    If you think this way is to much work you could skip the first steps and start at 1:44 but be really careful so you don’t brake anything. The clips sits really thigh that’s why I prefer removing the liner and push out the clips from inside. If you have halogen bulbs you don’t need to remove the plastic cover and the housing, you could change the bulb from the inside.

    Thanks for the video. Today I changed the lamps on my S212 (E220 estate) without removing all the inner door trim. As shown in the latter part of this video, I removed the outside trim piece covering the camera and 2 lamps by using a hook tool (there are a few small holes along the length of the strip that allow the hook to grab the back of the trim) to open the 4 clips holding in the trim strip and then a flat wedge tool to undo the clips on both side of each lamp. One lamp was not working but replaced both while I was at it. Job completed in less than 5 minutes.

      Thanks buddy! I got some questions for this how to change license plate light for a while. And now when doing things with the rear camera I took the change to show it. Actually my old light still works but has this in my inventory ☺️

    Hey
    Amazing video. I just replaced the lights on my S212 E220 estate 2015 model. I did it your method and made it so much easier and better to just do it from inside and press all the clips made it so much easier to remove and replace. Love the video.
    I didn't brake anything and I don't have a rear reversing camera, instead there is a blanking plate which is clipped in to the boot with the same clip type as the lights. It was black and I managed to squeeze it to release it and made getting the black outside piece out really easy. Thank for the video, much appreciated for all the info.

    I was thinking changing bulbs in my s204 will be easier than this. I was wrong. So much. In S204 we have less space for screw/bit and two of four plastic dowels are hidden under tailgate frame... The best thing I have done to make it easier was unscrew wiper motor.
    BUT anyway this tutor helped me a lot! It is pretty similar. Thank you.

      I know is possible to pull out the plastic liner from the outside at least for 212 model, not sure about yours. But I don’t like that way because I know is easy to brake the plastic or some other thing in the process that’s why I push the clips first from the inside. Glad me the video coming to help for you 💯

      @@MB212 on your vid verything are pulled gentle and that is awesome. In 204 is one more thing inside -two screws TX20 of handle tailgate so anyway I needed to remove interior plastic cover.

    Hello. I have the same car, s212 2009. But my numberplate bulb connector seems to be different, is there anything I´m missing here?
    Changed my bulbs recently and mine is a round connector which I need to turn anti-clockwise to release and it pops out with the w5w in it. You seem to have a different connector ? Seems unlikely that the round connector (PA66GF30 on it ) wil fit inside A2218200856?

    • @MB212
      @MB212  3 роки тому

      The older 212 believe until 2011 have halogen bulbs for license plate light. After that is led plate light as in this video the housing coming complete with the led you don’t need to change the actual bulb. You could also see the part-nr in the video, the first one is for your model.
      Forgot to mention in the video for the models with halogen bulbs is not needed to remove the plastic liner on the outside you change the bulb from the inside. If not actually lamp housing need replace.

    • @MB212
      @MB212  3 роки тому

      You could not use the same light as in this video. As you state is W5W bulb in yours. But you could find complete led lamp, similar as in this video on AliExpress with the W5W connector.

      @@MB212 Yes you are right, it is possible to change the bulb from the inside. But for some strange reason even with canbus w5w leds I keep getting the numberplate light error message. I used to have a 2011 w212 with no error message, now with a s212 2009 keep getting error messages lol, even with many different leds.
      Thanks for the aliexpress link. The problem with such units is that there are way too many leds for my taste, they light up the whole street lol. The oem led unit u have is stylish, and error free. Was hoping it will fit my car aswell but I’m afraid not, even if I change the connector the holes are too small for the unit to fit.
      If you have any ideas, let me know haha
      Anyway great channel man, keep up the videos 👍

      I use osram bulb with external canbus decoder for my position lights and they works flawlessly, you may check them out. First I did buy China light but they never really worked.
      That’s true they light bit to much if you like the oem look. I coming back if I find some more info about this topic.

      Ah I see the difference, a W212 is a saloon, it looks like yours is an S212 Estate.
      Replacing the licence plate lamps on the W212 requires a lot more dismantling.
