This literally just happened to me as I was making a smoothie right before work. The mug was stuck on the base and would not release. I came across your vid and what you suggested worked in less than 30 seconds. Thanks for being kind enough to post such a realistic and safe solution!!!
Good job! In the list when I searched for this I found videos up to 15+ minutes long and many of the shorter ones included awesome methods to skin your knuckles or worse. Take care.

Here is a 5 minute fix, after watching other videos where people took the whole thing apart, I realized there is nothing electrical in the top where these activators are. If they aren't all three moving chances are this is your problem. Unplug the unit and put it upside down in a pie pan (or equivalent) add hot soapy water and fill just below the lip and let it sit 5 minutes. Pick it up and dry off before setting it upright and plugging in. Take the back of a spoon and press down on the activators until they all click. If they are still stuck, try again or take apart and clean - I sprayed mine with wd-40 afterwards for some added lube. Thats it! Working again! Now that I know this I'll probably proactively do it to avoid it getting too gummed up. Enjoy and thumbs up if this worked for you!
You know what is REALLY Sad - There are over 200K combined views of "How to Fix your stuck Magic Bullet" - So that's what - a 20% or 30% fail rate? DO YOU SEE A PROBLEM HERE MAGIC BULLET MANUFACTURERS???? I sure as hell do! Perhaps you should include a packet of Food-Grade Silicone w/ each Bullet kit? Or Everyone should just buy them at Costco and return them like I did. My bullet broke when it locked up - so I took it back to Costco (after 2 years) and they gave me a store credit. Bought the Ninja. BAD PRODUCT MAGICLESS BULLET!
Maybe try cleaning longer. On mine the first two sections cleaned easier . The third one was more stubborn but finally cleared.😊 Just noticed your comment was 3 years ago. I hope it worked.

Wd can leak back into the drink- conceivably.

this really works but if you don't want to add water to the machine use a little olive oil it works better

I used an eye dropper and some vegitable oil in the stuck slot. I think the alcohol will soon dry up and same problem again.

My wife has the big ninja and she sprained her hand a month ago trying to remove a stuck mixer cup. Dumb design.
