Mintabie is a rollercoaster of a cut, but fun at the same time. Great video, keep up the good work

I personally really like that picture stone. To me, the imperfections make it way more interesting than your everyday opal.

The first stone was looking good, shame about the cracking that keeps dogging you

✨⭐🌟Opal Odyssey🌟⭐✨I guess you can get injured working opal. I would have never thought that. Stay safe.

Mintabie = ☠️ I think other than going to mintabie with a pick and shovel in hand, gamble with LR instead. Coober and boulder, you pretty much know what you’re getting. I’ve bought some recently and it seems pretty good value for money if you get the auction win at the right price.

Knowing which fields were blasted and which weren't helps in determining what's better to buy.

@@windarcher_cookierunvery true. But other than actually knowing the person that took it out of the ground, nobody really knows. I’m pretty sure it happens on the majority of mines but not to the extent years ago when it was a bit more rough and ready and what they would call lower grade opal was being pulled out. That lower grade opal is now floating around as mid grade today from the storage piles and buckets.

opal is cracked the way it was dug out or its been in sun or it dirty traces./ opal is mostly clean very rare all opal from a claim is all dirty mainly the traces around it like what you just cut is dirty some with natural cracks but a lot is from the way miner dug it out.

Lits of fields in Mintabie is used to be blasted as the ground was that hard. You have to research what fields your buying from. There is beautiful Mintabie if you research where it was mined and how

Yeh, a bit frustrating that blasting is often done roughshod.
There are ways of blasting in hard ground that are much kinder to the opal. Softer explosives that produce more bubble gas and less high velocity shattering.
