This was my favorite show as a kid. Brings back so many memories.
Bringing back these memories is great but it would be awesome if they brought the show back as well.

This was held in a different city/town each time.
The local fire brigade had a nice exercise in the rescue of the contestants, because they could be entangled or hit by their silly creations.
There were many variants, bicycling over a narrow plank across the harbor, going down ring the bell and stop in time, trying to fly as far as possible, it was very funny and contestants came even from Belgium and Germany.
Also to get attention for their club or their charity, because there was a few seconds interview before their 'disaster' run.
It was on national television, so people do a lot for a few seconds of fame!
Actually impressive that this show was so good people who don’t speak Dutch also enjoy it
Always fun to watch again. The flying from a platform is also part of this show. It was called ‘Vlieg er eens uit’ in Dutch. They also have ‘Tobbedansen’ (tub dancing, referring to the bobbing motion of the tub in the water), ‘Fiets ‘m erin’ (Cycle it in,where they have to cross a narrow beam across the water with a bicycle), and many more. Over the years there were about 25 or so different contests they did.
I believe it was in the eighties or early nineties, but they also recorded in the Efteling theme park the waterevents took place in the pond where the Aquanura fountain show now resides if I'm not mistaking
They also need to custom the bikes sometimes to fit the track, lol
I'm curious about the event in Austin Texas he's talking about. "Vlieg er eens uit" was the very first contest, the one it all started with in the mid-70ies. So if the Austin festival is even older than that, it could be the original where they got the idea from in the first place. So many of our dutch tv shows and series were actually remakes of american and british shows.
This brings back memories to a lot of people in the Netherlands.
There was 1 guy that took the games to the next level.
At the game in the first part of this video he made a construction with springs so he got launched to the bell but he was so fast they made it illigal to use springs or other constructions that launch you.
Marco Barink ;) I can also remember another contestant who developed so much speed he couldn't even reach for the bell in time as he sped just past the pole that holds the bell.

First event is called Tobbedansen, which could translate in context to Bathtub Rodeo, while tub dancing would be a literal translation.
Second event is called Op glad ijs, which could translate in context to Slippery Slopes, while on smooth ice would be a literal translation.
Good stuff, you seem to have just as much fun watching this as we did when it aired on television.
This was the shit were 6 year old were allowed to go to bed AFTER this show on the Friday night. Loved it, specially the older ones
The greatest soapbox contraptions were these ones that had to ride down a slope, then launch one dude to ring a bell.
It was some plywood Thunderbirds stuff. Absolute spectacle.
There's a prize for speed, but also for originality. There is a version with flying contraptions too. The title of the program is "On land, at sea and in the air"
I used to watch this show a lot. The first event had much looser rules when it started, but people started making contraptions with pre-compressed springs that would catapult them forwards when the platform hit the water. Some not even touching the water before they smashed into the pole holding the bell, so that was getting way too dangerous. So they banned any type of stored energy systems, so people went with having team-mates pushing their little boat off with their legs instead. The old rules were very fun to watch, but people were going to die if they had let that go on.
I just watched the episode with the cars and looked for the one with water haha, and here I am xD
Some contestants would build a full size version of the track at home and actually test and tweak their designs very seriously. It was a big thing.
Here we go, this is the series I remember. This made me laugh so much when it was on TV. It was always so much fun. Many great memories

This was on every friday night on the TROS in the '80s and people stayed home just to watch this show.

My favorite show here in the Netherlands (And the Felmish one) is wie is de mol.
Its a show where a bunch of people travel to a distant country, and they all compete in challanges and games for money, but one person is there in secret to try and sabotage it so they make the least amount of money. And after every episode the contestants do a test, where they have to awnser the most amount of correct questions about the identity of the mole in the group, the saboteur. The person with the least amount of correct awnsers gets elliminated.
There was a season in Oregon too
I used to watch this everyday, still one of my favorite shows ever
I used to watch this with my grandfather in the 90s and early 00s and we used to call it 'plons' (an onomatopoeia of the sound that falling in water makes, like the English 'splash').
Btw, what he said in the beginning was that this is a compilation of different segments/seasons from the past 40 years of TLTZEIDL (aka 'plons' :P ). The final season was recorded in 2010 and aired in 2011 so if this was from 2012 it was probably like a final goodbye to the show and its past.
I hope that there are versions out there with English subtitles because the commentary is quite funny and fitting! (we also had a flying segment in the 70s and 80s btw)

This is a compliation of 40 years ter land ter zee en in de lucht. Thats what the host is telling in the first minute. 2. You dont need subtiteles, the video speak for themeself.
What I haven't seen mentioned in the comments (but I didn't read all) is that the presenter in the beginning mentions that they made this compilation for the 40th aniversary of the show. (in years, not number of series done, that is way higher)
Also watch the second part. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on the part called "hoog en droog" (roughly translated "high and dry".
Really miss these kind of TV shows. Everyday people participating (not like all those VIP shows these days), entertaining and not commercialized.

this was my favorite tv show growing up(it doesnt exist anymore sadly), but you also had a backward car race with DAF's(a dutch car manufacturer that used to make transmissions that went as fast forwards as backwards because it was a Variomatic without limiter) those were fun to watch. The cars went over bumps backwards and around a corner you had also the same but instead of backwards it was a caravan race

@10:55 if you are only confused about 1 thing i count that as a win ... @11:15 its hard to hear because you ask "what is this" the moment they are telling that, but apperently its a winter cap (for on the head) and his own head is the wool ball on top of those
This show was awesome!! Absolutely loved it. They had different variations, sometimes they had to traverse a reaaaaaly small plank to the otherside and that only rarely went well (as in, got to the other side w/o falling off)
The reason for the resque divers is because of the very cold water.
Most people find it hard to breathe when falling into the cold water.

its was one of the most popular game shows in the netherlands and many have competed in the many different games
the boats dont break they try to build em as launching pads to get a fast time. most of the times the people are like student groups or friend groups so its like a project
I watched this a lot when I was young. But at that point it was just limited to the water elements similar to the first bit. That first water contest was definitely one of the better elements.

@16:20 jup you got it ... these things... well its a contest but really everybody wins, theres prices for the best creation, for having the worst luck, being the fastest, but really its mostly carnaval clubs and other clubs showing of in the off season
Really nice to see these videos again. The Candidates with their funny creations was so funny. They were always happy when they could get the BEL. You got a prize for the Speed, Creations and a Bad luck/consolation prize. You have a contagious smile, lovely.

Floating is entirely optional. Doesn't matter how exactly you get to the bell, you have to ring it by hand, and you can not use mechanical or electrical propulsion - but beyond that, not much rules.

Those were the days, shame all this reality show crap blew over to Dutch TV. This was a show the entire family stayed home for.

These are really old, the ones I watched had a really high fail rate with the boats and bikes trying to go over a very narrow path. If they did that show these days I think people would go way too high tech, the fun part of this show was how makeshift things were. Loads of cardboard and a bit of paint. Like the people doing it were quite drunk, haha
