My only question is that we just got our grill and we preheated it to try it. We didn’t end up cooking in it after that ..long story..lol. However after the preheat cooled down we went out to see what it looked like on the inside and it looked like it was used for food..much like your cleaning video. It it is brand new and we only tried the pre heat setting ! Should it have looked like that ?
The grime is black and greasy.

    • @CookingWithCJ

I just cleaned the pellet box which was full of carbon. Soak in Hoppes #9 gun cleaner for 6 hours. scrape with old 1/4" chisel. 99% came off. Recover #9 for future use after filtering with coffee filter. Or us use it on your weapon.
Prevention is aluminum foil lining 3 sides of pellet box which will last 2/3 smokes.

Thanks CJ. I am getting a real sticky goopy build up around the pellet box and it just doesn't want to respond to my wire brush or general vinegar and water...also not to a good grill cleaner. I use both Ninja pellets and Weber pellets. The pellet box lid at times just doesn't want to open and I'm afraid I'll break it off forcing it to open to clean it even a little. Any suggestions?

@@CookingWithCJ I found the culprit to be Lumber Jack/Weber pellets, it seems. I had switched to Weber Apple pellets a month ago and I guess they have more resin, pitch and tar. Would heating up the Grill on the bake or air fryer function work...maybe a hairdryer on the joint? I used the Kona pellets because it sounded like they would not produce as much Creosote...do you have a favorite low-creasote brand of pellet?

For Flat Top Grilling, don't buy the Ninja Flat Tray. Its a waste of money!
Get an Oven Liner or Silcone Bake sheet for about €3, and then makes mega Flat Top Burgers. If super adventurous you could try and make Pancakes!!
