You have a great skill at telling a story and making it intresting. If you lived in Ireland you would be the president of Ireland or at least you would have your own tv show telling stories. Well done again. There's not many people that can sit at a table talking with out fishing and catching a fish or showing beautiful scenery and keep it interesting 10 out of 10. 👍looking forward to your next upload. Mate.
Got an underwater camera and confirmed what you said about 1:50 on your video. The tassie devil swings side to side. Cool footage to see especially when it works. My best luck has been with the Tiger Fire color combo. Great video and informative! Thank you!
Great video Robbie I've just started using these in Scotland and have good success with them wading and from the boat. Casting rather than trolling I've a few vids on my channel of the results
hi I am 13 and big into fishing really enjoy your vids just subscribed u are really smart when it comes to trout fishing and it is really entertaining to watch these vids
Totally agree Robbie , I have been using the pink Tassie for many years now and is my favourite here in WA , I don't no why they still sell them with that stupid wire and treble as most end up in the bin Keep up with the great videos Mate
Robbie I always take the trebles off my Tassie devils. Also the way you rig up is the same as me for one reason the trout cant use the lure for leverage to sit the hook out. Get ya drill out convert the small Tassie devils to dual depth ones I have.
Hi Robbie. Very informative and good advice. I troll on Lake Eildon. Once I caught 2 small Redfin on the same treble on a Tassie devil and a 10 pound yellowbelly on one too. Do you have any other trolling videos? I made myself 2 side planers and am keen to try them. Have you used them? I use paravanes a lot particularly in warmer weather. Do you any tips on using attractors? Well done. Cheers Phil
Great vid and very informative I have fitted some line counters to my rods to make things easier to judge trolling line out from eBay for $12 each. What would be the optimal distance for line out for the two rear stern rods which are parallel to the boat and the two rods up front on the side of the boat in 4 rod trolling scenario to avoid lines crossing. Love your vids keep up the great work.
G'day Marty, thanks for the comment. Sandy has all of that calculated. He also quite often uses a line counter when trolling. Too technical for me mate. LOL I do know that when I troll a minnow and a Tassie together I always have the floating minnow at the back and the sinking Tassie at the front so that if Sandy hooks up and puts the motor out of gear the Tassie will sink and the minnow will float to avoid tangling.
Thanks for the reply mate those line counters take all the guess work out I've found them indispensable for trolling cheers.www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fishing-Line-Length-Counter-Fishing-Line-Depth-Gauge-Clip-On-Rod-/291173907415?hash=item43cb513bd7:g:5o0AAOSwBvNTpSdm
Large Tazzie useless 20g and 13g work best. Hopefully helpful advice for anyone wondering why they are not having any luck with their more expensive dedicated pike lures :-)
Robbie where were you I was waiting and waiting and waiting for you to upload a vid I was thing where's my favourite UA-camr gone. Keep up the good work robbie
The fish on the opening shot is absolutely beautiful! So I'm in the states...will the tassie swivel the opposite direction? J/K...in all seriousness, this is a very informative video..well done.
Loads of intel mate, i have to say i have always gone shit house with the TD's, not sure why but i will follow your advice for sure. On another front, how you going over there for Crays? water levels are too bloody high over here at the moment, i think the season will be nearly over before i get a chance to go after em, probably mid to late August, maybe not at all if we keep getting all this rain..... frustrating as. Cheers Moose.
Thanks Moose. We have the same problem here mate. Our rivers are shagged at the moment. There's a lot of people craying on Lake Mulwala to avoid the high water. I've heard plenty of reports from Mulwala but not many from anywhere else. Everybody is catching crays in the top end of Mulwala but legal crays are hard to come by. Testimony to the concentrated fishing pressure I guess.
Hi mate, no you can definitely cast them too. Most people troll them, but I have had a lot of success casting them, particularly in rivers. Smaller ones are better for this though.
yes , I bought 3 at a sportsmans show last winter. Looking forward to using them. Most of the fish are in 30 to 50 feet down so I'll use a down rigger.
Southern Tas Climbers .....The best colour to use in Tassie lakes or river is the green/gold color (frog pattern)...I live here and fish heaps , Arthurs , bronte, great lake.
ramseyrebal Hi mate you have great eyesight! There's no Tassie devils in my area. They're all down in Tasmania. I'm in Vctoria. I could not see It, but there's a fair chance that it may have been a rabbit or a hare.
Southern Tas Climbers .....hey mate. went over and enjoyed witching some of your vids. you might be interesred in buckin billy rays channel. he's an old school tree service guy in canada. restores old axes with custom handles , uses old mc culloch saws . think you would enjoy it.
Damon R Hay mate you sure can. They're not the greatest casting lure ad the tend to sway around a lot as they move through the air, however their heavy weight allows for decent casting distances.
Greetings from NZ. Great tips thankyou! The zig zag of the boat and plenty of line out away from the boat is right on point.

Catching plenty of Pike on these lures. Better catch rate than dedicated pike lures. Top notch

Gday Rob, just wondering if you've seen many goat on your adventures?
Any foils green gold. Zebra stinger slow retrieve with a variation in speed even great back to front. Quicker more twitchy action.
Good knowledge.....What else do you troll for trout with?
Hi mate I like small minnows.

Hey robbie are these tassie devils only for trolling?
Hi mate, no you can definitely cast them too. Most people troll them, but I have had a lot of success casting them, particularly in rivers. Smaller ones are better for this though.
I'll give the devils a try on land locked salmon in Maine next month. i'll let you know the outcome
Awesome. Are they available of there Hank?
yes , I bought 3 at a sportsmans show last winter. Looking forward to using them. Most of the fish are in 30 to 50 feet down so I'll use a down rigger.
+Hank Lunn That's awesome. Learn something everyday. Good luck mate.
tassies definitely go well on the trout, lost a little rainbow one day then next cast caught a little Redfin so I wasn't to bothered
Now Sarah my partner wants to know what color Tassie Devils.? Cheers Robbie.!

i tried a tassie devill very good
Any way to throw these in streams
Hey Dave they will work in streams if you have enough water. They will work well in deeper water.
I caught a 4 pound red fin on a tassie devil at Eildon
Could you use these fishing on the shore?
Damon R Hay mate you sure can. They're not the greatest casting lure ad the tend to sway around a lot as they move through the air, however their heavy weight allows for decent casting distances.
robbiefishing Thanks for the reply! much appreciated, take it easy. I'll have to try it out.
about 2 years ago my pop caught a 64cm murray cod on a tassie devil while trolling
WOW that's really cool! Thats uncommon.
