This is not the case of her being a spoiled brat because "too bad you don't get to choose the question, he's the interviewer". If you knew anything about what these late night interviews do, it's clear cut he did this to openly mock her substance abuse which you would never do to any self-respecting human being. Yes. And I see something deeper and darker and sadder here. Specifically from minute 2:15 forward. Lindsay cries and inside she feels like someone worthless, who lives only to amuse people at the cost of trampling on her own human being. She even makes the rehab and vodka joke to reaffirm that. "I am a clown that serves to make people laugh. But I am worth nothing inside." And Lindsay cries keeping her smile, she cries but still crying she tries to make the others laugh. Her face (beloved and beautiful face) makes an effort to smile while crying. And also to appear funny while inside she feels that she is only useful to be made fun of. That's why now 2023 that she is already a mom, I love seeing that she is a new and better person. I love to see that she is happy. She inspires and wants to bring happiness to the world. Stop sticking your head in the sand & being ignorant & then whinge when people take the time out of their own days to shine light on a different perspective which is far more logical than your own. You should be thanking them. Besides, majority of talk shows, they do a pre-interview & usually the publicist & manager will be involved giving a list of questions the celebrity doesn’t feel comfortable asking. As for being a misogynist... I WISH!!!!!!!!!!! To date, I've sacrificed probably 40k to women for various reasons... and have used much of that money to help women friends to get out of dangerous or harmful situations with no benefit to me. Last year, I helped a female friend get out of a hurtful relationship with a drug addict to the tune of $600 only to have her go back to him six months later and never pay me back. In fact, she cut me off because he's now in control of her life. But if she was to come back tomorrow because he had abandoned her and she needed my help? Yup... I'd do it.
Also, I just gave another $40 to a female friend who is 1000+ miles away from me so she could have money for food despite the fact that I've given her about $400 in the past and never asked for any of it back. She only asked for $10, but I gave her $40 because $10 seemed low.

Agreed. Both the media and society picked these young females in Tinseltown and treated them badly as if they were some corrupt government officials and politicians (like Eliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner). SMH.
Thanks to the Britney Spears documentaries (Framing Britney Spears and Controlling Britney Spears) in 2021, people have now realized that the media really wanted the female stars to fail. Former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy (of iCarly and Sam & Cat) said it best: The media only wants to see a former child celeb fall off the rails and I agree with her. Therefore, the media and society both need to change they treat celebs and stop laughing at their mishaps and miscues for ratings, greed and money. They are still humans despite of what they went through. The media and society should also realize that they have kids too. I mean, you listening, Harvey Levin, Adam Buckley, Jian Ghomeshi, Kelly Ripa, Catt Sadler, Katie Couric, Bryant Gumbel, Mario Lopez, Ted Turner, Vince McMahon, Ana Kasparian, Cenk Uygur, Jerry Penacoli, former President Donald Trump, etc.?

I was really happy and pleased when Jimmy Fallon became the host of “The Tonight Show.” People give him crap because they think he’s fake but I don’t think he’s bullshitting his audience at all I think he’s just NICE. Fallon is lovable and funny and he’s a super talented singer! I think he deserves to be a talk show host. I appreciate him and James Corden a lot they are a breath of fresh air. They are actually talented and funny on their own, unlike Letterman.

Letterman felt entitled to use his position and power to reduce celebs "down to size" to prove they were no better than anyone else. He did this subtlety and overtly by cutting them off, dismissing, shaming, and harassing them right to their face. Maybe he felt some of his audience got off on his ego trip. In reality most people with a modicum of self-awareness could see his sociopathic tendancies to destroy others while justifying it with his own bs.

Truely digusting seeing an old white man sit there and humiliate another human for his own enjoyment. If you have to degrade someone for a cheap laugh your evil. No apology would ever make this okay. Grown ass man doing such a petty thing . It's so infuriating

  • @DavidMichaelCommer

This is really gross. Lindsay Lohan is a deeply troubled person who obviously was making efforts to improve her life, and Letterman humiliated her. Regardless of what he thought he was doing, she felt humiliated. She looked off camera, surely at her publicist or a producer, and stated as a professional that this topic had not been cleared for discussion and Letterman was relentless. She's a former child star, which comes with its own traumas and baggage, and whether she continually relapses or not, she was trying. A person's personal struggles are not obligated to be part of their work, and doing media interviews is a contractual obligation for actors-as she said, to promote a movie, not to be embarrassed by exploitative jerks for ratings and headlines. David Letterman condemned his own reputation for professionalism and decency in this short clip.

I have a hard time getting through a normal week, yet while at a low point she's able to handle being embarrassed on national television by an absolute creep of a human being, and still get through it better than me trying to get through a Monday. I cant imagine being in her shoes and how I would react.

Some of his questions were completely unnecessary and rude of him to ask her. It was obvious that she was uncomfortable in this interview once he started asking about rehab and drinking etc. And she even said they didn’t mention this before when they were getting ready for the interview so were those just unexpected rude questions from him that put her on the spot or something. And when she asked to talk about something positive, poor girl :( I grew up with Lindsay because I watched her movies ever since I was a little kid and I’m 25 now. She is a wonderful beautiful kind talented actress that deserves to be treated with respect
