    If you sing with poor technique, age will worsen your vocal range since there is only so much beating your vocal cords can take before you cannot do it anymore.
    If you sing with healthy technique, however, your range will be preserved and at times even increased. If anything, your vocal maturity comes with age, and by the time you hit your 40s to early 50s you should be at your vocal peak (unless you are extremely old in your 70s or 80s, for example, and even then the decline is not too much if your technique is fine). This is why it is important to learn proper technique for me.

    • @CrazySinging
      @CrazySinging  Рік тому +7

      Totally agreed! And with a foundation of classical technique and learning proper breath support, appoggio and how to be completely free of tension - especially when going higher. It’s why I obsessed over this topic until I found a technique I knew was totally consistent and healthy and could never damage me. I made a ton of research until I found something that really made me sure I’d never hurt myself because it’d just be too frustrating for me to handle.
      I think the best or healthiest technique I could find is just M2 based mixed voice mixed with a classical technique foundation for appoggio and even some Taoism methods and postures to increase breath support to be the best in every single way. I explain the mechanics of all this at www.crazysinging.com if anyone is interested

      If singers take care of their general health and don't abuse their voices with excess alcohol, smoking, drugs, certain foods and the sheer exhaustion of endless parting, travel and she absolute havoc such a lifestyle causes, they can keep singing well, even in their 90's, though perhaps not as often or as loudly as in youth, but that's why there's sound amplification equipment. However the sort of lifestyle that hoes with the hard rock/metal scene such music happens in will make it impossible for such singers to live the sort of healthy lifestyle needed to preserve voice. Their fans expect them to party hard, engage in all sorts of unhealthy, self destructive behaviours. If you want to live a long, clean healthy, safer lifestyle and also keep your fine voice, just don't do this style of music. Once you're old, all washed up, good voice gone, no longer young and cute longer, fans can be so cruel. Just dump you. Is it worth it all? Maybe if you had no other career choices or you mad3 a gortune and so m rhow managed to avoid early self destruction and know when yo get out, whilst still ahead. Stay silent a while to give your voice Time to self repair, th we n switch to a less damaging style or simply play an instrument,instead, or choose a melody one that resembles human voice.

      that and the axl dc shows didnt help him at all, axl can still do his screams, just saves them for when its necessary and opts to sing in lower registers now until he needs to punch it or falsettos (kind of like joe elliot from def leppard)

    • @AnnemarieMay
      @AnnemarieMay 10 місяців тому +2

      But, even at 60 Axl can still sound good if he adjusts his vocal style yo accommodate vocal maturity. With age, most voices seem to get lower. Therefore, choose lower pitched songs ie their 'tessitura' or drop the vocals to a lower key. Guitar players doing the accompaniment may grumble about having to play in some key they hate, just t o accommodate the singer,but it's how to sound good. It's easier for some voice types than others. For my voice, just play everything in the easy C key and it will be OK, but not g or other voice types, some of which may require very complex keys yo play in, so the singer sounds good. Singing a song that best suits the best part of their vocal range. Once you figure this out, musically, it all falls I to place easily and knowing which songcwill or won't work for a certain voice type becomes second nature. You csn sound crap singing a song in one key. Change the key do it better suits your voice type and you suddenly sound fantastic. Like artistic magic.

      Axl still being able to do what he does at 60+ and
      still looking good is phenomenal, though Duff, Slash and the rest of the band also look and sound good. So what if they modify the songs a little so they can keep performing at that age, night after night. How many 50 and 60 year olds can still d o what they do, look as as they do?

      Yeah, but he looks very good for his age, despite the wear and tear of the rock'n'roll band lifes6yle and also trying to be a good husband and daily man he is and do community charity, too. He is rich enough now yo not have to give a damn what prople think of his voice or enjoying a drink or two. There comes a time in mature age life when someone who has always tried to live a good life, is entitled to relax and have a bit of gun themselves, too. Especially entertainers like him, Axl and others. These guys a pend their entire lives creating entertainment fun gor others, but, to them, it is just more work. They rar3ly get t o have much fun themselves or be eith their loved ones, as they watch everybody else in the audience Roman c I g their loved ones to their music etc. If these musicians even have time for some loved one willing to put up with havi g such a partner who is accessible to everybody else, except them, due to performance demands etc, they will probably be home alone, lonely. Or, if it gets too unbearably lonely, they'll go seek out others they don' t love, just for some human connection, to ease their loneliness.Which typically results in the real love r3lationship with an artist ending, due to infidelity. There is temptation to infidelity everywhere, for both the musicians as well as their partners left back home alone. Hence all the massive number of lovers these types typically burn their way through, often ending up alone, old, addicted to substances etc, all washed up, no longer worshipped ny anybody in old age. Many don't even make it to old age, due to demands of such artistic careers that take their toll on their personal lives.

      Some can recover from the damage but they need a period of silence, living a healthier lifestyle and so m e special vocal exercises that can teach the voice to sing different ly, less strain. And then switch to a less damaging genre than hard rock/metal. It takes time to repair the damage. I li k e such music, but, even if I could sing it, I'd sooner play an inst5ument lije base or guitar or woodwind, keyboards, percussion, any thing but sing. Such musicians can last longer than singers, even if guitar gingers get shredded or they develop repetitive strain injury.

    It's easy to call "improper technique". But can anyone really do that type of distortion , with that timber, without losing the voice ? I don't think so.

    Axl started getting this weird sound to his voice in the 90s, and like Motley Crues front man I think its because of the booze and drugs. Alice Cooper and Mick Jagger are prime examples of what taking care of your voice sounds like at an older age.

    • @AnnemarieMay
      @AnnemarieMay 9 місяців тому

      Mick Jagger certainly d I'd do drugs and wild living but, as he matured, he became very health and fitness conscious. Which is why h e can still do it at 80.

    This happens when you don’t take care of your self, let’s take Bruce Dickinson as a prime example, his voice is still magical as it was back in the 80’s. Maybe not the same pitch but def same energy. And undeniable you can recognize his voice the moment you hear it.

    Thing is. Axl still can sing with rasp- and sound like he did in the 80's / 90's however he wisely chooses not to- because he cannot keep it up for a full concert and will probably permanently cause irreversible damage to what is left of his voice.

      @@talknewz7617Sweet Child O Mine with Carrie Underwood 2022 towards the end of the song, sounded like the 90's. Same show, Paradise City towards the end hits a huge high note.
      Every Welcome to the Jungle intro has the rasp.
      Patience needs a lower register but the end of the song he sings the first half at a low rasp.

    Axl’s voice has held up far better than Bon Jovi. The comparison is not fair. Bon Jovi lost his voice very early on. Axl’s was maintained until 2017, a few rough spots along the way, but overall, still hitting F#5s/G5s in every show
