Axl´s voice has a really peculiar characteristic, which your last comments seem to confirm: his voice splits. It creates audible harmonics that sometimes make you believe two singers are onstage. I would not go as far as to say that you don´t know which octave he´s reaching, but it certainly has the quality of dividing the same air stroke into a not compact sound.
I just did some cool childhood storytimes of GNR shows in my Growing Up In Rock N Roll series. And you can come see my parrot who’s a big fan do the Axl snake dance. And some song reviews, & cool stories.

@@tonybates1537 Yeah FOTS was good. but I'd say, aside from powerage, the most underrated acdc album is blow up your video, which was their first 80s album to feature orginal producers Harry Vanda and George Young (of the easybeats, and george was ang and mal's big bro). last to feature Vanda (George did Stiff Upper lip). both have a classic blues rock n roll feel, and its nice. best tracks off of FOTS were Guns for hire, Nervous Shakedown, the title track was good too, and Rising Power. Shake down and Rising power are probalby the heaviest tracks on the album.
There are a lot of great vocalists, but are there any vocalists who keep running and dancing screaming throughout the 2,3 hours of the concert except axl rose, and not for one or twice it's done dozens of times a year for many years, are there?
1:50 that's definitely false. He's merely singing an Eb5. That's actually something almost anybody can sing. It's totally different to say that his upper harmonics are within those notes, but whats actually important is the fundamental F0, and it's approximately an Eb5. Impressive for its quality, but NOT for being it supposedly over what any soprano has ever sung. Almost any good soprano can surpass that F0 easily. And it's known in vocal science that, around E5, the sopranos acoustic approach makes them avoid any boost of upper harmonics, because that would mean reducing it's carrying power and her voices would become shrill (those upper harmonics are enhanced because of closing espace around the piriforms, in the low place of the vocal tract) and their voices are high and strong enough to reach anywhere without that boost around 6-10khz. Oh, and also because of the distortion with his ventricular folds.
Yes, I’m sorry about it. It was my first weeks analyzing Axl and his harmonics caught me off guard; the sound was so industrial and crazy I thought maybe it was some crazy technique for the sixth octave. The second harmonic is terribly stronger than the fundamental and this was shown in Adobe Audition which confused me even further. I’ve corrected these on later analyses. Thanks for your comment

listen to the geordie era, the early 80s, (BIB-FOTS) late 80s/90(FOTW-B), 2000s (SUL-BI) and ROB, and PU. His voice is changed a lot. U can hear his age on Power Up for sure, and his vocal abuse adds up to even more grit.
Love Brian's singing on Shake a Leg. Also a big fan of the whole Flick of the Switch album, although performing songs like Nervous Shakedown surely contributed to the deterioration of his voice. I often wonder how much more awesome Thunderstruck would have been with him in his prime.
Yes truly he’s great ❤🙏🏼
The scream in TWAT when he sings ''I would do anything for yoooooou'' is also awesome.
classic Axl, getting arrested for biting a hotel guard 🤣
I'm here to leave this bomb of a song here .
"Ain't it fun"
Yup, and There Was a Time
2:16 WHAT
That belt is insane. I listen to I.R.S. almost everyday since this video haha
It’s so amazing!!!
The "I would do anything for you" lines from 'There Was a Time" are at about the 4 minute mark and hit what I am pretty sure are the same notes as IRS
my #1 hero when it comes to rock music. guns n roses 4ever
Great analysis, it shows you put a lot of work into this. Really good job! :)
0:52 2:26 how many octaves are these apart?????? i've heard his vocal range is of 5 octaves but is this more????
C2 to Eb6 would be a few semitones over 4 octaves. However I’m sure his range is wider! I’ll try to check
Best rock voice ever❤️
INSANE!!
One of my favourite singers of all time
A living legend 🔥
That scream in IRS is one of my favorite parts in the whole album
It it absolutely insane
There are a lot of great vocalists, but are there any vocalists who keep running and dancing screaming throughout the 2,3 hours of the concert except axl rose,
and not for one or twice it's done dozens of times a year for many years,
are there?
What is the program you use to see which notes they hit
Adobe Audition
I can't help but think that the sustained note you played from I.R.S. is pitch corrected.
Axl Rose has been my favorite singer since I was 8 yrs old, I'm 41 now.
This is so incredible 🌼🌼🌼💙👌👌👌
Scraped, There was a Time and the blues (streets of dreams) from Chinese Democracy are so epic too
1:50 that's definitely false.
I'm just gonna throw this out here, whilst I do enjoy singing along with many a Gn'R songs, my vocal range is limited only between a drunken Bob Dylan & a cat in heat, imho.
He is one of my favorites, he is so talented and has an amazing voice, I really liked his voice in “since I don’t have you”, even though it’s not the most popular song, he voice is just so calming. And it shows that he can sing loud and quiet.
Lovely! Out of all your vids I think Axls Re the hardest !
