- I'll show you how to replace your regular or led License Plate Bulb with a Fully Enclosed LED Light Fixture. This is the entire fixture replacement which is a lot better than just replacing the bulb. This lasts longer than using an LED bulb on it's own, as I've noticed regular bulb replacement fails a lot quicker. This can be used as a guide for W203 or 2001-2007 Mercedes C-Class Sedans. Sometimes this lighting fixture is referred to as JBSpeed as this is one of the brands.

Many thank for this video. Would not have been able to do the job without it. I replaced both fixtures on my 2005 C230. I had some trouble getting the exterior license plate panel off. You need to squeeze the clips and push out. As you say a bit tricky and some of the clips were hard to access. One other note: I had to replace my fixtures because I was sold the wrong regular bulbs by my local parts store, Lordco. The proper amperage for these bulbs is 5 amps and they sold me 12 amps. The result was they burned too hot and slowly melted the old fixture over a period of weeks. One stopped working and I saw that the bulbs were fused to the plastic and the inside of the fixture had melted as well. I did not realize how much it melted until I had to remove the old fixture. It was swollen from the head and I had to break it out which was really tough. Only after I broke it out did I see the swelling.
Thank you for taking the time to make an tutorial. Your video helped me to replace my broken trunk lid/handle. Special attention is needed to the clips around the fabric. These tend to brake easily.
I watched this video twice and after about 30 minutes i changed the lights myself. Hopefully they don't break any time soon 😂

I was hesitant to replace my old incandescent light fixtures with these because of the major pain that this looked to be. However, your video allowed me to know what I was up against and it made it less a pain. Removing the black plastic handle piece on my '07 C230 after removing the torqes screws was not obvious. But the I saw the hidden tab cut in the plastic that you released. Long story short, thanks, project complete.

The fix is simple but the whole process is a kind of a puzzle, it took me longer than I imagined.
The clips holding the license plate surround can be popped off with a 5.5mm socket if you press gently. It’s easier than tweezers/pointy nose pliers.

I installed mine a few days ago. Everything seems to be fine until I start the car and turn my lights on. The left light stays on for a while and then turns off. I get an error message aswell for the left license plate light. It keeps turning on and off. Tried another set of these from a different company, still the same issue...
Might have to decode the system or put a 5-10w resistor in series so the car can detect some resistance and then it should work...
Great video, persuaded me that I can live without LEDs on the back, far too much hassle!

you can get LED bulb inserts on ali that fit in the stock housing. you just have to unscrew 2 screws.

Mine has external screws. So you don't need to undo all that. Takes 1 minute to replace bulb. But my left bulb is pulsating (on/off every few seconds). Anybody knows how to fix? Thanks all.

You wouldn’t be able to fit new lights in place because the number plate tray is in the way
