The real question is - does anyone want to use real amps - I sure do.

Sounded awesome, Rich. Great show. A lot of fun to see and hear this. I bet it was a lot of fun being up there, with the light son and everything! Wish I was good enough to pull it off! As for the title of the vid.... I LOVE modelers. That's all I use these days. Simple. Light. And they have come a long way, to sound more real now, and less "processed," I think. You sounded great, here!

Man i made the switch last August from a mesa boogie fillmore 50w with a 2x12 cabinet to my helix....it took me a while to find "my tone" but now i honestly don't miss my amp....and seriously I'm 47yrs old love my tube amps & analog pedals & pa system, but im sold on my helix...setup is quick no heavy amp to haul & in reality being a local cover band i could never really turn up the volume on my amp to get to the sweet spot without making everyones ears bleed.... i was on the fence for a while, but I'm glad i took the plunge

Enjoyed the video (performance). Guitar sounds good and can never tell in a mix whether played through an amp or straight to desk. A good tight band.

Great sound, although visually the guitar and bass cabs are missed, the stage looks a bit empty.

Tube amps are number one. I have modelers but I will stick with my tube amps.

I love the sound of a good amp. But there are a few things I love more.
One is being able to enjoy a gig without back pain. The other is not being rushed during setup for a show.
I had a back injury 12 years ago that required me to make many changes going forward to avoid aggravating the injury. Therefore, I carry a powerful, yet very compact sound system and lighting rig for my band. And I now go ampless.
No, it's not exactly as good as the sound of my favorite amp, but it is better than many I've used and is very close.
My ampless rig is not based on modeling. I tried several modeling approaches but hated them all.
I use a Pedaltrain board filled with 12 effects pedals, a Radial Bigshot EFX switch pedal, and a Radial JDX Direct Drive.
The Direct Drive is the key to my overall sound. It is a quality D.I. box with onboard amp simulation derived from solid state circuitry, not from modeling technology or impulse response.
My tone is always clear, warm, rich, and noise free.
I wish I had made the move to ampless years ago.
Since I mix from stage, I don't use IEM's. I use a Shure wireless system for mobility to walk out into the audience periodically as a reference to fine tune FOH. And I use a Yamaha DBR-10 powered wedge. The other 2 musicians in the band use IEM's and control their monitor mixes via tablet.
My daughter monitors and adjusts our individual volumes through each song using a tablet for FOH.
I also enjoy the benefit of more room to move on stage.
    Thanks for the great video!

Your guitar seems just a tiny tad too loud in the bands mix, but that ok since I love guitars and well you are the Guitar Man after all Rich. ;-)

I don't understand the tribute band thing.... I don't mind cover bands or retro acts but why the limit of only playing one set of material. Seems kind of limiting?
Except for Zepperella, those ladies are smokin!

Guitar tone is fantastic Rich.. I was an amp purist for a long time and I've owned lots of amps like Fender, Ampeg, Traynor, Marshall, HIWATT, Vox, Mesa, Orange, Blackstar, Friedman.. I still have a few of my favorites out of those but on a gig with not having a crew and playing small clubs and bars/restaurants my Line 6 Pod Go gets the most use,, The convenience of having a selection of different amp models and effects in one unit that is easy to transport and takes little space is usually the deciding factor. I can also control the volume much more easily. I had to use plexi screens in front of my amps when I used them which entailed a lot more set up time as well.. Do I still prefer amps? Well yes but the Line 6 modeling technology has gotten so close to the real amp feel and tone that for the ears of the general public they can't usually discern any sonic difference.

Sounds great Rich! Love that Kotzen Tele!
I prefer amps but then I'm an old fart and my guitars and gear seldom leave my practice room LOL
When nobody's home I pull out my looper and pretend I'm in a band. It gets a little loud but the neighbors haven't complained yet😂😂😂

    Hey Rich?!
What would you recommend for an affordable powered speaker solution for my Fractal FM3? I’m possibly thinking a Katana 50 1x12/100 2x12?!
Not currently gigging, but want to start jamming with some friends. My other choice would be the Blackstar Debut 50?
    Thanks in advance!

      @@RichBischoff Thanks!

    • @EasyHeat
      @EasyHeat 6 місяців тому

@@RichBischoff BTW, thanks again! After some digging? The Katanas are Class A/B powered, while most of the competition (Line6 Catalyst/Blackstar Debut 50) are all Class D. From what I gather? That doesn't really make a big deal in terms of a PA or FRFR, but can make some difference in terms of strictly a guitar amp/powered cab? The Orange Pedal Baby is also Class A/B I assume for similar reasons!
Anyway, Thanks again! Love the channel my dude!
