worse not for 2024 either :| otherwise I would love this trim.
A hybrid Tremor would be pretty neat - would take some more refinements but it should be doable. Sounds weird but message Ford Canada or USA and tell them it's something you want to see! If they don't hear from customers they'll have no idea what people might be interested in
It looks a bit orange because of the micro orange stitching and some of the small highlights in the perforated leather. Technically a black seat but the highlights give it a little tinge of orange!
Early turbocharged engines weren't at all but Ford turbos have come a long way. A few mechanic buddies with Ford are seeing less 2.7L/3.5L turbos to work on over the last few years. You have to maintain them a bit more compared to naturally aspirated but can last a while if they're maintained properly
You get a few more things than just leather seats for $11k.. 12" digital cluster, 360 camera, 8 speaker Bose, heated steering wheel, ventilated 1st row seats power pedals and a boat load more. If that tech doesn't matter to you at all you could just stick with the Tremor standard group and do an aftermarket Katzkin seat install for $2-3k instead
Problem is they don't offer a choice of engines or cab configurations. Ford does not offer in a SuperCab with 6.5 bed or with the 5.0L V8... Really would love this package in a truck. Should have come with the 35's like on the F250 Tremor, don't know if this version has the Torsen front diff. for off-road use. Looking at performance more than looks if building for an "Off-Road" truck.
It's an interesting call from Ford to not offer full flexibility. Demand is the biggest part of the equation though - how many people are going to order a 6.5' F150 Tremor with the 5.0L V8? If there are enough people willing to put down the money for it I'm sure it would be worth Ford's time to do a run of trucks with that build. I think rim and tire choices should be opened up a bit for sure. Having the option for more rugged upfitting from the factory would be great

I'm in Peterborough waiting for my factory order. I was told auto start/stop delete was not an option. Might have to call and ask because I really want that.
Hey Sean! The most recent Canada and US order guides still allow for the Start/Stop Removal but that also depends on your build. What engine and full build did you go for?

I do appreciate what Ford is trying to do here; providing an option in between a standard F150 (FX4 maybe) and a full-on Raptor. However, as long as I can build an STX that performs just as well or better as the Tremor for thousands less, and have my pick of 3 motors as well as more paint options and a better looking grille, I will always go that route. Is there even a lift in front? Ford if you are listening: just please offer an "off-road package" (and no, not the FX4) on ANY F150 platform, that includes a TRUE 2" lift, upgraded rear shocks, more aggressive tires (most trims already come with 33" tires albeit all-seasons), and the front valance delete, and you will have a winner for what just cannot be an expensive option, while keeping msrp much lower depending on trim. My personally built STX would perform as good or better than the cheapest ($53k) Tremor, and I paid $10K less.
Well put.. an FX4 and Raptor had a baby. There have been people who have done some amazing things aftermarket for their trucks for a fraction of what it would cost from the factory. Similar in the Mustang world. You could go for the GT500 for $120k or the Mustang GT with an aftermarket supercharger and necessary cooling/parts for maybe $80k. I think a lift from the factory would be pretty neat. There are dealers in some provinces/states that do upfitting to stock unit trucks to give people options. There would have to be a demand from people for Ford to consider it but I can't see a factory lift kit being out of the question
@Cars With Steve I can lift any F150 a true 2" front and rear, with longer rear shocks and 4 wheel computerized alignment, for $700 installed. Granted this is a "spacer" lift, but really isn't that what Ford does anyway? I would think a large producer of vehicles could figure out how to adjust for a 2" lift at similar cost as standard F150's at time of build right on the assembly line. Same with tires; cannot cost much more to install the RPO "offroad" tires in place of the all-seasons that were going on there anyway. I bet Ford could offer all that as a simple $2k upgrade option if they really wanted (thats what it costs me and I dont get things at wholesale or kickbacks or own my own factory). Alas, but the money isn't in simple upgrade options. It's in specialty vehicles. 😉 Anyway thanks for the response and great vid!

I would have actually highly considered this but ford has been so horrible with allocation, pricing, and poor incentives that I instead went into a new zr2 considerably below msrp.
If I had $5 for every time he says "absolutely gorgeous" during the first few minutes of the review then switch to getting paid $5 for each time he says "as well" through the rest of the video.....hell, I could retire!

I made it 20 seconds into the video before I had to stop. Saying it's a mix between an xlt and a Lariat was a clear indication you don't know your ford products. A 402A tremor is the equivalent to a 502A Lariat, not a mix of an xlt. I own a 2020 502A Lariat and just ordered a 2022 402A Tremor.
If only you could last longer than 20 seconds. This video is on the Tremor and I outline key differences between packages as the video progresses. Look at the specs on the truck. The 400a/401a are on par with the XLT whereas the 402a is on par with the Lariat. Hence the mix between XLT vs Lariat 🤡 Thanks for the laugh 😂
Yeah it's weird how they don't open up more engine options for this thing. Always the option for an aftermarket swap or beefing up an XLT 302a with some other options

That's just factory! There are some pretty good lift kits like the Rough Country that'll give you 2.5" or more lift

Is the auto/stop delete standard on the 402a package? I have a loaded Tremor om order. Would like to know. I'm in Pee.

I do appreciate what Ford is trying to do here; providing an option in between a standard F150 (FX4 maybe) and a full-on Raptor. However, as long as I can build an STX that performs just as well or better as the Tremor for thousands less, and have my pick of 3 motors as well as more paint options and a better looking grille, I will always go that route. Is there even a lift in front? Ford if you are listening: just please offer an "off-road package" (and no, not the FX4) on ANY F150 platform, that includes a TRUE 2" lift, upgraded rear shocks, more aggressive tires (most trims already come with 33" tires albeit all-seasons), and the front valance delete, and you will have a winner for what just cannot be an expensive option, while keeping msrp much lower depending on trim. My personally built STX would perform as good or better than the cheapest ($53k) Tremor, and I paid $10K less.
Well put.. an FX4 and Raptor had a baby. There have been people who have done some amazing things aftermarket for their trucks for a fraction of what it would cost from the factory. Similar in the Mustang world. You could go for the GT500 for $120k or the Mustang GT with an aftermarket supercharger and necessary cooling/parts for maybe $80k.
I think a lift from the factory would be pretty neat. There are dealers in some provinces/states that do upfitting to stock unit trucks to give people options. There would have to be a demand from people for Ford to consider it but I can't see a factory lift kit being out of the question
@Cars With Steve I can lift any F150 a true 2" front and rear, with longer rear shocks and 4 wheel computerized alignment, for $700 installed. Granted this is a "spacer" lift, but really isn't that what Ford does anyway? I would think a large producer of vehicles could figure out how to adjust for a 2" lift at similar cost as standard F150's at time of build right on the assembly line. Same with tires; cannot cost much more to install the RPO "offroad" tires in place of the all-seasons that were going on there anyway. I bet Ford could offer all that as a simple $2k upgrade option if they really wanted (thats what it costs me and I dont get things at wholesale or kickbacks or own my own factory). Alas, but the money isn't in simple upgrade options. It's in specialty vehicles. 😉 Anyway thanks for the response and great vid!
@@peruser155 I think the issue of adding it in at the factory level is the logistics that goes into it. The tires would definitely make sense - easy enough to open up to different choices

a truck like that is more of a lariat to platinum comparison than xlt to lariat
The way it's built it is for sure.. but if you took out all the optional features the 401a Tremor is more like an XLT and 402a is more like a Lariat
360 camera is available on all levels
Ford order guides have the 360 camera package included in the 402a in Canada/USA and optional in the US 401a
Did Ford remove the American flag in that interior? I have a real problem with that if they did. It is on my 2021 F150 Tremor - EDIT: Is it because in Canada?

I would have actually highly considered this but ford has been so horrible with allocation, pricing, and poor incentives that I instead went into a new zr2 considerably below msrp.

All of these videos are unscripted and for some reason I find I always have a stupid filler word
I made it 20 seconds into the video before I had to stop. Saying it's a mix between an xlt and a Lariat was a clear indication you don't know your ford products. A 402A tremor is the equivalent to a 502A Lariat, not a mix of an xlt. I own a 2020 502A Lariat and just ordered a 2022 402A Tremor.
If only you could last longer than 20 seconds. This video is on the Tremor and I outline key differences between packages as the video progresses.
Look at the specs on the truck. The 400a/401a are on par with the XLT whereas the 402a is on par with the Lariat. Hence the mix between XLT vs Lariat 🤡

Yeah it's weird how they don't open up more engine options for this thing. Always the option for an aftermarket swap or beefing up an XLT 302a with some other options
