Watching Alicia with her dad makes me happy. I'm 37 now and I'm parentless. I lost my mom when I was six and I just lost my dad. So watching Alicia making peace with her dad makes me happy. She is one good daughter.

He regrets it for many reasons. She accomplished so much success on her own without his contributions to her life. He is not able to take any credit for her success. He was blessed with such a special daughter that he ignored most of her life. Unlike him, Alicia opened her heart to him, something he could not reciprocate to his own father. In spite of it all, God gave both of them a chance to connect & heal.

I saw my biological person a few times growing up. Had a rough life growing up with a single Mom whom herself had been abused as a child so she never really figured life out. For the sake of myself after my children were grown I decided to try and find him and I did. I
First thing I said was” wait please don’t hang up”. I just wanted you to know that I forgive you and I truly hope hope that you have a peaceful life”. We talked for about 5 minutes in which he had said” let’s meet for breakfast”. Two weeks later he cancelled and said” I don’t think he could have a relationship with me because he knew he would just hurt me. So it’s good to forgive and Alicia you and your Father are better for it. I have not talked with him since. He only lives 40 minutes away from me always has been that close. Thanks for sharing it will encourage many others to try and maybe show Fathers that just because the didn’t do what they should of there’s always a chance to make it up some of the way if they want to.

I've always admired Alicia, but never personally followed her. She's in a class of her own, and I do pick up on her spirit of realness and how important it is to be genuine, or just to be yourself. When I saw her a few years ago where she decided to not wear makeup anymore, that showed me that she was tapping more into being her raw self. Alicia, thanks for sharing who you're privately and personally. I feel people love you more when they can see you're human and go through like everyone else. I love your relationship with your husband and , it shows no one is trying to control who you are. Again, this is my first time following Alicia Keys, and I am glad I did, she's marvelous, and even more, she's a Nubian Queen. May GOD forever bless your marriage, your family, your friends, your followers, and your career. 🙏❤️🙏

She gave him the privilege to give her away when she got married. My heart went right to her mother saying no body cares about me. She should have had that privilege. He should have been a quest. My prayer for A Keys is that she continues in her authenticity; accepting and embracing the Divine path that has been destined for her. My soul is enriched witnessing, in this clip, her relationship with her dad being repaired in spite of the past. So many are bound by the negatives of their past and cannot get beyond it. I also appreciate her candor about Crucial. It was heartwarming! I pray that he knows that she respects and honors his contribution to her career and that he harbors no resentment toward her.
I’ve always admired A Keys as an upstanding artist. And I don’t champion many artist. But Alicia has always had a certain confidence, modesty, spirituality and self-respect that, in my opinion, is applaudable. Oh yea…and congrats on becoming “independent!”

I love how relatable you are Alicia. You say so many things that I have said verbatim in my diary; especially when it comes to life and dealing with people. You have to stay vigilant; like seriously! A sad truth or you will get played at every turn, and I haven't even done a fraction of the things you have. Your voice sounds more beautiful every year and I truly think it is because you are finding and accepting yourself and realizing your power to make things happen and believing in your connection to music and your ability to forgive and to move on. I got the feels when you mentioned "over everything" I totally get it. Overperforming, overdoing, overaccepting, overhelping, over going out of my way, over EVERYTHING! I've done it. And it eventually means nothing to the people who seem to be thankful for it. I don't do that anymore. Moving on is something that can chain people for many years and never even know it! "Keys, because keys open doors" I often wondered how you got the name. I always said it had to be much more meaningful than just she plays the piano extraordinarily well. Now I know :) Thank you :D
