      I’ve noticed the average size of trout improve in the last month since using the tassies more, maybe that aggressive movement gets the bigger trout to react better, only problem is the perch absolutely love them aswel . 😂👌

    Good Job, Thanks for sharing.
    In Wyoming lakes, I often get 10+ trout to the boat in 3-4 hours with the pink or orange Tazzies, so far the biggest was 22". Great trout lures!

    Great vid mate, I am from Tasmania, and if you want few little tips , we often tie a wet fly, 50 cm above, our Tassie devil lures! Catch rate goes, up, we also use a single hook, in stead of treble, find we get more hook ups! And of course better for the catch and release! When it comes to speed we find if rod tip is pulsing , lure is mostly traveling, at right speed! Thanks again and tight lines!!

      Really cool info bud thank you 👌 savage to see the video reaching you, do you ever cast the tassies ? I know you have to vary the retrieve to get the trout to switch on aggressively but any other tips? 😎

      @@senanstanleyfishing Yes spin cast with them more than any, other lure, for trout! My grand father was a fishing mate of Mr Wigston, the family that invented that lure!
      As far as tips go, 1/ cast to structure, Browns love it! 2/drive your boat in a S pattern, this way you cover different depths, and means your lures, are covering, water not effected by, prop wash! If you ever get to Tasmania , you would be more than welcome, and I can get you on to some, very good trout! Get you hooked on to a brown or a rainbow of 5 pound plus, is a huge rush! Over 10 pounders are not a common thing here, but fair few are taken every season ! All the best!

      That’s exactly what we do here too, troll in zig zags, done lots of fishing with the tassies near the end of our last season, the rapalas work best early season here as our perch spawn early so the trout are feeding on perch fry for about 2 months, there’s an Irish trout lure im very fond of called the “lane minnow” , check it out, in 2inch size, would love to hear how the trout react to it over there 👍

      What size and type of wet fly?
      Do you tie it directly in line with the tazzy or off set it with a bit of line?

    • @grantlaredo9795
      @grantlaredo9795 2 місяці тому +1

      @@Stratagos11 Depend on place and time, of the season, But mrs simpsons, black and red Matuka streamers , are go to flies! I use a triple surgeon's knot, (easy knot to learn, look up on You tube) from main line, 15 cm long and tie on the fly. After tying on, and trimming tag ends, this leaves a dropper of about 10 cm. Note i use this same rig in salt water, chasing other species. Works a treat! But use a heavier lure & flashy fly in the salt! All the best.

    Nice lure mate, living down here in Tassie they are a great lure. Have used them in Ireland and caught some nice fish. The black and white Zebra pattern was my go to lure there. Or the frog pattern. Depending on the season or the day I guess. Trout are always finicky. Great vid too. 👌

    Well Senan, good video bud. The trout in Lough Derg have very small, narrow heads in relation to their bodies, I find the biodiversity of the trout here in Ireland amazing. Trout through our water systems have little differences in each water system.

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Ya it’s very interesting gary, we have 4 different variants of brown trout here on Derg apparently, each fish you meet looks different, my favourite are the big golden bellied browns, they are stunning, a majority of the fish I meet are little bars of silver, such a variety out there. 👌🎣

    Instead of trebles or even single hooks the big thing here in Australia is twin singles.
    Put the devil on then tie the line to a split ring with 2 single hooks with the points facing each other. The movement through the water pushes the points apart and has an excellent hook up rate and you don't lose them 👍👍

    Hi Senan, just wondering if you would recommend the Penn wrath reel you are using in this vid for spinning for salmon ? Is it a good reel and does it hold a good capacity of mono line? Great videos . Cheers from Scotland

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  3 місяці тому

      Hey mark, ya the wrath was a good reel, it holds loads of mono with its deep spool, it’s a slightly heavier reel than other brands, but it’s definitely sturdy. Penn make good stuff. The wrath would be one of their cheaper options, but it’s handled trout and meter long pike no problem.

    Great videos. Do you find certain baits work better start , middle and end of season for trout. So many different types between lane minnows, tazzies, rapalas. Do you use toby spoons

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Huge difference Ray. Early season I only fish rapalas for the first two months, middle season generally lane minnows depending on the conditions, then late season always lane minnows and tazzies, I’ve never like using Toby spoons as they attract a lot of pike, they do catch fish tho, but i prefere minnow style lures for trout. 👌🎣

    Love the videos, I thought this one was just for me as we were trolling Tassies on Lough Erne last week with some success. Do you not find pike hit them too though? I have taken to running them on a fine wire trace through them (like a line thru) with split ring and treble. With 28lb wire trace avout 12" long, it doesn't seem to put trout off any. The one you caught the fish on is my son's all time favourite BTW!

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  2 роки тому

      Great stuff mark. No I haven’t had a single pike on them this year absolutely crazy, although I troll quite fast in deep enough water nowhere near weeds so I guess that helps, all trout with some perch every now and again. Good idea with the wire trace if you’ve been getting pike. I get pike when using the small rapala countdowns for trout so use the wire trace then. Tassies have been unbeatable the last 3 weeks down here for the trout 👌🎣

  • @BOBisjustBOB

    Great vlog, do you always use the bead and treble? I attach treble to a small split ring and a small swivel which goes into body of lure. I must try your method and also was counting your winds in one shot (79) which is a lot further back than I do and gonna try that as well 🙂

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Ya man I like to keep my swivel up away from the lure haven’t had any problem with the bead and treble thank god, I’m terrible for letting out a lot of line sometimes when after trout, sometimes I fish it right behind the boat, sometimes I let it back into next week, they don’t seem to mind either way. 👌🎣

    Are you aloud to put a stinger hook on for short strikes. I mean that bait works really well all by itself just a question don't know if it's aloud. And tipping it with minnows.

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  Рік тому

      Wouldn’t advise adding bait to these lures with the amount of pike around 🐊 wouldn’t add a stinger either, this lure picks up a lot of floating weed due to its movement in the water 👌
